What Do You Think of Starlight Glimmer's New Role as 7th Main Pony?

I don't get how people think she fits right in. Bad character is bad but oh well.

  • Yozhel - 8 years ago

Isn't it a little soon to ask these kind of question? the season just started and... Oh who am I kidding! she's perfect already

    @FSGSHSBOHM
    @Meep!
    @kang

If the three of you really hate this character to the point where you can't even enjoy the show anymore, then maybe it's time to stop watching

@Won't bother watching Mary Sue ponies

Did you deliberately make an account with a name like that just so you could write a hate rant on her? (And a real Mary Sue would be Radiant Hope from the non-canon comics)

    @Usagi1992

IKR? That's a reason why it's getting hard for me to get into this generation of MLP...too much hate and sometimes when they argue over the show's quality, it makes me question on what I think of the show's quality...

I wouldn't call Starlight a Mane Seventh though; she's still not part of them yet, nor will I think she ever will be.

I am just here for the shitstorms.

It makes me feel disappointed as people use swear words over a cartoon character.

  • Jared - 8 years ago

I haven't seen the new episodes yet so can't tell for sure

  • Zookz - 8 years ago

Picking "Other" for Sunset Shimmer as mane 7th. :)

  • name - 8 years ago

It's simple. She kills the twilicorn.

Balance is brought once more to the mane6.

  • mandy - 8 years ago

"She literally wanted to destroy the world just because her friend went away to school and just is forgiven like it was nothing!"

That's not true. She never wanted to destroy the world, just break up Twilight's friendship.

  • Medicine Cat - 8 years ago

Is she really Mane Seven, or is she really the Mane Six's Snapper Carr?

  • Daniel Moreno - 8 years ago

I HATE Starlight Glimmer. She was a poorly written villain with petty excuses for her evil ways, then just says "sorry, we cool right?" and all is forgiven? She literally wanted to destroy the world just because her friend went away to school and just is forgiven like it was nothing! I would forgive Flim and Flam before I ever trusted or forgave her. She is the first thing in this show that I have ever had a problem with and now we are stuck with her........ugh.

  • Usagi1992 - 8 years ago

(christ, is it possible to have just ONE poll without drama in the comments?!)

That aside, Starlight is all right, but maybe in time she'll rub off on me more. Oh, and the show's writers only "pandered" for like ONE episode (Slice of Life), so don't call the entire series shit for that reason.

  • hifibrony - 8 years ago

Starlight played a perfectly OK role in the premier, with the whole Sunburst plot line playing nicely into the central story.

    However...

The Mane Six need a seventh in the same way that the Statue of Liberty needs a glass eye in the middle of the forehead.

Supporting character or occasional guest star is the ONLY role for her.

  • ATroll - 8 years ago

This show fucking sucks now, because these brannies love shit! The show writers pandered to the shitty fans and now the show is bad. Bring back Lauren #MakeMyLittlePonyGreatAgain

  • Won't bother watching Mary Sue ponies - 8 years ago

It fills me with blind rage. This SELECTIVE friendships and who can redeemed and who can't is getting old.

  • Broken Record - 8 years ago

    She isn't the fucking 7th. She's the 8th. Spike is the 7th.

Technically, Spike is the 2nd, chronologically.

  • Kibate - 8 years ago

As others pointed out, we don't know yet if she is a mane7. The mere intro kinda disproves this, as it still shows only the mane6 singing, with starlight only photoshopped in at the end.

  • EmeraldSkies - 8 years ago

I like her, but at the same time, is she REALLY the 7th main quite yet?

  • don - 8 years ago

"See ya later Twilight I'll be at Raritys helping her with this next delivery and Sunset the janitor supplies
are where you left them bye!"

"The future is here, make the best of it. . ."

"Shut up Sunburst. . .grab the mop"

  • MrOmg - 8 years ago

She's alright but... not "main". She's just a Twi's student.

  • FSGSHSBOHM - 8 years ago

No fuck Starlight Glimmer, what makes her think she's earned being a Mane 7th? She was handed friendship and didn't do shit for it. Truly what makes a compelling character is just to be given shit you didn't earn and feel slightly sorry for yourself and you're in, regardless of any of the actions you previously committed. Oh and you're also more important than the Mane 6 sans Twilight of course because screw actually using the cast in interesting and unique ways, just shove a Twilight clone from Season 1 in there so the writers don't have to develop the other characters anymore. God fuck this cunt.

  • The End Is Near - 8 years ago

She has to be an element of harmony to be one of the main 6.

  • Joshua Moudy - 8 years ago

I can definitely get used to the new "Mane 7" concept.

  • lordelliott - 8 years ago

Starlight Glimmer is the Green/White Ranger.

  • That_OT_Ruler - 8 years ago

She IS NOT a mane 7th. SHE ISN'T, Sethisto. She is just a student. That's it. This poll is garbage.

  • jk - 8 years ago

sunset shimmer good pony mane 7 season 6

  • Frith - 8 years ago

That was a trick question. Starlight Glimmer is Twilight's student. She's no more a driving member of the mane cast than is Spike. Her role is closer to that of the CMC.

  • FlameRat - 8 years ago

I consider her as an important character besides Twilight, but not really a "main pony". Mane 6 is still mane 6. Reason is, after 4 seasons, mane 6 has become some sort of "teachers" rather than "students", but Starlight is a student of Twilight.

By the way, I think Starlight is now living in Twilight's castle. (Unless Twilight gave her a house like what Celestia did.)

  • kang - 8 years ago

Nope, would rather not see Starlight ever again. After watching the Season opener, I'm not that impressed and quite honestly I feel like walking away for good. All I see is the pathetic bully, who multiplied any hurt she had experienced 10 fold by spreading that same hurt to everyone she encountered, and now she gets to live with royalty. Fuck that shit.

  • SeraphimDawn - 8 years ago

    As I expected.
    It's another Sunset Shimmer effect.
This POLL is somewhat opposite of what the mood in people were back when the season 5 finale aired. It was overall negative back then.

  • Meep! - 8 years ago

Starlight will always be evil communist villain to me, as well as the "Villain Who Suffered Most From Ignorance of Potential" award, and several others along the same line as well. She worked so much better in the Season 5 premier, and I have yet to see that same level of greatness out of her a season later. "Squandered" comes to mind. Whatever the case, the Mane 6 is crowded enough. We don't need another damned main character, and I don't think I would be complaining anywhere near as much had they not also wrecked her backstory and villainous material in one fell swoop at the end of the season that nearly killed my stay in the fandom.

  • Sailor Sedna - 8 years ago

Just voted "hasn't grown on me yet." I dunno if could see Starlight being a 7th member, but then again, time will tell, and I am growing to like her more. At least the pony races are balanced now (two pegasi, two unicorns, two earth ponies, one alicorn).

  • PhonicB∞m - 8 years ago

I'm not sure what to think of her yet. I didn't particularly like her as a villain (except when she broke Twilight's brain mid-speech, that was priceless), and was skeptical before I saw The Crystalling, but I have to admit, Starlight is kinda cute when she's out of her element.

  • Bryce Kanyon - 8 years ago

Given that Starlight Glimmer would have a spot in the intro this season and taking to account that she was given a place to in Twilight's castle, it was quite clear that she was going to find some place as part of the group. Now I don't know if it's the right time or if it's still early to call her 'part' of the Mane 6, which is probably the Mane 7 right now if this is true. Still, this was to see whether her sudden reformation from the season finale was worthwhile or if it wouldn't make us change our opinions. But seeing as how she was still going through some insecurities, even taking any means to avoid talking to Sunburst out of fear of what he'd think of her, this goes to prove that just because she was reformed doesn't mean she still has problems. This goes that as Twilight student, she has much to learn before she truly understand friendship the way the Mane 6 have handled it for five seasons before Starlight.

Still, once she finally confessed the truth of what she's been doing and even learned something from Sunburst, it definitely appears that a great weight was lifted off her back and it's touching to see the 'Starburst' deal become official. Having said that, I definitely know it's going to take more than a two parter to make her feel like part of the group. This friendship lesson she had to learn on her own, even when a 'whole' script on how to tackle a lesson was provided. Give her some more episodes, some exploits with the group, and allowing more growth to her character I may learn to call this group the 'Mane 7'.

Otherwise, for now I consider this quite 'all right' but the more episodes we get from Starlight to learn more about her and to see if she continues to grow then perhaps her reformation will truly be worth it. Just a little more time for this season, that's all I need.

  • Sailor Sedna - 8 years ago

Wait a minute, she's now part of the group and is known as the Mane Seven?

  • Samuel - 8 years ago

I'm glad the majority of people took the stupid "I don't care" answer.

  • Badly Drawn Turtle - 8 years ago

    @Icy Shield
    It consists of:
    I love it!
    I guess it's okay.
    I don't care.
I don't like it yet, but my opinion will probably improve over time.
    I hate it!
    Other.
I Internet-diagnose you as needing a remedial English class.

  • Badly Drawn Turtle - 8 years ago

Other, because I'm not convinced she is one, yet.
Also in protest that the CMC and Spike still aren't counted as main characters after 5 seasons.

  • Icy Shield - 8 years ago

Basicaly this poll consist these options: 1) yes 2) yes 3) yes 4)yes 5) maybe 6) other

  • don - 8 years ago

Spike's got swag with the nags, Rerity's going to get jealous if you keep cruising the cobble stone streets.

Glimmer fits, now if we can get some changlings to foalnap Flurryfart!
