I will watch dancing no matter what they do. But my husband who always thought he hated dancing, came to love the show - the deep emotions, they seductiveness, the beauty, everything. Now that he's heard it's only kids, he'll never watch it again. There must be many more converts like him who will be lost with a little kids show. I can see ADDING some kids to the show, but not completely getting rid of adults and replacing them, not just with kids, but with very YOUNG kids. :-(

I absolutely love SYTYCD and watch it every year, wouldn't miss it for anything. This show has really brought out good dancers and has encouraged those who hasn't made it, to not give up. I've seen that there has been lots of determination of previous dancers to come back & do better, and i'm absolutely sure the experience is awesome. Bring it on SYTYCD 2016

I have watched this show as well since the very beginning. While I do wish that they still did things as they did in the beginning years and had at least more guest judge spots or Adam back, I can say that I WILL DEFINITELY STILL WATCH this upcoming season. I'm actually kind of excited to see it. I respectfully disagree that the kids won't be able to take the criticism or the voting off. Kids that will be on this show will more than likely be very used to auditioning and taking constructive criticism. I am assuming most of these kids will have been in competition dance prior to this audition process. I think this is an amazing opportunity for this age group to be paired with the All Stars as there is so much that they can learn from these dancers and this can do nothing but allow them to grow as dancers. The studio that my 7 year old dances at actually has a "big sister/little sister" program that they are paired with for a season that basically takes them under their wing for the year and they can go to them for support and help with dance things or whatever else. It's a very positive experience being paired with an older dancer that they can look up to.

As far as the types of dances they can do, there are many dances they can choreograph that can be danced despite being 8 years old and still being appropriate without being "child" songs. I give the choreographers more credit than to assume they will be sexualized or babyish. There is such a large area in between those 2 aspects. I say give the show a chance and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I never watch SYTYCD but now that younger dancers are performing I think it will be really interesting and encouraging for young dancers. I really enjoy watching the next generation dancers dance and I will be tuning in for sure! Give the kids a chance!

This has been one of my favorite shows for years. I've enjoyed seeing "real" dancers, who will continue to positively influence the future of dance. Twitch and many others are perfect examples of that. (DWTS is just glitz and a way to advance a career for a short while. It's really shallow- almost more about the people than the dance.) Rather than repeat what was written above, I agree with all that was written above. The youngsters and family members are fun to watch during the auditions, but a whole season of them would be way, way too much. This is a really bad idea!

I have nothing to add to the previous comments except to say that I COMPLETELY AGREE! I miss Mary and her Tamale Train! I miss Adam Shankman and even Mia (though I was never a fan of hers--lest we forget that she couldn't stand Twitch and didn't even want to put him through on his original audition)... I hope she eats a LOT of crow now! I will DEFINITELY NOT watch this season! Sad to agree that this is probably the end!
PS: what about the dancers from last season who were excellent in their audition who were ENCOURAGED to come back?? They've now lost what is probably their last big shot.

This was my favorite show on TV for several seasons and it is sad that this is what they feel they have to resort to. It won't work. Many of the recent changes have helped tank the show like

1~the current judging panel (what happened to Adam Shankman and the other choreographers that were so much better?).
2~stage vs. street. This was a terrible idea!
3~Justin Bieber dance crew. Seriously, who comes up with this stuff?
4~performance & results on the same episode
    5~SYTYCD: The Next Generation

I assume the ratings have been declining in recent seasons which has led to these bad, desperate tweeks to the show. This latest change will be the death of the show. Will be sorry to see it go.

Like so many others, I had been an avid and dedicated fan of the show since its inception. However, I only made it through the try-outs and the first two performance rounds of the last season before I deleted the series recording altogether and it was COMPLETELY due to the judging panel!! I tried, but I simply could not put up with the drivel that spewed from the mouths of Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo! What a shame that the decision makers would make such poor choices as to the shows concept and the ridiculous judging panel and, in turn, alienate the viewers that had been loyal from the beginning. Needless to say, I will not be tuning in come May!!

Completely ridiculous for so many reasons! These young, pre-teen contestants will not be able to endure being voted off nor heed judges negative comments. They will be dancing just to show off some improved skills, but they will not be able to "connect" to any of the choreographers' visions since they have not lived life experiences of sadness, loss, love, pain, etc. I also think that pairing them with mature seasoned dancers is going to be awkward and painful to watch, not only because of the physical discrepancies but because it seems somewhat inappropriate based on the age gap and the type if material being danced. I've been hooked on SYTYCD since season 2, but I will not be watching anymore. Oh, and Jason Derulo!! Come on! What happened to Adam? Christina Applegate? Hell, even Jenna Dewan-Tatum would be better because she is a dancer and can talk in full sentances.

ENTIRE reason I liked this show better than AI, was ability to watch accomplished artists AFTER years of training and practice. Last thing I want to see is kids dancing. I can pull up YouTube or watch family videos for that! SO dissapointing.

I have been a faithful watcher since season 2 and even took a road trip to see the tour but this new season won't have my viewership. I'm done, bad decision to change format. Also I watch it recorded and always fast forward through Jason Derulo's comments, he is totally unqualified to be a judge.

SYTYCD was a machure show where older dancers could express their talents. I, along with many others, can fully tell this will be another Dance Moms. Very disappointed!

  • PAM ALLEN - 8 years ago

THEY ARE DONE JUST LIKE AMERICAN IDOL !!!!!!!

  • Terri - 8 years ago

It was the beginning of the end when they got Paula and Jason on the judging panel. There were so many others that would have done a better job and critique with substance.

I've watched the show since its inception and I have put up with the tweaks, but this one is simply bone-headed. Was the show in danger of cancellation? I find that implausible with so many fans tuning in each week. They should go back to the original platform, but overhaul the judges. I won't be watching and I suspect many more won't as well. What a shame!

  • Unbelievable - 8 years ago

Oh, not a good idea. Whoever came up with this must want to be fired along with the show being cancelled after this year. Maybe that's their plan.
