This bit of branding scuffle is going to bite Ford in the sales department as the 3 gains momentum. E type was originally a jag, (Ford once owned and then sold Jag) and Ford knows no one will confuse the various cars using 3 or E in their name. What people will remember is how Ford killed SEX just for spite.

Three horizontal dashes are seemingly inventive but really impractical (cannot type symbol on my smart phone for e.g.) and Model 3 is practical but ho hum. Why not use three stylized vertical bars and call it Model III....It will look nine and will be practical too. Tesla if u are reading this, I want a $1 royalty for every Tesla Model III you sell ????

I bet lots of people can read "Model 三". It's not a good branding if people don't know how to pronounce it. I like "Model 3", easy and clear.

Noooo!! The three lines are way more clever and fun than just "Model 3". It was the same as the E in the Tesla logo. Gosh I hope this isn't actually going to happen. The three lines are just so much cooler!!

I always liked the 3 lines. It's obviously unfortunate that it couldn't be the model E but the horizontal lines were quite close and 三 is the Chinese character for 3 so it worked on multiple levels.

The three lines probably will cause logistical problems everywhere. If you can't type it, it shouldn't be a product name. However, it's the cooler looking of the two.
