Not sure just how many real tourists visit this attraction versus repeat local visitors. Not sure who would travel from out of the area to walk over a bridge. And just where are they spending money? In the neighborhood on either end of the walkway? My guess hardly.

And 5 MILLION guess that will be quite a visitor's center awarded to a friend of a friend to fill their pockets. Surely, there was a better use for $4 MILLION of taxpayer dollars then a $5 MILLION restroom facility. Wait till the structure of the walkway needs work and guess who foots the bill?
This was supposed to been done with private funds now we have the walkway, elevators, and new "welcome centers" just another money pit paid for by the taxpayers.

What a waste of money. When are you going to fix Rt.44 from Pleasant Valley all the way down to Burnett Blvd? When are you going to fix the intersection in front of the old Weissenmuller deli on the corner of Rt55 and Overlook Rd? How about Rt 376 along Dutchess County Air Port? Hey, the rail trail is nice and smooth though.

It is better than the dream act that the assembly just approved 27 million dollars for illegal aliens in ny to go to college. Oh I apologize I meant undocumented . Myself I would rather spend money on state parks.

$5.5M for two centers? $4M of our tax dollars? Who's building these things? Has everyone gone mad? It's a sidewalk for crying out loud. Walk across, let your dog leave a memento, walk back. Whoop-de-doo.

Meh. It's a walkway. Over a river. I don't understand all the excitement.

Amenities always pay off but It's difficult to see how a visitor's center, even selling tourist trinkets, would recoup the expenditure. On the other hand, people gravitate to convenience and the small conveniences of benches, clean toilet facilities, close access to the entrance from the parking lot are the reason why we drive across the river to enter the Walkway from the Highland side.

Bring back the Empire State Games and generate real revenue. Stop wasting tax payers hard earned money Cuomo!
