The proposed lifespan for this mine is 3-4 years, as detailed on the Armidale Regional Council's website. The devastation and contamination to this beautiful area and very the real threat to endangered species is an abhorrent risk and cost to pay for short term gain. The New England is at risk of being sold off, industrialised and poisoned as has happened to the Hunter. Please don't allow this to proceed. Be able to look future generations in the face and say you made the right choice for the future, for them and for those precious areas of habitat.

Absolutely not. Last leaks from this mine poisoned the Macleay River with fish deaths and water had to be trucked into Bellbrook for months. Most residents downriver in the Macleay Valley are totally opposed to this.

They have already had a major contamination the Macleay river with arsenic which devastated the river environment. This project must not go ahead.

The Hillgrove Mine employs, locals and people not originally from Armidale, however over 95% of them are residential, so it is supporting the city. There are strict environmental guidelines that have to be adhered to for them to be able to go ahead, and this is good so that we do make sure that our future generations don't have to deal with what our generation didn't. The mine is underground and the land above is being farmed, and for once this mine is actually owned by a local, so support local 4 local.

let them expand. Will mean more jobs located here in armidale and more money spent here. You dont even know the mine is there unless your told its there.

Please don't mine this beautiful area. I am a school teacher and I despair to think of the unhealthy polluted world we will leave behind for our children and grandchildren if we don't use our thinking skills and look at what has happened in areas which have been mined. Mining brings in very few jobs for locals- don't be sucked in by the "more jobs" rhetoric.

Hmmm it seems like usual the die hard greenies in the area blowing thing out of proportion, and 90% of them dont have a job and spend most of their time in a centalink line. You guys are there first to have a cry about mining but you use electricity right? or use something that has to be mined. Its also UNDERGROUND mine, trees dont grow underground!!!!

I'm not a greenie , but doubt if there is anything to be found in any great quantity , the country east of Armidale is pristine and should be left alone ....

please don't let this mine expand. I have friends in Armidale who I visit. The lovely forests and clean air, the places to explore, these are what make Armidale the special place it is. Once it is ruined, you cant bring it back. Please stop the expansion of the mine.

As a visiting exresident it appears to me that jobs in the East Mall are more of a threatened species than any gumtree in the New England area
