Do You Think Han Solo Should Have Died?

It just seems to me that in writing and movies to have a character die to end there story is just no creativeness in it! In all the struggles the original character had, I think they should have a warm ending. I want that home team wins feeling. Han Solo it a man that should ride off in to the sunset not a disposable character for a plot. I really hope the Star Wars 8 finds a way for our beloved cowboy to find the peace he deserves!

where can I find a death scene

Han Solo isn't dead. It's just like Darth Maul. When he fell we all thought he was dead, but he came back.

Very surprised they didn't film more rage and sadness from Chewbacca.

Phil Haberkorn: Yeah, but the Reichenbach Falls weren't annihilated by a fireball.

As for the audience you were with: Could you have possibly ended up with any more pathetic losers?

Half the fun of SW is that the audience "gets into it."
I attended a Preview Night showing in a half-empty theater.
There was a smattering of applause when the opening theme music started.
    Then, nothing.
Nobody cheered the discovery and return to flight of the Millennium Falcon.
Nobody hissed at the villain like we did at Darth Vader.
Nobody was rooting for the Rebel Pilots in the dogfight scenes.
C3PO always cracks me up, but this time a guy behind me said "hey buddy, do you know you're laughing at a robot?"
Han Solo gets light-sabered by his own son, The Villain, and falls to his apparent death, and .......people just kept eating their popcorn.
    I want my money back.....

At the end of a Sherlock Holmes story, Holmes and Moriarty disappear while going over a waterfall.
    People assumed Holmes was dead.
Until more Holmes stories started coming out.
In SW:TFA, we see Han Solo disappear while falling into an abyss.
    People assume he's dead.
There are more SW movies in the works.....

Aside from what most people have said already about Ford only returning for one movie and wanting to die, when Kylo Ren kills Han, it made the entire audience genuinely HATE Kylo. The best villains in movies are the ones you feel emotionally invested in, JJ Abrams pulled this off perfectly by making the villain kill of a beloved character that also was revealed to be his father! The emotion in the scene ultimately got us more interested in the villain which set its self up for (hopefully) great sequels.

Anyone who didn't realize that ford only agreed to comeback for one movie was blind for two years leading up to it. They telegraphed it the whole time.

He looked every bit of 71 lumbering around. What were they gonna do with him? Have him review star charts with young pilots?

They did the best they could to try and tie up characters that are long out to pasture for space action movies.

How about Princess Leia? That was more painful to watch than a lightsaber to the gut.

I was 12 when episode 4 debued. I have just recalled that as kids we went to see those first 3 movies multiple times while they were
still in the theatres. Not so --with the rest of the series. George Lucas deserves part of the blame for creating villains in the second trilogy that with each successive movie became way too dark and sadistic. As for Han Solo, he was flawed, (a real man) but always did the right thing in the end. He was a hero. It is not believable at all that he (nor Leia) could raise a son that would commit cold-blooded fratricide. One more thing, I agree with Holly, Disney and Abrams (and maybe Harrison himself) did present the proverbial bird to the original Star Wars, and my generation too , by so unceremoniously dispatching an icon. And, by-the-way-- if they apparently were aching so much to make dramatic changes, then why didn't they just lay to rest that worn out "death star" weapon idea, and the secret carrying droid again? C'mon "imagineers." I guess you may have retreaded those repetitive story details because you think we are all a bunch obsessed purists that just freak out over stuff like sabres spouting perpendicular flames! Not me...I care about relatable, well developed characters like Solo who faces down impossible odds, fights and prevails over evil, and stays loyal to friends and family. I am not alone in this opinion: we do not like seeing a guy like Han subjected to some stupid "Freddie Kruger" mentality execution.

Success has made Harry a rich primadonna. He's insufferable in almost every interview for this release. I wasn't impressed - he hammed his way through every scene, got his death scene, and made millions on the backend again.

  • Ryan - 7 years ago

Han Solo's death was predictable. A major player always dies. Ford is old. It fits.

  • Bob - 7 years ago

Also, to the writer of this: You don't put the spoiler in the damn title that defeats the purpose of saying don't read because of spoilers, you just don't do that.

  • Bob - 7 years ago

All of you people saying J.J. messed up are incorrect, Harrison only agreed to come back if he got a death scene like he wanted in Star Wars: A New Hope

So don't blame J.J. Blame Harrison.

  • the world - 7 years ago

way to spoil this for so many people who were ubnable to see it the night it premiered by putting the spoiler in the title.

    you're an asshat lauren.

When this page comes up on Google, it has HAN SOLO DIES in the title!!! This is absolutely irresponsible, and you are ruining this movie for viewers. Change it, or people will remember this and boycott you in the future.

    HAAAAAAN!!!

  • kon - 7 years ago

Many will agree that han solo was killed of too early. Also there was no funeral for him unlike the jedi masters. Maybe in the next star wars 8 there will be an honourable funeral

  • Brian - 7 years ago

Well i literally seen my childhood die right in front of me today not thanks alot jj abrams for killing ham solo then throwing his lifeless limp body off a bridge.
    childhood dead.

  • Holly - 7 years ago

Seriously. My heart stopped. That was totally unnecessary. J.j. Abrams that was cruel, way to give a big middle finger to the original star wars.

  • Audry - 7 years ago

Damn you to Hell JJ Abrams!
