Waiting for my nursing exam results so I can be a licensed nurse and start working. I have a job that is waiting for me to be licensed. The postal strike will mean that I cannot start working as early as I anticipated ; (

For all of those small businesses affected by the strike, check out Chit Chats Express. It is a Canadian owned company that is saving my business by offering affordable shipping services. Check it out, and leave Canada Post to deal with their BS.

I am a Dutch woman, who lives in Canada since 2013, married to a Canadian. It took me almost 3 years to finally get my permanent residence. May 3th I was told that I was a permanent resident. Now I am waiting for my permanent resident card, which was send June 30. Without this card I can not get my medical card, can not get my Canadian drivers license and are not able to travel to the Netherlands, where I still have to arrange some business with the bank. So yes, I will be directly affected by a lockout. My other official post, like tax, retirement, is send by post from the Netherlands too.

Like many other individuals that rely on the Canadian mail system for incomes, I will be one of those people who require cheques by the mail. These cheques cannot be received by any other means.
This will also impact the worldwide populace as us Canadian's ship many parcels via the mail system , to other countries, as well as our own. Consumers have already invested their money in items shipped through our mail system and will not be able to receive them until workers commence their labour duties again.
When employees are first hired by Canada Post they should have to sign a contract stating that they will not strike; otherwise, they will be in breach of said contract and liable to be fined and/or face criminal charges. Worldwide people are effected by a lockout or strike of the labourer's of Canada Post and can have a disastrous impact on our economical system. ie.; Houses/homes lost or subject to foreclosure, inability of individuals to meet their families and own basic needs (food, hygiene products, etc..), in inability to pay utility bills and other expenses, less money in circulation (stock market "crash" possibly), closure of many small businesses. These are just a few of many examples of the negative impact on our network of societies nationwide.
Please come to a compromise or agreement sooner than later! We cannot afford the possibility of the devastating effects that may arise from stifling these services.

If they think they can't afford certain things now. Just wait until they upset 75% of Canadians who heavily rely on Canada Post for different reasons. Alot of people (the ones who can afford it) have gone elsewhere. I feel like they aren't being fair to those who rely on Canada Post for thier business. They're hurting their own country. I have important things in the mail too. The only ones who truly lose here are the ones who have absolutely nothing to do with these negotiations, the Canadians who put thier money and trust into this system. My heart does go out to the employees, for things like pay equity issues and the two-tier system, but this has gotten ridiculous. Canada should not have to pay for other people's differences and whatnot.

I am unemployed, and have an on-line business. I ship many parcels per day. A postal strike will destroy me. No question. I cannot ship via courier because of the cost. (usually 4 times as much as Canada Post). I have read many comments from people that THINK they will be affected by a strike. Like "I am waiting for a parcel". Who cares ? You'll get it eventually. For 100's of thousands of small businesses that rely ONLY on on-line sales , this is a disaster. Livelihoods will be ruined. Houses/properties will be lost. PLEASE CANADA POST, GIVE YOUR WORKERS WHAT THEY WANT.

I am waiting for a parcel to arrive from the United Kingdom. It is a mother of the groom dress. The wedding is next weekend. Guess I will wear a paper bag like the Paper Bag Princess.

I work for a small non-profit organization. Like many other small groups most of our payments are made by cheque and mailed to individuals and other small suppliers who also deal primarily in cheques and billings. Not everyone is set-up for electronic banking and an incoming transfer often has a fee for the receiving party.
It is the uncertainty that is most bothersome. Do I drop things in the mail or don't I? The union and Canada Post have been toying with us for weeks and I have no sympathy left for either party.
If the union position is so reasonable and strong, then there should be no worries about binding arbitration. Canada Post stands to lose just as much as the union and employees.
And I think it is quite disingenuous for the Liberal government to wash their hands of it and say they won't interfere. Why should they, they made a deal to have their mail delivered.

Like many other small businesses who rely on Canada Post for their deliveries, it sends my system into a tailspin and having to scramble for alternate shipping methods not only takes up time I don't have but severely bites into my already small profit margin. My shipping costs are set via my website to the customer so I have to eat the extra expense. Every time there is a strike it costs me big time and I am making less per hour than the Canada Post workers and have NO pension plan at all. I only wish I had a "Principle" to stand on!

I depend on Canada Post for my business parcels, of course my profit margin is down because I now use a courier but they are reliable alternative and I can sleep at night. I don't think PW are greedy at all...just unrealistic,

Stop playing the woman and the workforce card its so dated in this country...and many of us are smart enough to see through it.

I am sorry but Canada Post's business model is changing and change costs.

I'm an employee it will affect my family deeply, people just think we are being greedy when in fact that's untrue

I am also expecting a parcel. Unfortunately me for me the companies chosen method of shipping is Canada Post. I am worried about my return warrant expiring before I even the get product and I paid upfront so out my money and no goods!

I have a number of packages coming which will be held up until this settled. This will result in my exceeding the feedback limits and possibly having to accept a broken package (more likely if packages are handled stored by non professionals) without recourse to the sellers.
