I honestly think teens shouldn't be allowed to vote, because in my opinion, even 18 year olds still don't have enough life experience.

I believe 16 & 17 year olds shouldn't be allowed to vote even if it's just on local issues. I don't think we are mature enough to make decisions that would greatly impact the lives of others. Although some may argue that teens pay taxes so they should be allowed to vote only a very small amount of teens actually have jobs and are required to pay taxes. 16 & 17 year olds aren't allowed to serve our country so I don't think they should be given the right to vote.

Personally, teens under 18 should not be able to vote locally because we completely lack a lot of the knowledge a mature adult has. Most teens do not watch the news voluntarily and would therefore not understand what certain topics are about or their consequences. There's also the possibility that instead of going with their own opinion, they might just follow their peers because they think it's the cool thing to do. Lowering the age limit may encourage others to lower the limits for other things as well, such as legal offenses. Unfortunately, they are just not experienced enough to fully grasp what's happening in the real world, because they're too focused on their own world.

Voting is a right that should be given to young adults at the age of sixteen and seventeen year old's. I, along with a multitude of people, believe that the young people of our community have the right to vote in the light of the fact that the things the adolescents are voting on affect them and their community directly. Apart from that, voting at an earlier age encourages and helps prepare young adults for the actual and more serious decisions that the will have to vote on later on in life. Many people say that, because of their age, they are uneducated and lack experience but, if we, sixteen and seventeen year olds, have the right to drive, work, and have to abide by the same laws as the adults, we should have the right to make our opinion heard.

I believe that 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote. 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote because it would improve civic participation in local events. 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote because it would give students a voice in how things that affect them directly are run. 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote despite that they are reckless and impulsive because many adults are like that as well and they are allowed to vote.

I believe that students should be able to vote because most of the time people are voting for something that will effect the community. Kids are turning into young adults at this age and I believe it's another responsibility for young kids and I think they can handle it. It also gives the kids this age to stand up for what they can and for what they are fighting for.

I think the voting age should still stay at age 18 because people who are underage do not know anything about politics yet they still got a lot to learn. The underage voting would let people who are 16 and 17 make mistakes on their ballot they just follow their friends and they would believe anything they hear on the internet and TV. They should keep the age limit the same. They still got a lot to learn that is why what San Francisco is doing is good because they are learning by letting them vote for their mayor and school board and other city officials that is how they get to learn. That is why the age limit should stay the same.

Personally, I think that giving sixteen and seventeen year olds the ability to vote would have a positive effect on our local communities. As a high school student, I've found that a lot of matters that are decided on in my local area, have a lot to do with people from the ages of sixteen to eighteen. I do not want to leave it to the people who aren't in my situation to be making decisions for me and people of my age, it would be biased. If I am legally allowed to drive (put my life and others lives at risk) then I should be able to vote on local issues that won't put anyone's lives at danger. Not only can people my age pay taxes and get a job, but many of us have been through situations that truly take an adults perspective. Now, I do not believe that ANY sixteen year old should be able to vote, I think that there should be regulations. For example, if there is a criminal record of any kind, or if they are not passing their classes, then they have proven to not be responsible enough to vote. Overall, the voting age for local elections should be lowered because our community needs a range of voices and opinions, even from this new, open minded generation.
