Commercial motive aside, it is a genuinely beautiful sentiment.
I'm really looking forward to visiting Mom this holiday!

It perfectly illustrates how I have felt. I have no family living in Oregon, and it's days and weeks between any contact from any of my grandchildren or other family. I've been lonely and sick, and no one knows! It's quite heart breaking!

Sadly, this is how life has become. We are so busy doing "what we do" that we forget how precious and rare time together really is.

My only daughter died in gun violence. A graduate student, she sometimes could not make it home for a break or holiday. She was planning to make the long drive home that day, 500 miles. Loss beyond words.

After loosing both of my parents, its NOW that I realize that I should have spent more time with them. I imagine that they felt this way often and I'm ashamed! I miss them very much!

Those who still have their parents have a choice...don't make the same choice I did.

It's the truth that we are living now a day
s We get old and your family are
all doing fine But they don't call you or be with you when you most need them.

Being an abandoned parent of three boys, this rings so true. I an 77, left out, and with no explanations. They are just doing their things. One day I went online and there are hundreds and hundreds of abandoned parents. This time in my life if fragile, I yearn for family. I see a counselor when it gets too hard to cope. I have tried reaching out but no response. I live in a low-income community, attend church regularly, manage the art gallery at the church, am active in the community, as much as I can afford. Here it is Christmas. Alone again with no family.

A message that cannot be made too often. We have all sorts of social and internet media these days so that if we cannot travel there in person (and let's fact it, some of us can't, for various reasons), we can at least call on our cell phones. Our social media should help draw us together, not keep us apart.

Beats the hell out of any holiday commercials we see on US TV.

I've been in 'the biz' for 45 years [almost long enough to have known Don Draper personally] - my comment "I wish that I'd been the creative director on that one." It did exactly what it was intended to do; it evoked this kind of reaction -AND it got the message across loud and clear. GREAT WORK!

And, oh yea one more thing; it portrayed the dad/granddad, not as a pathetic stereotype of old age, but rather as a sharp, cunning, clever prankster who knew just how to get the kids to do what he wanted. An added bonus.

Interesting how many voted that the commercial had not gone too far. Yet how many of us find ourselves too busy to be with family until it is too late. Powerful, thought provoking idea. Carpe diem seize the day.

I had my wake up call 3 years ago. I lost my wonderful husband of 30 years at the young age of 50 to cancer. Never again will I let work or anything else prevent me from spending time with my love ones.

I work at an active retirement community but even here men and women are lonely, for family. In an age where use of high tech is our main source of communication, most older adults still prefer to hear an actual voice or walking to the mailbox in hopes of an old fashion letter. If you know someone who is alone please pick up the phone and call them 5 minutes of your time makes their day. Better yet stop by give them a smile, a hug, you'll be surprised how much it will do for the both of you.
