We typically tip between 20-30% . We had a waiter, that brought our food out cold, never checked on us never brought us silverware , never brought us ketchup , forgot another item that someone else had to bring to our table. Never brought us our check, and right when I was getting up the waiter comes by and says, did you want more hot water for your tea ?? Like really you've got to be kidding we are leaving now, ad the food was the worst . I feel sorry for the waiter he is not a good waiter, . My husband does not tip for bad service so zero tip for him. A few nights before we had our favorite waiter at our favorite restaurant and he moved us , quickly from our table to another table, when he realized two loud stockbrokers wanted everyone to know they trade in the millions... so he moved us without us asking him to. He gave us a glass or red wine on the house for having to be moved we gave him a thirty percent tip. The other things that is going on since the $15.00 wage increase we are being told my some restaurant owners please do not tip because now they do not depend on tips to make it. We still tip,

Did the waitress really the best she could do? If she would have informed the costumers that she was sorry about the wait after 30 minutes and explained the situation in a decent way, I don't think anybody would be so rude and write an LOL

I tip a minimum of 20%, knowing that food servers don't make the minimum wage that the rest of us do. It is not the server's fault if the food is late coming out of the kitchen and she said she let them know that. As patrons they could have put their "voice" to the establishment and left, not take their disappointment out on their waitress and in such an offensive way. She had nothing to do with it and now had nothing to gain from serving that table for the probably 2 hours they were at her table. Shame. People 'voice their opinions' to the wrong people. Had they left from impatience, at least she may have gotten a better set of guests replacing them. But sadly they sat and they ate and they spew their unhappiness at one who didn't deserve it.

i leave 20% and I have left up to 30% tip depending on circumstances. It is not the waitresses or waiters fault they had to wait. I thought parties of 6 or more automatically had 18% gratuities added just for that reason.
I have had bad experiences at restaurants and I let a manager or owner know my issue but, have never not left a tip. If the chefs are behind don't punish the wait staff. If I feel I've waited too long I ask what the hold up is. Too leave LOL to a young lady that is trying her best to fix the problem is just plain obnoxious.

I always leave at least 20%. This is an opportunity to touch someone's life in a good way. I have experienced this in the past. I went to Friendly's in Hornell, NY (it is gone now) and the service was terrible. The waitress looked harried. I told myself she is probably a single mom, struggling to make ends meet, probably had a sick kid that morning and was struggling to find someone to sit with the child while she worked. She was probably yelled at by her boss for being late. That day when it was time to tip I gave her more than 20%. The next time I went into the restaurant she made sure I sat at her table and the service was tremendous. Over the next couple of months I was able to get to know her a little better and when she would appear with bruises on her I would tell her I was a counselor and if I could help I would. She never asked for it but I could tell that the offer was enough to encourage her through another day. The story had a good ending but I will leave that for another day, it is her story to tell. Suffice it to say, that first tip made her day and made that day an even better one. It is my role in life to improve someone else's life, not be selfish and expect everything to go my way.

The tip is based on the service provided by the server. The restaurant is responsible for the food, speed, ambiance, etc. Use Yelp.com, Twitter or Tripadvisor.com to send your message to management. Don't punish the server for that which is out of her control.

If the wait staff is at fault ( as a fair portion are) then the tip- for good service! Should be held back. If theFood is slow in coming out, cold or just not edible then the management needs to be told. Simple as this bad / no service bad / no tip.

This hahaha group which left no tip should give this fine establishment a 2nd chance. Talk to the Manager! Leave $5, come on? Or just stay away, better yet for a more hip group to enjoy the environment.

I base my tip solely on waiters attitude ..as long as waiter has my best interest and is showing concern even though long wait..I will tip..and I am really funny about tipping

I hope the piece of garbage who left no tip reads this - it is not the servers fault if the food took an hour....I hope that someone in your family or your child is a server some day working hard to put themselves thru school or make ends meet , and someone stiffs them....see how you like it. What comes around goes around buddy - karma is a great thing!!!!! and I am glad you are not a friend or family member of mine.

I tip AT LEAST 20%, often more. I have son in food service. When food is late or drinks are late, it is almost NEVER the server's fault. It is the cook' s or bartender' s fault, usually.
