Gary. Fisher, with the NFL Draft in mind, chose not to play Gurley in that season-ending game with the 49ers. Fisher wanted a loss. Don't read anything else into that game's performances.

Steven Snyder, you are not an experienced football watcher. Keenum threw 2- 60 yard completions in 2015. Is that down-field vision? Thanks for the laughs. By the way, Keenum is the All-Time Record Holder over 19,000 yards passing, and 155 Touchdowns (NCAAF) If he gets with an NFL team that chooses to utilize his abilities, he will lead that team to the Super Bowl!

Fisher is practical. I think he will start Keenum, and when, towards the end of the game, when the W or L is obvious, he will put Goff in. I predict Goff will look bad. He will throw Interceptions. That performance will keep him on the bench.

Keenum very slow at seeing downfield and he is not very accurate with his passes Goffs got a very quick release and hits his recievers in stride. Keenum is to short and cant move fast. Goffs will exstend plays.

Keenum - He played the 49ers to an OT loss in last years season ending game in SF. This year will be a season opener in San Francisco ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. IMHO, that equals too much pressure for Goff.

Bud is right, whoever appears best able to win the game after reviewing pre-season games should be the starter. Once acquired, a player should be evaluated solely on performance not draft spot, contract size, name recognition etc. The exception to this is once the likelihood of playoffs is out the window, then playing players not yet better than the current starter is defensible.

The reality though is that the thumb is on the scale in favor of Goff. Keenum will have to significantly outplay him to win the initial battle. I expect this to happen because Keenum is good, transitioning to a Pro QB is hard for even excellent college QB's and I am not convinced Goff is that special. Its so hard to figure out which college quarterbacks will thrive in the NFL. We'll see, Goff could be one of the all time greats, merely a serviceable quarterback i.e. Mark Sanchez or a bust.
