They were right. Justins a rookie. Has no right letting 25000 serians into Canada. Their only bringing their problems here instead of dealing with things there. AND he wants to withdraw the fighter jets. WHAT THE F--k? I agree that 1st they should create safe no fly zones in the problem country's where their population can head too for safety

The solution is to understand the problem and how to solve it. The problem is ISIS. Just letting refugees in won't help. And .. What if we are letting danger in? What if some of those refugees are actual terrorists? Compassion aside, we really need to think about the consequences. Use your head and not just your heart.

Hey people watch this. It's a British news agency and it shows the whole interview with the aunt in BC. Wow global and ctv news. Such hypocrites. https://www.knightstemplarinternational.com/video-the-truth-about-why-the-little-syrian-boy-died/

  • Cory - 9 years ago

Ok people and especially Grace Let's take a look at the pic of the drowned boy. First. When someone drowns your body bloats and you turn purple. Second when you drown you sink Thirdly there was no talks of his brother or mother washed up ashore. Also the father said he was holding each family member and let them go into the sea. The Muslim God must have perfectly washed the little boy's body on shore with no signs of drowning in him. Hmm. I wonder if muc liar and Trudeau helped stage this fake death. I think the father was killing his family because he was going to fix his teeth. Maybe he was wanting to meet a nice white lady. Hey Grace did you and dirka dirka meet on a dating website. White women for Muslim men. The whole story seems a hoax. Why was there a photographer at the beach anyways. It's amazing people where there to know a little boy was washed up on shore. Lots of unanswered questions. I think they are questions that should be answered. No autopsy done no reports released. Just a report saying this family was coming to canada. NOT. People are so stupid in this country. All fooled by muc liar and retard trudeau.

Canada.. You may think that its helping them but yet how do you know if your not bringing danger to us?? How can you tell danger is not hidden within one of them..?? Truthfully speaking I do not think you ladies and gentlemen think before acting... Honestly speaking it sounds great but there is always a consequences for doing so.. The question is that you should ask yourself is" Are you ready to take that risk and have this gamble that could risk millions more lives?". That is the question I have for you, Are you willing to take the burden if in example what if there's seeds within that group sent by the violent group?.. Meaning have you really thought they do not plan for this.. How do you know they are not looking for an opening to invade... We already have our own crisis in Canada fix that before working on someone else problems... We also need help, yet this proves to show when we're in our own crisis that they do not know how to deal with it but to bring more into our country.. There is so many theories out there its only up to you guys to decide really its just my opinion.... Danger can come at any moment in life like gambling is a risk.. This I guess its the biggest gamble risk I've seen..

To everyone saying help these refugees let them. Ok if you say that then you open your door at your home. You let them in and your hard earned money you use it to pay for their food and clothing Because they can't get jobs when they first come. Oh and you don't get help from the government either So that's right you brain dead retards. You use your money that you make to pay your bills and support a Syrian family of four. See how long you last. Talk is cheap all you socialist retards. It's amazing the media keeps forgetting to mention the family lived in turkey with a apartment refugee status and safe. But turkey doesn't give free money. Germany is the closest country that gives free money. These Syrian Muslim pieces of crap are free loaders. So grace stop making comments u less your a Muslim lover. Bring them all into your home. The mend are useless. Does anyone remember history ww2. If you were eligible to be in army u were enrolled. Hmm Syria is at war and they run. What useless coward men the Syrians are. Remember were boys were enrolled in ww2. What are these useless Muslims doing. Nothing. Europe is pushing these people away Bc they don't want the problem. I'm glad Canadians are saying no stay out. Muc liar and Trudeau better hangs their tune or else this election is over for them. Plus the aunt in Bc should be deported for lying to media just a pure example of the Syrian Muslims lying pieces of garbage She sent money to the family and the dad of dead family used it to get his teeth done. So why should we have sympathy for that he and his sister killed the kids and wife. Donnelly way to screw up for the NDP and accuse the government. With no facts and it was all a lie. This is the NDP way. Lies and more lies. Syrians can stay where they are and not pollut our Canadian country.

Canada You have to do a little research on what so called asylum actually is. The refugees are put into camps where they suffer overcrowding lack of food and poor hygiene conditions. It is natural for a family to try and get to a country where they can improve on current state. As far as no skills go it has been my experience that it takes a relatively short time for most refugees to find employment. The employment in most cases is jobs that our Canadians don;t want. Children of refugees learn very quickly and become integrated into our society. In Calgary here i watch a lot of minor sports because of my gran-kids and see lots of immigrants and their children playing. I can go on and on giving you examples of refugees and immigrants who did receive some assistance to start but are now tax paying Canadians. Sure we are going through a tough time in Canada right now but that is due in a large part to poor government not refugees. Times will get better and we will be glad we took as many refugees and immigrants as we can

  • Canada - 9 years ago

what the media also won't touch yet should be noted is that these refugees are not escaping war. They can be classified as economic refugees. The majority of European landed immigrants are actually crossing from Turkey so they have escaped their "civil war" and have been granted asylum but they are intent on making it to a more lucrative country. Further evidence is where they are landing which is primarily Greece which has opened its doors to registration and asylum but that doesn't seem to interest these Syrian and North African refugees. Kind of hard to feel sorry for them when you are presented with the actual facts and not just an unfortunate image perpetuated by your national news outlet

That's great Lloyd. My first generation grandparents went through the same ordeal. Dirt floors, very lean times, dirty 30's but those times were nearly a century ago when social systems didn't exist in our great country. It's true, you came to this country and we're basically granted a portion of land and your existence depended on how hard you worked that land and basically luck. Up until the 70's, nearly 30% of North American immigrants returned to their native counties simply because they could not hack it. Whether it be the language or simply work ethic. Migrants today have nothing to worry about. They are set up with income, housing and employment opportunities that outreach native Canadians even if they fail. And do you know where that money comes from? Yes, our tax dollars. I care about all Canadians opinions but some of you need to leave your naivety at the door and realize that we are at the start of a recession that has already seen 30,000 albertans lose their jobs in the last couple months and you want to welcome 25,000 more people without any relatable job skills? Go ahead and see how German/Swedish and British nationals feel about their influx of immigrants. You'll be surprised to see the growing nationalist movements in those countries because citizens are tired of the overpopulation of immigrants and the social deficits that accompany them.

  • Grace - 9 years ago

Dear Donda: I may not sleep well tonight thinking about the migrants out there and their plight. Although you presumed my background, here are some facts: I lived in Vancouver's downtown east side for several years (so yes, I've seen some homeless folk) and ...created a platform that's contributed over a million dollars (I swear that is not an exaggeration) to Calgary's Food Bank. That being said, you sound like you're a person who can care. Tear down the boundaries. Why not care for these people on the other side of the world right now when we do have so much to offer. Germany can do it. Icelanders are willing. Why not Canada too?

  • Grace - 9 years ago

    Dear Lloyd, Thank you.

  • Lloyd - 9 years ago

Canada could easily absorb 25000 refugees with no impact whatsoever. That number is .0007 % our population. My grandparents were immigrants who did receive benefits such as land in 1905. They faced many of the same things immigrants to Canada face today. My grandparents did not speak or understand English being Ukrainian. I am a 2nd generation Canadian who has had very good life due to Canada letting my grandparents in.
People have to realize that the future of Canada is dependant on immigrants. Just look around you at all the successful tax paying immigrants that make Canada the great country we are today.
As far as fixing everything in Canada first it will never happen. All you have to do is read the majority of comments to see it is a me ,me, me attitude. It costs money to feed kids in schools, provide affordable health care, take care of our elderly but until you are directly impacted we feel we should not have to pay. The majority of refugees just want what we want food on the table, raise our kids in a safe environment and be happy. Their children will be the future of Canada.

  • ken - 9 years ago

it is isis plain to flood refugees with many of their own into the UK and across al its lands

  • alison - 9 years ago

To see how small the percentage is of ppl who want refugees to be let in is so sad. We are a huge country full if immigrants except the very native people who originated here. Canada needs to do more..Our government needs to step up and help out with international issues. We are so verry blessed. The self entitlement felt by our citizens is just sickening. We are all humankind...Let us be kind humans.

  • Donda - 9 years ago

You see Grace, I have empathy and compassion and I've actually helped out more homeless and hungry people than you've probably even seen so don't tell me I'm not any of the above. I do have empathy, compassion and a desire to see our great country get ahead and care for it's own people before bailing out other nations. You have a good night now because I know I will.

  • Canada - 9 years ago

Well Grace, if I did work for minimum wage (which I don't see is relevant) I would be even more concerned because I now have an additional 25,000 people competing for my job that are probably willing to do it for less.

  • Grace - 9 years ago

These attitudes reflect why Canadians can't even look after their own because these comments lack generosity, empathy, and compassion. I will bet that none of these people would be willing to even help a homeless person. Probably tell him or her to "get a job". How many of you work for minimum wage, by the way? If I thought this was truly reflective of the general population, I'd say we have the government we deserve but I think, despite the current poll numbers, these are just a bunch of mean-spirited people who have hijacked this forum. I sure hope so.

  • Donda - 9 years ago

I might choke on this but I actually agree with Harper that letting in more immigrants will not solve the problem. Instead of these people running to other countries for hand outs, why aren't they even trying to fight for their own country? Why should we bring 10,000, 20,000 or 25,000 immigrants who will be a drain on Canada's economics, social assistance programs etc... It just makes me mad because on the news, the same one with the picture of the dead little boy (I do feel sorry for the child but I blame the father and aunt for his death for doing things the way they did...illegally!) there was an article about Canadian and Calgary children going hungry while trying to go to school and study! Ironic isn't it? Disgusting if you ask me. Look after the problems in your own back yard Canada before you go shelling out millions of dollars for aid or statues around the city or new stadiums. Do something that we could all cheer about. Help the over 2,500 kids get a full belly to go to school on, build more apartments for the homeless, ask the homeless to volunteer their time to various agencies in return for food or clothing. This also should not be a political issue to decide who has the biggest bleeding heart. As the UK said, fix the problem at the root and there won't be a need for these immigrants to be killing themselves to get out of their own country. I know if ISIS ever tried to take over Canada, I, amongst several million strong I'm sure, would stand up and fight for our rights and our country. God Bless Canada

Why aren't Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States actively involved in providing solutions. Lots of petro-dollars and space available for resettlement of refugees and economic migrants. It appears that Europe is the destination of choice for these migrants and not Arab states - but why ?

I believe it is incumbent as journalists with supposedly unbiased reporting attributes that theses questions should be asked in a global and Canadium forum and that the feeding frenzy and sensationalist reporting currently exhibited by Global and other press and media services should be tempered with objectivity and sober thought.

Sure the EU and the rest of the western world is under pressure to accept ever increasing volumes of migrants, but why is this ? The Arab states must be engaged to accept responsibility, finance and participate in the resettlement of Syrian migrants within Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. Journalists can and should play a meaningful and responsible role here.

Take the refugees back to their country and give them some strategies to fight Isis. The energy they have used to get away from their country could be put to better use to unite as a large group to overtake the Isis renegades, by running away, Isis only gets stronger and takes over all the property left behind. What a gift to Isis.
Many people here are unemployed and cannot find work. Our social system can not support the masses added to unemployment on a daily basis. Calgarians need work and with the growing number of non-oil related businesses that are affected by the present oil prices and layoffs continues to demoralize the former working, tax paying citizens who formerly supported many of the immigrants. We can not get to a doctor now......adding more people who are not accustomed to this climate and arrive with medical issues will only make seeing a doctor an event that must be booked YEARS in advance. (if even then)
When do Canadians get a break? I have to FIGHT to receive EI benefits that I have paid into for years ( and I may get nothing in the end), yet immigrants can come, receive free medical, and a steady income of immigration pay without ever having invested anything into the program.

Enough is enough,,election,,,I bring in 10,000,,no i"ll bring in 20,000,,,well I will bring in 25,000,,,,what a joke,,,no more refugees it's our money, not yours we pay you to do our job,,this poll says it all,,no more wasting Our money,,,it is sad,but we can'talk help everyone.

  • Cory - 9 years ago

No we don't need anymore refugees here. Canada has its own problems. Well I'm sure immature Trudeau is gonna regret what he said abt the Harper government. Trudeau opened his dumb mouth as usual and stuck his foot in it before getting full facts. Same with muc liar. That lady should be deported for lying to media and she illegally tried to smuggle here family and they drowned. So shouldn't she feel like crap for paying for smugglers because she was lazy to do it the legal way and they died. Shame on her and shame on her for trying to blame the government. Muc liar and baby Trudeau probably called her and asked her to lie and said this would be a great story for our votes. Yet neither of them did their research. Is this what canada really wants for leaders. Go Harper go. And stay out the immigrants.

  • Ed - 9 years ago

We do not look after our own who have issues! I have a family member who has developed dementia and there is no real aid for them. They had to move to a care facility that is over $4000.00 per month so that this family member has care. The government does not want to give any aid to people like this because they are supporting so many refugees that come to Canada. My father in law came here as a young man with nothing and received nothing from the government back then. He worked and worked raised his family and was never a burden on our society. Now immigrants come here and have a handful of papers telling them all the government benefits they are entitled to. There is something wrong with this picture. If you want to come here look after yourself and don't start your life here as a parasite looking for all of the freebies from our wonderful government. People that came here years ago looked after themselves just fine. Now immigrant come here and feel entitled!

  • ed - 9 years ago

To let more refugies in is ludicrist ! Our economy is in a hole , our dollar is worth little and now we are told we should do mor by bringing in 10 000 to 25 000 imigrants .
I am sure if this government allows this and understands our economy woes they will make it easier to get welfare and EI because that's where many Canadians that have lived here all there lives will end up !

  • Neil Saunders - 9 years ago

Only when there are no homeless people in Canada.Charity starts at home and this should not be made a political issue. How many of the refugees are the politicians going to put into their own homes-ask them that !!!!!!

  • Liz - 9 years ago

Fix the problems at home first, we're already going through a recession, if we have all those people come to Canada who is going to pay for it all? Tax payers.

  • Jennifer - 9 years ago

There comes a point of "enough is enough" until all CANADIANS are taken care of... We need to stop allowing others in. Yes the situation in war countries is horrible and innocent people are affected. We have our own people to take care of first though

  • Diana - 9 years ago

We need to take care of our Canadian families first. Albertan and Canadian families are struggling in the economic turndown. Some Families are stretched pretty thin in our own country to make ends meet. I do not want my tax dollars paying to bring more people into out country. Food banks are running short already. Enough already

  • Canada - 9 years ago

Ridiculous sensationalism by liberal media again. I like how the focus of the article was Canada's lacking global generosity but the final, brief sentence of the report sheds light that the boys family didn't even send in a refugee application. I can sympathize with these peoples need to leave their country. I've been to Syria and there's nothing pleasant about it even without a war being waged but they need to apply for refuge. You can't just jump in a boat and land on someone's shore only to demand passage through a number of other countries to get to Sweden/Germany or the UK. if everyone got what they wanted, this world would be perfect. Unfortunately that's not the way it works.

  • Larae - 9 years ago

What would we do with all the 2500 refugees? Will they work where there are no jobs already? Will they just live off us? Enough is enough why don't we start helping our own people here in Canada!!!!!!!

  • MDT - 9 years ago

How can we continue to so openly allow our borders to accept any and all when we cannot even look after our own...children,veterans, seniors, less abled citizens. We, the working class, are taxed into being poor and we are still asked to give more and more and more. Those that come here MUST contribute immediately so as not to further burden the Canadians already struggling to make ends meet.

  • pat - 9 years ago

Allowing additional refugees into Canada will not solve the problem! The solution is to solve the root of the problem rather then react to the aftermath.

  • Adam - 9 years ago

We have enough trouble here already. Another 25000 would cripple our economy let alone 10000.

  • Mick - 9 years ago

What are rich nations like Saudi Arabia and other Arab Nations doing about this?

  • Jesse - 9 years ago

Quit using one instance to incite emotional and uninformed rhetoric - Canada is very generous to refugees
