Long time Apple user here. Could not wait for updated MBP any longer as my next work computer as a Creative Cloud expert. Went to Microsoft w/ a Surface Pro. Not perfect, but the computer and the detachable touchscreen are highly useful. So, even if I waited for the new MBP, I still would not have these features. Apple is moving backward. So disappointing. BTW, Windows 10 reminds me of when Apple first released OSX. The operating system has not been an issue. The docking station for the surface and running two large monitors, however, will have a class action lawsuit against it someday. Overall, I do not regret jumping ship. Apple has moved backwards the last 2 to 3 years.

As a visually impaired user of Apple productions, taking away physical keys and other such things makes it very difficult to use, when I do a lot of things by touch memory (ie 3rd key from the left, 2nd key from the right).
Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should be.
Who is running Apple these days? Microsoft? The ideas that have come out of Apple since OS X Lion was released have been nothing but downhill.

I would prefer a freaking TOUCH SCREEN! Not having one makes it really hard to develop iOS apps and you can pretty much forget being able run iOS apps on the Mac without one even with bitcode.

I have this on my Thinkpad Carbon X1 that my employer provided. I don't ever use the laptop because of this.

only downfall i see is when you have to actually troubleshoot with the f keys and they don't work because of some sort of driver issue. also if you use the dual boot options, alot of windows fucntions need working f keys during boot up, if they driver has issues you'll lose that ability. just looking at it from a troubleshooting standpoint.

dealbreaker
This is smart step towards removing all mechanical keys and updating to intelligent assisted interactions. "Small steps Ellie, small steps" ????
If you want a touch screen keyboard you buy an ipad
Leave the mbp with regular keyboards!!!!
Please no! Lenovo tried it a few years ago and it was truly dreadful.
Don't have a laptop but would like to try it
