Are you confident in the Liberals' economic agenda?

Justin Trudeau's promise to put Canada $146 Billion dollars in debt over the next three years will cripple our Country! How many generations will it take to claw their way out of this debt, if ever? Future generations should not count on there being a Pension Plan available when they reach the age of retirement. There won't be money left for any Pension Plans at the rate Trudeau will be spending and where he is spending! We can guarantee that he will do absolutely nothing for the West. When his father made the odd trip through the West he flipped us "The Bird" to put it politely! Justin knows nothing about the West, what is economically important, what makes the our Provinces financially rich around the world! To him we are a bunch of hillbilly farmers and oil hicks! Heaven forbid he would ever have to get his rich, spoilt, brat hands dirty. On another note, how is Justin going to curtail his temper on the stage with world Leaders when he couldn't even control it in Parliament "swearing at Prime Minister Harper"? He is a loose cannon with a temper and this is what some of you elected as the Leader of our Country. He probably thinks the Liberals were elected because of him. He's so errorgant that it would never occur to him a Chimp could have been the Leader of the Liberal Party and they would have still been elected on the premise of change in this Country. All we can hope for is that he surrounds himself with extremely experienced, intelligent people and puts his ego aside to follow their advise and suggestions. I fear for our future!

As I sit back and look just two days after the election and I see that 58% of the people are not confident in the Liberal economic agenda, it really makes me wonder what people voted for and how many people must have been band wagoners when it came to voting for the Liberals. Do I believe that we need to stimulate the economy? Yes! Does it take money to do that? Yes! Is the liberal party going to make the same mistakes that the Conservatives made? Yes!... Politicians tell you what you want to hear!!! Look back at the last 40 years and ask yourself, has any Politician anywhere ever lived up to their campaign promise and you will see that over 50% of the stuff promised during the campaign never actually happen the way that they were promised and even if a Politician was able to live up to all their promised during the campaign, we would still complain about them.

If people think that in 100 days from the election which would be January 28, 2016 that the Liberals will meet their election promises then they are truly misguided. When you look at Alberta, the NDP made numerous promises to Albertan to get their vote and here we are almost 6 months later and how many of those promises have come true?????

As a "high" income earner. I will make sure I cut eating our and using small contractors for the amount of additional tax I have to pay. This is a zero sum game and I doubt that the extra taxes anticipated in this Robin Hood strategy will fail

This poll shows that people do not have confidence in the Liberals Financial Plan so how did they win a majority Government? By people who thought they wanted change but didn't look at the details of what his changes really meant, before voting. Too late now and we now just wait and see how the next 4 years play out.

Not that I'm throwing my hat in with Harper, but weren't the books balanced? So we are supposed to run ourselves into deficite and this is supposed to help us how? Defecite is not debt. It is debt upon the interest within debt. Like exponential debt loss. Great. Ed Stelmach tried this in Alberta and the plan failed miserably. So if they said the west was in previously, then the west is most definitely out now. I hope the fairy tale NDP on the Van. Isl. and bleeding heart Liberals in NFLD remember where the opportuniy was because "sunny days" are Trudeau 2.0. George W. How did that work out? Lets hope the price of oil rises and they kick the NDP out of Alberta as well because defecite years are going to be the death knell to opportunity out west. Trudeau 2.0.

So because my husband has to work 10x harder and longer than a lawyer to live and earn what is not near a luxurious lifestyle, he will now take home even less because he "earns too much". The reality is that the only people benefiting here are those who are ALREADY subsidized up the arse but keep popping out kids. People who are ALREADY living off of what my family pays in taxes. I am not a politically correct libtard who thinks it is ok that our new tax donation will also be put towards the 10,000 plus refugees that Trudeau will roll out the red maple leaf for either. One part of Canada just showed how stupid they are. The next time you get your AISH or increased welfare/subsidy help i will say "youre welcome" in advance.

Mark, my comments had nothing to do whatsoever with income splitting. All I pointed out was that low- to modest-income Canadians would in future now be able to collect OAS at 65, instead of having to limp along until age 67 (which is what the Conservatives changed the age to). For someone on a provincial provincial disability pension of ~$900/month, the increase to approx. $1300/mo (with OAS and GIS) is a HUGE increase. For someone like me, who gets CPP retirement and a small company pension, that's the difference between $24,000 (without OAS) and $30,000 (with OAS) a year - a big increase. Considering that I am also someone was diagnosed with a serious illness the EXACT same day as I retired, being able to collect OAS at 65 was incredibly helpful - if I'd had to wait to 67 (as people were soon going to have to do), I would probably have lost my housing due to financial hardship.

Taylor, gotta strongly disagree with your first assumption.
I voted NDP (for my MP Linda Duncan, not the less-stellar leader), and tho not in the 39% that voted Liberal I have a Major issue with one of misguided fiscal policies.
The article notes: "income splitting – another Conservative budgetary item labelled as largely benefiting higher earners– will be phased out for families," WOW complete Fiscal Ignorance!
As the zero-negligible income half of a Low-end middle income family, with kid/dog, thru medical issues from a severe neck injury suffered while off work. [Requiring ~ 1,000 mg of nerve pain pills daily and 3 vials of expensive Botox (for neck injection by Neurologist) every 3 months to reduce the constant pain!]
Elimination of Income splitting will increase our yearly tax hit by 1,000s of dollars yearly. :(
A 2% reduction in tax rates will Not offset most this fiscal hit.
But ok, hmmm, guess we can do without: food ... Or any vacation anywhere or ... Any relaxation events that cost $$ or ... You get the picture.
Income-Splitting really helps Low-end Middle-income families with just one main income earner!!
Surely income-splitting can be kept, but a top-limit Cap of say $75,000 imposed to prevent abuse by high income earners who can afford to pay tax.
Are you listening PM-designate Justin Trudeau???

The Conservative supporters must be out in full force voting on this one. In any case, the return of OAS back to 65 to 67 is a massive relief for low- to modest-income Canadians. Having to wait 2 extra years for that benefit would mean living in continued poverty or borderline poverty, when $6,000 extra per year can make a big difference. Few people realize that OAS is given to Canadians up to incomes of over $100,000/year - it is not completely cut off until about $107,000/year. There are plenty of articles online telling seniors in the $70,000/yr+ income range Canadians how to use the tax system to make sure they get the maximum OAS they can squeeze out of the system. It's very sad, considering that the majority of Canadian seniors live on far, far less. (Unattached seniors have a median income of $25,000/yr (2012); couples where one partner is 65+ have a median income of $52,300 presumably that would be less when both are over 65. That means that ~50% of Canadian seniors are living on less than these amounts. Few are rolling in dough.)

Picks and Shovel ! really that's the solution to the energy sector. As a 12 Yr long Oil field Rig worker I have and hold many Certifications including my Journeymen Red Seal Rig Technician. Yes that's right oil field workers do have a education. So with that being said i am now forced to throw my hard work, which includes weeks on end away from my wife and children. Missing many Birthdays and life events in extreme long days and night 12plus hrs at a time in extreme weather temperatures and conditions. The Energy Sector is not the answer to all of Canada's problem, but if you no anything of anything you will agree that its still a big part of Canada. Remember the time when the westerners all fled east for jobs and money..... oh wait..... no that never happen!

So 57.9% of the people don't feel confident with the economic plan but somehow the Liberals managed to get a majority . The biggest joke is that the bar for a family income to receive the child care benefit is just under $150,000 , I'm sorry but if a families income is anything over $100,000 tax payers shouldn't be subsidizing their daycare . The people that need the help are families like Monique 's in the previous post .

As far as I am concerned it can only get better. We have been promised things will get better for so long and it hasn't that now is the perfect time for change. I am hoping that the lower and middle income families can see a positive change for the future. I have yet to see the homeless find homes, the hungry get feed and the lower income find jobs. I am one of the lower income families and I have a disability. Its hard for me to find the money to take care of my family but, with hope and prayer I do it. I do it with next to no money and my family is happy and doesn't want for anything. We live with what we NEED not what we WANT. In fact when I researched what middle class income household earn its then I realized that I am now classified as lower income. For so many years I thought I was middle class because I never wanted for anything and my family always have what they need. I guess that the difference between lower, middle and higher class is what people WANT in life rather than what they need. All I can say is when did it become more important to have everything in life than to just have a happy life?
