Being selected the Calgary Stampede Parade Marshall is a great honor. Noted politicians, World Champion Athletes, Canadian Heroes, Canadian Icons and people who have made an impact on Canada, the world or both. Who would not want to be included on a list that includes the likes of influential people such as Walt Disney, the Prince of Wales, Chiefs of the Treaty 7 Tribes, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, Catriona Le May Doan and many more. What was originally intended to be a joke, John Scott and the NHL handled what was initially an uncomfortable situation very well. They've put it to bed and it should stay there. In my opinion, not everyone who has been selected as a Stampede Parade Marshall deserved the honor, but that is a very small list. The Calgary Stampede is an iconic event known throughout the world, and people from all over the world come to our city to experience it. As a born and raised Calgarian this fact makes me proud. Even suggesting this is not fair to John Scott or to the Calgary Stampede, and after what happened with the all star voting, it's far from being original.
