GREED, GREED, GREED and more GREED. The Greed of these companies is starting to take its course, meaning you want drivers to practically live their life out there on the road and pay you little money for it and they are getting money piled in their accounts for their kickbacks and perks, while laughing at us calling us their mules. Now not all of the companies say this about us, but some do and some treat us as such.

The shortage is due to too much invasion of the cab. Too many regs that really aren't in the drivers favor. Every time a civilian gets hurt, the driver is considered guilty until proven innocent. Too many eyes in the cab takes our independence away from us,, which is why we got into it in the first place. The allure to truck is to be able to work without someone breathing down our necks. To still be viable and productive. We're people who can thrive in that "alone environment". The folks making these policies, have either forgotten the true reason to truck, or never knew it to begin with. Some of these policy makers have seemed to of found this niche without realizing the effect of their actions on, who, what, and how . The results are now becoming evident, yet they're oblivious to the obvious. And ,YES, too little pay for what we have to put up with , on top of just doing our job,,,which is truckin.. As the EPA's actions affected truck manufacturers, so will these invasive policies into the cab, have their effects.. So as time move forward ,and as problems always seem to multiply, remember ,these were the good days.. Thx DC.

I believe there is a shortage right now but more importantly right now there is a huge shortage in freight!! I'm a owner operater but also here from my contacts about on the road slowing down too. I have friends in the fuel hauling business that have said work is scarice also. I'm hoping this is the winter slow down around the turn of the year we always see. But at the same time it seems to be moreso then it has been in the past.

all the companies are counting UN ASSIGNED trucks on their lots... EVEN the ones taken out of service and ones waiting for drivers to come in and move into them... add the fact that they want to grow and using this "shortage" excuse in order to get more in experienced drivers out there that they do NOT have to pay more than .30 cpm. persomally, I have 17 years experience and companies like Knight will only pay .33 cpm.

WHO THE HELL in their right mind wants to work for that little amount?????

Issue isn't shortage. Issue is the influx of persuade of becoming an owner operator at beginning from companies. Simply because it's cheader for theme to has less in overhead. So the issue becomes to many brokers passing frieght and taking from linehaul/tariff and reducing to cheap frieght by the time it even gets to owner. The change should be way increased since DOT want laws that hinder the owner (new trucks & expense) remember $150k for new truck before even talking taxes, downpayment, warranty, etc. So tell if loads are well below 2.50$ a mile how is anyone ablet to afford that? Then elogs are coming as mandate yet not one change has been made when any type of delay is cause and that truck is sitting still? Explain that

All these company's don't want to pay anything you drive for nothing at least half the time I have been driving for over 40 years trucking has turned into a joke. If I could do something else I wouldn't get back in one.
