What should NASCAR do with Matt Kenseth?

I think they should give Kenseth a medal!

  • Dave - 9 years ago

He deserved what he got, him and daddy both need a good punch in the mouth. I used to like joey but no more, he lost all respect. How many times has he wrecked other drivers and nascar did nothing.

    nascar need to do o

  • Scott - 9 years ago

as a former champion Matt knows better and should sit out a race but Joey should also sit out he started it by hitting Matt and he has a record of doing stuff like this so they should have been doing something about this with Joey before now not wait til the chase and Joey cry about it when he's been doing this all season

  • Scott - 9 years ago

Do nothing look what logano did to him at kansas!! He deserved that so let logano cry about it all he wants. What would he say if dale sr would of done that. He did that throughout his whole career. So let him cry and be a baby sit in acorner and pout.

  • sonya - 9 years ago

I don't. think Nascar should do anything to Matt he didnt really do no more than any other drivers have done in the past , if Nascar wants to do something , then do something about teams blocking to try and help each other out . that was the problem during the race. The 2 and 22 was at it all day , they had already gave warning to the 22 about keeping the same speed. And then the 22 goes to pass the 20 and then he almost comes to a stop in front of him , the 20 had every right to put him in the wall

  • Me - 9 years ago

This is at the heart of NASCAR. I agree with June C...if NASCAR wants to do something, then fix their messed up Chase Cup rules they instituted this year. What Matt did was basic short track racing. Nothing more. If Logano can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

I am a big Nascar Fan since the 1990's. when Jeff G. was winning. I LOVE Jeff and I hope he wins the Championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will continue to watch to see Jeff G. announce the races. I say do nothing to Matt K. I HATE the new chase format. I blame the chase format for the way drivers are are acting. It is unfare to limit the number of drivers who can win the CHAMPIONSHIP. I say GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT WHEN THE DRIVER WITH THE MOST POINTS WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have read all the comments about what the fans think. Nascar should do nothing to Matt. Again, I say do nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not think that Matt should be singled out while other drivers have gotten away with infractions. People have said that Joey did nothing wrong. I remember a race when Joey got mad and drove Denny H. into the wall on purpose and broke Denny's back and nothing was done to Joey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder how Joey won 3 races in a row and was going to win another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are the chances that he could have the fastest car 4 weeks in a row???????? I find that very hard to believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • T Stephens - 9 years ago

Nascar can't have it both ways, encouraging "the boys" to work things out on the track opens the door for this action we are witnessing. Set up some rules that aren't subjective and have clear cosequences in place and everyone will know what is in store for this action. Nascar is getting exactly what they wanted with the way they have set up the chase format. :-P

  • Peter Charles - 9 years ago

At this point, it is time to borrow a few rules about driver behavior from the SCCA concerning blocking and intentional contact. Let this stuff go and we'll see someone killed before too long. However it absolutly muust be even handed and certain or it will cause s a revolt in the ranks. It got so bad that even Patrick rammed a nemesis!!!!

Attn: Brain France, Mike Helton, Steve O'Donnell & Robin Pemberton
Matt Kenseth has one of the best driving history records ever by any NASCAR driver ever since NASCAR started!!! THINK ABOUT THAT!!---STUDY THAT!!!! Put yourselves in his shoes . NO Matt does not drive for sponsor TARGET, but Matt had a bullseye on all 4 sides of his car the last 3 + weeks!!! WHY???? Because the 22 & 2 plus a couple others knew he was a threat to them in the CHASE!!! Matt was having a GREAT year , only to have it taken away by some careless and unprofessional race car drivers!! TOTALLY UNFAIR TO MATT ALSO. Since you, NASCAR did nothing or said nothing to stop the assault on Matt and protect his accomplishments and very hard work by his TEAM , Matt had no other choice than to serve "JUSTICE". To the #22 !!!!!!!!
Matt's. Year is wasted because of those actions by the # 22 & # 2 . TOTALLY UNFAIR TO. MATT. ALSO.

  • mark - 9 years ago

Nascar should be giving Matt K a bonus for all the extra excitement he brought forward this year. 24 hours after the race and we are still talking about it.
I do think Joey is a little kid, and doesn't understand the give and take is really respect given and earned. If his car was so freaking fast 2 weeks ago, he could have simply driven around Matt and just driven the car. Yes, old schoolers like Dale Sr would have done the same thing, its more of what Nascar is missing

  • Grady Boney - 9 years ago

I don't think it's right for keselowski and logano to control the starts as they we're doing as i imagine kenseth was fed up as well, not to mention taking him out as they have in the past races as well as the
previous laps of this race. Looked like to me keselowski ran him up the tract deliberately and meant to sneak him into the wall. one thing about kenseth is he ain't trying to be sneaky about his actions and i commend him for that.

I do not see why if nascar is so darn gung hoe abt the deal .joey wrecked him in Kansas, stopped in front him at talladaga and him and his dam teammate kezz the punk wrecked him at Martinsville while kenzwith was going for the lead. I THINK NASCAR OFFICALS NEED GLASSES.plus joeys daddy thinks hes a badd ass why don't nascar punish his ass ?hes not a racer or a pit crewman .MAKE HIS DADS ASS WATCH THE DAM RACE FROM THE STANDS .ASSHOLE TOM .kiss nascars behind lol you and penskie.

Joey, payback is a bitter pill to swallow but you got what you deserved.
Your wrecked Matt in Kansas; your teammate Brad deliberately wrecked Matt in this race.
The Martinsville fans were standing and overwhelmingly cheering for Matt; that told NASCAR how they feel.
Now this online poll is saying the same thing.

I hope Joey Logano gets no more chances for the chase. Sorry to his fans but he is definitely not a good racer. He cheats and whines way to dang much to be called a race car driver. People have to open their eyes and realize that and what he is doing is NOT GOOD HARD RACING! Logano eat your own words!!! It's just GOOD HARD RACING! Now get over it!

  • mikey - 9 years ago

how many times has joey wrecked other drivers and nascar did not a damn thing

  • danny - 9 years ago

I love it. PAYBACK is GOOD.

  • Sue - 9 years ago

Joey got what he deserved. Brad deliberately wrecked Matt. Brad & Joey teamed up to take Matt out. Wonder who came up with that idea! The fans were standing & cheering for Matt. That should tell Nascar how they feel.

I agree that Kyle Petty's comments were not appropriate! We need commentators who actually have won races. Nascar needs to stop changing the rules for each race. I think this format is frustrating for the drivers and for the fans.

  • Charles Dent - 9 years ago

Shake Matt's hand and case closed. Tell Joey that pay backs are Hell.

  • Connie - 9 years ago

Kyle Petty was never much of a racer and now should keep his mouth shut! All he is doing is stoking the fire. He should keep his opinions to himself. NBC Sports should take him off the air for voicing his opinion. Joey Logano got what he deserved. NASCAR is so inconsistent in its disciplinary decisions that nothing should happen to Matt unless Logano, Harvick and Keslowski are disciplined, as well. Logano and Harvick causing wrecks could have seriously injured (or worse) other drivers. Both should be seriously fined and suspended for the remainder of the season. NASCAR needs to establish rules before the season starts, stick to them and stop showing favoritism to certain drivers.

  • S. Benjamin - 9 years ago

Logano is a complete jerk! You did nothing with him when he did what he did to Kenseth at Kansas! Logano is a baby and is a shame to NASCAR! Further, do NOTHING with Danica either! DG is a "going nowhere" driver and takes advantage of a small track to act big. Let's see him try that on her at Talladega.

  • Wendover51 - 9 years ago

JOEY ought to be thankful that wasn't DALE SR. He'd be on his way to both the Dentist and the Proctologist for repairs.

  • racingfreak - 9 years ago

@John re: " If NASCAR doesn't come down hard, they will lose the respect of many fans...and maybe lose fans, too!" Uh, did you not hear that crowd cheering for what Matt had done?? Sorry but Nascar already has lost a lot of fans and also fan respect. Do you look at the empty seat at each race? And they keep taking seats out to boot. No it's not just the 'tracks' fault, nor ticket prices, but that does add to it. It is all on Nascar. All the crazy things they keep doing as with the points system, ridiculous rule changes, et al, is the MAIN reason for fan loss and empty seats.

  • racingfreak - 9 years ago

I am not wading through all the comments to see if this has been mentioned, so forgive me if it has.
If everyone will fast forward or rewind, which ever, to just after the wreck and listen to Joey's spotter,
you will get some insight as to what was happening when everyone thought Matt was intentionally
taking him out. You will hear his spotter saying 'still down there' several times with a loud increase
in his voice just before they hit. Now why do you suppose he was getting more insistent with his
warning? Maybe, just maybe Joey was drifting down the track. Then ask yourself, 'why'. With that said
when Joey took Matt out it was deliberate and Nascar did squat. Slamming someone in the left
quarter panel is called a 'pit maneuver' in law enforcement. It will spin someone and that's exactly what
Joey did to Matt. Watch it. Again. In slow motion. You'll see it. And you will see Joey coming down
to block a laps down Matt for what ever the reason. No I don't call Joey a seasoned driver. He started
it and Matt finished it. Yep, rest assured Nascar will come down heavy on Matt. Yet nothing was said
nor done to Joey for wrecking Matt and ending his chance to go to Homestead. One way to win a championship is to wreck all your opponents, right? You like Joey. I like Joey. But Matt is a true race car driver, something Joey will never be. No, don't ever compare him or a few others, with Jeff Gordon. Jeff was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by this real racing freak!!

  • Paul - 9 years ago

  • """race"""" fan - 9 years ago

matt did what any real race car driver should have done. he needs
    to get braddie "boy" next.

  • JOHN - 9 years ago

I remember a time when Jeff Gordon started racing and folks felt the same way about him as they do about Kez and Logano. He was a up and coming talented driver who was not afraid to mix it up with the old heads. This is what you are seeing in these two drivers. They are both very talented and not afraid to mix it up. But, at least they do it in the process of racing, not intentionally wrecking another driver. I have seen Dale Sr spin out Rusty Wallace and vice versa, but it was racing. Call it dirty or what your want, it was still in the process of racing. If I have a faster car and you are blocking, as in Kansas, you will get turned. This was blatant wrecking a driver with reckless abandon. Gibbs should be docked points and fined, Kenseth should be suspended the remainder of the year and docked points next year. I used to consider Kenseth one of my favorite drivers, but I have lost any respect I had for him. If NASCAR doesn't come down hard, they will lose the respect of many fans...and maybe lose fans, too!

  • Duane Johnson - 9 years ago

have kenseth give longo driving lessons

  • John Thomas - 9 years ago

While you may argue that Kansas was a racing incident and Martinsville was intentional payback, the racing incident was still an incident that Joey Logano is ultimately responsible for. Whether he drove in the corner to intentionally hit Kenseth or he made a mistake and got into Kenseth the net result is the same and as much there may be repercussions for your actions. If that happens during the spring race Kenseth is probably still mad and there may be payback at a future race however given the fall race being in the middle of the chase and it probably being the final nail in the coffin of Kenseth's season after a poor race at Charlotte he feels compelled to repay the favour. If the stakes are lower the odds of payback are decreased however when you turn a 36 race season into three race shootouts any type of contact resulting in damage or missing out on a win is going to have consequences.

  • John Thomas - 9 years ago

There are so many variables that could be discussed but in its simplest form payback on the track under green flag conditions has been an accepted, and arguably at times encouraged, practice in NASCAR for a number of years. I don't think it should matter if the driver being paid back was leading the race, on the verge of a championship or running outside of the top 20. Joey Logano moved Matt Kenseth out of the way during the Kansas race which cost Kenseth a potential win which would lock himself in the next round of the chase, as well as 12 valuable positions that hurt his chances of advancing in the chase had he finished second. Kenseth was desperate for the win and may have been blocking Logano but he never blocked Logano in a manner that created an accident or noteworthy damage to either vehicle. Joey could have tried a different line to pass Kenseth or he could have got him loose without causing a spin however he took the third option and made contact, possibly lifting Kenseth's rear tires off the ground, which caused Kenseth to spin down to the apron and lose all of his track position. Logano cost Kenseth a win and now Kenseth has cost Logano a win. Unfortunately Logano's finishing position is much worse than where Kenseth wound up at Kansas but a fine and points penalty to Kenseth will help soften that blow. At the end of the day if you play with fire you're going to get burned and Logano knows what he did in Kansas and knew that some sort of retaliation was possible. He tried to rationalize his actions at Kansas but at the end of the day it doesn't matter why you do something what matters is what the net result was.

There has been rivalries and payback as long as there has been NASCAR racing. When you start changing the points system from 36 races to 10 races and then from 10 races to groups of three races the drama and tension will rise and issues with potential payback are magnified. Last season spoke out about the off-track issues their new chase created (Charlotte and Texas) yet where privately ecstatic about the news coverage and social media mentions because it brought attention to the sport. They want excitement, drama and to increase the relevancy of the sport as ratings drop and these three race seasons have brought all of the above to the sport. You can't have a driver's entire season hinge on three races at a time (8.3 % of the overall season) and not expect them to do whatever it takes to advance to the next round. In a perfect world Logano finds another way around Kenseth at Kansas or finishes second then the Martinsville incident does not occur however once Kansas played out as it did everyone knew that Logano was going to be paid back at some point and should be happy that Kenseth chose Martinsville and not Homestead. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, what goes around comes around, etc, etc.

I could go on and on but I don't see any difference between Kansas and Martinsville since they both involved one driver intentionally making contact with the race leader causing that leader to lose the race.

I have been a Gordon fan since his first Cup race in Atlanta and while he certainly benefited from Kenseth's retaliation I have no ill will towards Kenseth or Logano and could care less where they finish week to week. I cheer for the 24 not against other drivers.

  • paul p - 9 years ago

To me it looks like kenseth went up to bump logano, doing so cut his tire ( you can clearly see the puff of smoke from right front tire ) then they both went into the wall. But I think there both wrong the way they handle things.

  • Jerry Burnette - 9 years ago

I don't think nascar will pay any mind to what any of us think, but I'm giving my opinion anyhow, first those two bone heads that gave there little speech about Matt was unfair and clearly should not be in the announcers booth especially Petty he was trying to put pressure on Nascar to do something to Matt, maybe Jeff will replace him i hope so. What about Danaca she recked a car also but they never mentioned it or Harvick recked the field to keep his spot in the chase but old man Helton said he didn't see anything wrong, It's very clear to me that Helton and his bunch have there picks that can do anything but if your not one of them you suffer their warith, the way they have the points set up is a crock of ---- anyhow they should have expected something like this would happen, and o yes have at it boy's. last word GET RID OF PETTY.

  • Hutchison Cheryl - 9 years ago

Matt Kenseth is a hero! If Nascar fines Kenseth they need to go back and fine every single driver that has wrecked another car. Logano wrecks people all the time and just dismisses it as "good racing". He isn't that great of a driver and I think it really is suspicious that he suddenly won three races in a row. I think Nascar needs to look into that.

  • roger - 9 years ago

It is Quiet clear monst of those writing comments are Kenseth fans. They need to pay close attention to the replay, you can hear Matt accelerate, that is why Joey didn't clear him. I used to like Matt, But the last several years his anger towards what he perceives other drivers delibertly wrecking him has escalated, in my mind he could have seriously injure Joey, and yet may do so to some other driver, or even kill someone, he has become a danger to himself and other, Nascar rvoke Kenseths lisence for a year with mandatory anger mangament. For those who can not see what actually happened watch the video closely and listen, Matt never tried to turn his wheel.

  • Don - 9 years ago

If you watch the replay, it clearly shows Logano coming down on Kenseth. Even his spotter kept repeating "he's still there, he's still there". If Logano had stayed where he was, Kenseth would have went into the wall on his own and Logano would have avoided being wrecked. So the way I see it, Nascar should let Kenseth alone and do nothing to him. If anything Logano should be the one punished for causing the accident. And the announcers suck. All they talk about is Logano and Brad K. If Nascar punishes Kenseth over this then I feel like the fans should boycott Nascar and supporting it!!

  • bebop - 9 years ago

I buy season tickets to two race tracks and if Matt is penalized, I will drop those season tickets and those tracks will lose money. NASCAR better be ready for the fallout if anything happens. I watched my video over and over and over. Yes, Matt went up but if you watch, he never hit him. Logano then came down and they hit. Come on people! That is racing. Oh and by the way, as far as commentators go, does anyone remember Kyle Petty winning anything and Parker Kligerman on NBC was a start and park race driver and now he is an analyst and offers his knowledge???? Really?????

  • Paul B - 9 years ago

Nascar did nothing to Joey when he spun Matt out not once but twice. so they shouldn't do anything to Matt for what he did. Joey is a Young kid who needs to show respect for his fellow drivers. Nascar should call both teams to the office and tell them that if there is another insident betwwen both teams then both teams will be suspended. PERIOD.

  • JohnP - 9 years ago

Since they did nothing to Logano they already dropped the ball. AFTER the season is over put rules in place stiff enough to stop this crap, OUTLAW blocking as they have in nearly all other forms of racing and make it clear to all IT WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. It is too late to do anything FAIR this season.

  • Bob Hall - 9 years ago

Joey should have stayed FAR away from Matt Kennseth. Joey came down on Matt and Matt went up to meet him. Joey took Matt out of the chase INTENATIONALLY! It was the last race in that round and Matt did not have any chance to make the chase. Joey still has 2 chances to make the chase finale. I think that this may have been a Ford vs. Toyota thing, with Matt being the strongest Toyota candidate to win the championship. Joey may have received a bonus from Ford for taking Matt out of contention. The chase only came about because of Matt's dominance in the past. Joey is a spoiled brat who hides behind his father. Every time he is involved in an "incident", it is ALWAYS the other driver's fault, or it is "just racing". Joey has NEVER accepted any responsibility for any of his incidents. A 60 year fan of NASCAR

  • Donna S - 9 years ago

The fans really got their money's worth out of that race. Several rivals taking each other out and a retiring champion inheriting the win. Priceless racing. Reminds me of the Cale Yarborough/Donnie Allison incident back in the '70's. NASCAR needs more stuff like that to gain the fans back due to lackluster racing.

  • Jim Work - 9 years ago

Looks to me as though Joey was moving down on Matt and his spotter was also telling his Matt was still there. To me I say Joey caused the accident on Sunday. If you look at the video and listen to Joey's spotter you will hear him tell Joey Matt is still below him and you will see Joey come down on Matt. The accident was caused by Joey. If anything is done to anyone it should be done to Joey.

  • Amy - 9 years ago

Logano chose to race dirty and wreck Kenseth out of the lead when Logano had already won Charlotte and was locked into the next round. Harvick lied about being not seeing Bayne when the in-car camera clearly shows him watching the 6 and waiting until he was in position to wreck him. When Harvick caused the caution that froze the field and ended the race, Kenseth (who got collected in the wreck) said NASCAR has completely lost control. Kenseth was contending for the lead at Martinsville before the Penske cars botched the restart and caused the wreck that took out the 2, 20 and 41. When Kenseth was laps down and had nothing to lose, he took out Logano not just as payback, but as a middle finger to NASCAR for mishandling everything recently. If NASCAR penalizes Kenseth, they will show their blatant favoritism for Logano and Harvick and become a bigger joke than they already are.

  • Patti Tissot - 9 years ago

I tried to teach my children to weigh the pros & cons and make the best decision, then they have to live with that decision. It's my oberservation that Matt & Joey made their decision at Kansas and now have to live with their choices. Joey & Brad will have to live with the choices they made at Martinsville while leading on restarts and Matt with his choice of payback. Sometimes when race car drivers put their helmens on and get in their race cars the brain stops working. My experience with and involvment in racing goes back 50 years, so I am not just an uneducated fan or observer.

  • Dan - 9 years ago

They should at least do what they did to Keselowski and Lagano...NOTHING!!!

  • Old Woman - 9 years ago

Go Matt go! I guess if you do those sneaky wrecks that is politically correct, but I thought Joey got what he had coming. Great! I agree -shut up on your opinion Dale Jarrett and Kyle Petty. Listen to the crowd-that is the real voice of Nascar and you better take heed. I`m just waiting for Kevin Harvick and Edwards to get their upcoming. Guess I like Brad and of course my favorite is the favorite.

  • Rhonda - 9 years ago

Why do anything to Kenseth when NASCAR refuses to do anything about Logano and Harvick when they pull the same crap! Kutos for Kenseth for having a "malfuction" yesterday at just the right time! I for one was thrilled with the results!!!

  • Gayle - 9 years ago

Thoughly agree with Doug. There is something strange when Pensky or Gibbs could not keep up and not all of a sudden they are dominiating all races. Logano started this 2 or 3 races ago when he wrecked Kenseth when they were racing for the win. Rubbing is racing and if you are going to penalize one driver then you need to start with Logano. He started is whole thing then go to Harvick and Brad as they as have done this in the last couple of races. Penalize them all or none. Isn't it strange how Hendrick drivers don't do this retaliation deal. Earnhardt Jr is the total class act when it comes to racing even if Nascar and Harvick did keep him from advancing. ALL PENALIZED OR NONE! Joey, Brad, and Kevin!

  • david robertson - 9 years ago

Dale Sr. would be proud of Matt Kenseth, and Joey Logan found out the hard way that kharma truly is a bitch. It was clear as a bell that Kenseth had a fast, very competitive car all day long and if it weren't for Logano's teammate Keselowski taking Kenseth out, this whole episode may very well have taken place on the final lap. Also, I have been going to NASCAR races for the last 40 years and it has been quite sometime since I saw a crowd react the way the Martinsville crowd reacted to Kenseth's move. Those kind of cheers and applause are usually reserved for race winners and
Dale Jr.. I'm 100% behind Kenseth's move because what goes around comes around.

Logano is still in the Chase. Matt was taken completely out of the Chase when Logano took him out...on purpose. Mat shouldn't have any penalties, just like Logano never got any penalties. Another point is....Logano took out Matt on a big track, not a short track like Martinsville. If people keep mentioning how dangerous it was for Matt to take out Logano, where's the cry about Logano crashing Mat Kenseth??? Logano has a history of his driving habits and Matt was always considered more of a gentleman's driver. I remember all the Earnhardt Sr. incidents in the past and that was always ok then (without all the safe barriers, hans devices, etc.)

  • Bandit - 9 years ago

Nascar did nothing to Harvick. To be consistent you must to nothing to Kenseth.

  • Catherine - 9 years ago

Nascar should stand up and applaud Matt Kenseth just like the fans did!

Both Penske drivers run over other drivers and they do nothing.

And Jeff Gordon should send him at least a Thank You note.

  • HARRY - 9 years ago

THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM EXTRA POINTS FOR GETTING TWO BIRDS IN ONE RACE.

  • jennifer - 9 years ago

I would like to know "Who" in Nascar keeps backing Joey Logano? He is a dirty racer. Just ask, Kevin, Matt, or Tony. He has no respect for anyone. "Except, Rodger". He did nothing in the #20 car. Gibbs fired him and Rodger's money gave him a fast car. He took Matt out of the chase. He didn't have to at all. His car was faster and he could of passed on the inside. When Brad wrecked Matt for the lead, Matt probably snapped. Who wouldn't? Joey got what he deserved. After all, Joey just has to win a race now like Matt had to win at Talladaga! No pressure. When Tony leaves Nascar, so do we.

  • GordonFan24 - 9 years ago

If I remember correctly, wasn't it NASCAR that stated they were no longer going to get involved in driver disputes with each other. In their opinion they would let them duke it out on the track?! Well, if my memory IS correct, then NASCAR should not do anything to Matt. They didn't do it to Joey when he hit Matt, so, in my opinion, pay back is a witch! If NASCAR wants to change their decision and start fining them for these types of situations, then they need to re-write the rule book for NEXT season, not in the middle of this one! I don't remember Dale Sr. (rest his soul), ever being fined for taking out other drivers! So why start now?

  • Jd - 9 years ago

    Rubbings is racing

  • Speed - 9 years ago

Wow, what did these people watch? Joey wrecking Matt was good racing 2 guys going for the win. Joey just moved him from blocking. Toyota's Kenseth LIE, CHEAT , CRASH PEOPLE TO WIN HAS TO BE DEALT WITH. IT WAS NOT THE SAME SITUATION. MATT TOOK JOEY OUT WHEN HE WAS DOWN LAPS , THE LEADER. IF THIS IS NOT DEALT WITH IT WILL BE A FREE FOR ALL. THIS IS NASCAR'S FAULT FOR MAKING TO MANY RULES! RULE REQUIRE MAKING MORE RULES UNTIL YOUR THE GOVERNMENT. 1 GAME SUSPENSION AND PUT MATT ON PROBATION FOR THE WHOLE YEAR IN 2016.

  • Greg - 9 years ago

I say.do nothing as well. Lagano and Keslowski would have to be fined as well. Lagano did the same thing in Kansas, only he wiped out Kenseth's at over 160 mph and on a curve! Did you see the fans reaction after Kenseth's car hit Lagano? It was louder than Gordon winning! The fans can't be wrong. I guess if you have the most wins during the entire season, you still can't race to win a championship unless the wins are at the end!

Nascar and their rules has ruined racing. That bullshit of finishing races under caution will cause several fans to just stay at home and watch fooyball.

Joey effectively removed Matt from the chase when he hit him. Joey already secured his place in the next round with a win the week before. Joey had nothing to lose and probably would have been able to cleanly pass Matt before the checkers fell. Joey deliberately took Matt out. He didn't want to have to race him in the chase. Harvick took out several cars last week in dega to secure his place in the chase all with no penalties from Nascar. Keslowski wreck Matt a few laps earlier and being a teammate of Joeys felt he had to stop this. Matt and joey meet up on the track and a score was settled. In my opinion Matt screwed up, Joey can win one of the next 2 races and still make the chase. I would have waited to Homestead to get my revenge. and cancel any chance of Joey winnig the Championship. All that said Boys have at it is exactly what they have been doing, and Nascar should stick to that ...No penalties should be place on Kenseth.

  • Tom Strothers - 9 years ago

Kenseth should be banned from racing for the remainder of this season. He has already adversely affected the Chase picture and should not have the opportunity to do it again.

This situation yesterday was absolutely ridiculous. I have been into NASCAR since 1951, so I have seen a lot of hard racing in all these years.I do not find fault with Matt, he has always been a clean driver and I am so tired of all the partiality that NASCAR has been showing to certain teams lately. Keselowski wrecked several cars a few laps earlier, including the number 20 car and caused damage to the front end and also to a lot of other cars. Even wrecked his own car and knocked himself out of the race. I fail to see why it was okay for Logano to take out Matt last week. I am getting thoroughly fed up with NASCAR and its ever-changing rules. I think it would be a grave injustice to penalize Matt since NASCAR did not penalize Logano last week.I think it is time for you all to get your act together before you lose any more fans. I was very happy to see Jeff Gordon win the race and I would love to see him win the championship this year.No penalty for Kenseth and good luck to Jeff Gordon

givem hell matt. nascar has caused this shit. the 18 was a bad boy at one time but nascar stoped that so im like a lot of the rest of you I have turned my tickets back in. Its Bristol Baby

  • Luis - 9 years ago

As Joey Logano stated previously and received no penalty and no points off and no suspension, in two previous races "its just tough racing".
Oh well Logano, "its tough racing!!!" Put your tears away, save your temper tantrum and name calling
    and call it a day.
As for the announcers and their opinions, shut up. How about the times Logano has antagonized and wrecked others purposely. Where were your negative opinions then.
As for Kenseth, bad day when you have a blow out. Keep driving hard and respect on turning the cheek three times. You done real good.
To Loganos dad, grow up. If you have to go fight your sons battles then he doesn't belong in the drivers seat of that car doing punk like things to professionals. He gets what he gives. Karma.
NASCAR - your opinions or feelings cannot lead you to your decisions. Simply put, it was tough racing!
Nothing to see here, move on!

I think that Nascar should leave Matt alone because they didn`t do anything to Kevin Harvick last week when he caused the big wreck . They also haven`t done anything to Lagono or Brad for wrecking Matt . I think when Lagono got into Matt that it cut his right front tire and put them both out of the race.

  • bill - 9 years ago

loganos spotter told he wasnt clear he went into mat so that makes it short track racing . the guys in the booth seem to be judge an jury . they didnt say anything about brad turning right into matt before that. nascar seems to be making joey their darling, we have seen this before. I have been a fan since the late sixtys . i say joey could have passed matt without contact . he should step up to the plate and say so . nascar warned joey about his restart game an they let it go . him an brad played that for everything they could . time to take joey off the nascar pedistal an be a man . let it go .

  • cowillie - 9 years ago

They should suspend him for at least 5 races, which goes into next year. They still should suspend Harvick from contending for another championship.

Has Logano become NASCAR's little princess that can do no wrong. He has had something like that coming for a long time, going back to the Hamlin incident last year and maybe before that. Nothing has been done to him for anything. Maybe Matt should get an award.

  • Robert Cw Lacey - 9 years ago

Nascar has a way of changing the rules. I look at this way. You wreck me, I am going to come after you. The drivers have been doing from the start. There is not one driver who can say they never went after another driver. Its racing...Nascar did this, by making the point system so F_ _ _ up. Go back to the way it was in the beginning. The one with the most points wins the cup. Not all of this bullshit. I am so upset with NASCAR, I even turned in my tickets for all of my races. I will never attend another race. By the way the stands look, A lot of others have done the same thing. NASCAR, you don't have to win a race to be the champ. Just the one with the most points at the last race,

  • peggy - 9 years ago

I used to respect Matt as a driver but after Sundays race that went down the tubes. It was totally wrong what he did. he was out of contention and just because Joey was winning he took Joey out of race. Joey is a respectable as some others are. Matt should be suspended til next year as far as I'm concerned. The part that makes me upset is Joey had the opportunity to win the championship and Matt didn't SO YOU CRASH HIM?

  • Chris - 9 years ago

Matt was in his lane. Joey came down on him. That cut Matts right front tire and he lost steering. End result with both of them out strait to the wall. Sounds like racing to me. So I vote do nothing.

  • chet - 9 years ago

NASCAR fans are the ones responding to this poll, listen up Mike & Robbie. At 60% and rising it would be asinine to do ANYTHING to Matt, he didn't do anything most of the other drivers haven't done. I don't pull for Matt but he's a 1000 times better driver and person than your beloved Joey Iguana (harmless lizard) will ever be!

  • Donna - 9 years ago

Joeys spotter was telling him that there was a car below him, but it clearly shows that he chose to drop down regardless of what he was told. Its amazing that last week, when Logano took out someone that "it was just racing" but when the crybaby had it done to him its a whole different story. Way to go Matt.!!! Somebody should have done it a long time ago. The grandstands are getting less and less people in them at every race. Why is it Nascar???? As I recall there was a very similar incident with Danica Patrick but, nothing is being said about that. Congrats to Jeff.

  • Doug - 9 years ago

Nascar didn't see anything wrong with Kevin Harvick at talladega, this was not any more blatant.

  • NascarFAN - 9 years ago

Harvick deliberately wrecked Baine to stay in Chase...NASCAR did nothing.

Kennesth deliberately wrecked Logano to take him out of the Chase...NASCAR should do nothing.

  • Bone - 9 years ago

Kyle can't say anything about Matt! Just cause your name ends with Petty doesn't mean you can throw stones. We saw what Kyle did to Bodine way back when! Get a life and a new dew Kyle! NASCAR made the rules to race each other hard, this is what you get! Punk ass Joey needs to get his Dad to beat up Matt's Dad! WWF is going to sponsor Matt next year. Can't wait for Homestead! Win the rest Matt!

  • the typical response of a GREAT N A S C A R F A N ....MONDAY MORNING was AFTER THE RACE ................. • Larry - 9 years ago

NASCAR said "Boy'z Have At It". That means NASCAR should do nothing about the on track issues. But as we all know NASCAR will change it mind & do something STUPID...AS is normal for NASCAR.

  • Donna - 9 years ago

Way to go Matt They can dish it out but cant take it. It takes a real man to do what Matt did. I agree with Matt wholeheartedly. But wait and see Matt will get the penalties and ok for Joey to do what he did. That is what is wrong with Nascar and why they are losing fans and respect. You should treat everyone equal and not have favorite LET THEM RACE. We used to go to 16 races a year not any more. Good Luck Matt for standing up for your right

  • Judith - 9 years ago

Matt was in his lane and joey went down into matt. So leave matt alone. joey went into matt. If you look at the tape matt was in his lane joey came down into matt.

  • Crystal - 9 years ago

NOTHING should be done like I said before unless they are going to go after Logano, harvick, and brad k! Just let it be! I love racing but this is getting pathetic!

  • Max Niner - 9 years ago

hey people watch the entire video and see Kenseth move across at least 1 1/2 lanes. now consider this ; Kenseth was not in the chase He was not trying to stay on the lead lap,He was TEN laps down!!! As a car being lapped (again) you are NOT to interfere with the FASTER cars, all he had to do was lift or move slightly to the left, where he should have been, (running as a slug) then he just carries on right up to slam into the wall!. If a guy in the bottom 1/3 of the standings did that there would be hell to pay! The fans want to see fast competitive racing NOT that crap we saw on Sunday; Kenseth is a very good driver and I admire his abilities but he blew his credibility this time. NASCAR please sit Kenseth out for 1 race; demolition derbies are for the local county fair.

  • lynnn - 9 years ago

Matt had a tire go down, big deal. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. If they can prove otherwise race on. Paybacks a bitch and she drives # 20. Let the fans decide.

  • debbie - 9 years ago

I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE. NASCAR GOT WHAT THEY WANTED. STARTING THE 2016 SEASON, NEW RULES NEED TO BE IMPLEMENTED. THIS FORMAT MAKES THE TEAMS DO WHATEVER THEY NEED TO DO TO WIN AND PAY BACK OTHERS FOR WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO THEM. I LIKED THE OLD FORMAT OF RACING FOR THE TITLE. WAS A REALLY BIG FAN. NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE.

  • moose - 9 years ago

Grow up joeey your took matt out you get what you sow don't be a puss you were already moving on in the chase so recking matt wasn't needed rubbing is racing stop trying to chickafi every manly thing out there
