Did the DARE program work on you?

I'm the youngest of eight--so watching my older brothers and sisters do dumb sh!t and get caught and catch the business end of my mother's house shoe was ALL the incentive I needed to stay on the "straight and narrow" path. Being a shy, awkward bookworm also had a lot to do with me staying out of trouble.

I was in high school in the 80's so we got just a little of DARE during the annual anti-drug week. We did have Operation Aware, which dealt with resisting peer pressure, drugs, sex, etc. Basically they tried to scare us into staying on the "right" path. I guess it worked because I personally never got in trouble. But I think that had more to do with fearing my mother's wrath than anything they taught me in school!
