    Manfred....good Lord!

You have basically lobbied for Mr. Rose's continued ban as a lesson for future would be gamblers in the MLB. Of course, only those who are in a position to decide the outcome of any given game. So. Your basis is simply to make Mr. Rose someone to be made an example of.
If his indiscretion of 3 years of coaching/managing is enough to erase and deny his 23 years of playing in the MLB, then so should others who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Especially those who were inducted as Initial Inductees... The very first Hall of Famers.
Like Rogers Hornsby, An admitted Ku Klux Klan member.
Whitey Ford... Who openly admitted to cheating in MANY games.
Babe Ruth... Alcoholic, gambler and adulterer (fathered a bastard child even!).
And let's not forget Ty Cobb!!! Cheater, racist and murderer!! And all around ass hole!
Yet these men remain as Icons of the game because of their GAME PLAY!!
Mr. Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. If he is to be banned from every other aspect of baseball, then so be it. THAT should be his punishment. To deny this great ball player his rightful place amongst the rest of the legends is a crime against baseball itself. His 23 years of grimey, hard nosed, in your face baseball is what this game WAS all about. He epitomized baseball.
I feel sorry for all of those who only know what baseball is today. Those who never got to see or have even heard of Pete Rose missed an era of the game that we will never see again. TRUE baseball. Not today's watered down version.
He is the last of a DEAD breed.
Give the man his due. He, more than anyone else in this game, has earned that privilege.

    Manfred:

    You are a complete idiot.

MLB will allow Barry Bonds (who obviously used drugs to get his stats) to be recognized as a benefit to MLB, but betting on baseball is still considered a crime?

Pull your head out of your ass you ignorant fool.
I bet if I investigated you close enough, I'd find that you have bet on baseball yourself.
You are a hypocrite and need to have a baseball bat shoved so far up your ass so that you have clarity in your thinking.
Maybe if I shoved a bat up your wife's ass, you might see REALITY as it is.
Pray you never meet me in person.

    SATAN INCARNATE

Not a baseball fan - just an advocate for JUSTICE!!!!!!

I agree with you reasoning that Rose should not be allowed back in baseball. However, I totally disagree with your statements about performing enhancing drugs. The drugs were taken to enhance their sporting performance. They didn't do it for the team. They didn't do it to help the team win. They did it to assist their opportunity to keep playing a game that paid extremely well. It was all about themselves, not others. And if they took records away from past players in the process, tough.

What a ridiculous statement in this baised article when it states

"The guys who juiced in that era may have cheated some of their cleaner colleagues out of opportunities, but they did nothing to denigrate the sport’s on-field product, which necessitates every player to do all the things required of him to win every game."

They did NOTHING to denigrate the product is ridiculous statement. A ambassadors for the game there is no way that artificial aids should even be in their minds. How many sports allow doping or drug use and yet these narrow minded self centred individuals thought it would be alright in baseball. It forever tarnished the game and people will point at that "asterisk. this was all about individuals and nothing to do with the team game.
