Worst idea I ever heard of. Alcohol leads to abusive language and violent behavior to some people. It's bad enough our government. Allows children to drive machines that kill ( vehicles ) but they can't drink alcohol...but put people on the beach on a hot hot day to get drunk in the sun and ruin everyone else's time at the beach. Strange how this is considered fun. Even stranger....don't hear about people smoking Marijuana becoming verbally abusive or violent.
Already knew a drunk that would run around with a loaded shotgun. Lost 2 friends and had one friend lose their mother from a violent drunk..do this and Vancouver will get a really really bad reputation. People don't behave well in public places any more. If you move forward with this? I for one will never go to a public place to enjoy my time with vulgar and abusive behavior. This is all besides the point of the beach is SUPPOSED to be for FAMILY not disrespectful drunken fool.
Vancouver the NOT fun city.

There are children on beach, not a good example for them to witness alcohol, where it is suppose to be safe and fun.
and alcohol does attract trouble.
so it is NOT, a good idea for any alcohol to be served on beach..

Can we not just have one place to go that doesn't revolve around drinking or some other way of getting wasted. I realize of course that "drinking" & "wasted" are NOT synonymous however it seems to me that if you are going to be drinking at the beach, it might be a stretch to expect someone to be on their best behaviour when the whole idea of the beach is to relax. I realize also, from the poll results, that I'm in the minority but I think we're running out of wholesome destinations in the city. I for one would just like to keep some places sacred and safe and family friendly. There are a million places to tie one on in the city and I don't think that the beach needs to be one of them. It's not the actual drinking that bothers me. It's the behaviour around it. That's the part that worries me the most. I'd sure like to know what the age is the poll respondents was. Drinking does more damage and splits up more families from their families and their dreams than smoking ever has and smoking is banned more or less everywhere. So o guess the only reason the Parks Board are even considering this is for the immediate and automatically forever cash cow that it will be. If only they put as much thought into housing the homeless or rehabilitation.

Alcohol consumption and hot sunshine is always a bad idea. That aside, while a majority of people will not do so, there will be those who will drink to excess and ruin a day at the beach for everyone via drunken behaviour.

I think serving beer and wine at beaches is fine but controlling consumption will be a problem.

No alcohol in public places Vancouver has proved they can't keep things peaceful under he influence of alcohol. Do people not remember the riots in this city. I drink and if I want to drink I drink st home or go to a bar.
