The recent incident only reinforces the fact that in any given city an act of violence can occur. I'm more concerned about my time in Chicago when we have to catch our flight to PVR. In any city, people must realize that if you don't take precautions for your own safety, you are at risk. I still consider PV an extremely safe destination, as I do with many other cities in Mexico we frequently visit.
Why don't you mention that the ordinary citizens were from the Cartel and not just tourists. The press in the US mentioned this but you did not bother to mention. This would make a difference to someone who was planning on visiting PV but afraid of ordinary citizens being kidnapped.
I have never in 21 years of visiting felt unsafe or threatened ! As in any city in the US or elsewhere yiu need to be smart and aware of your surroundings. Vallarta will do all that is necessary to keep it safe- we all know the city depends on tourists and their spending. Do not let this incident mar that. Viva Vallarta!!!
