I'll continue using flux because it has settings to turn off the color shift automatically when using specific apps. I need a more true color when doing graphic design.

I updated to the beta but there is no tab in the Display options for Night Shift. My Mac is a 2011.

I am a retoucher and sometimes work late in to the hours. I calibrate my monitor for consistency every 1-2 weeks. Night shift would drastically alter my final image for clients, so it serves no purpose for me on the Mac, but I can see how it would be beneficial for others. I do use it on my iPhone.

If i had a mac, I would most certainly use it. But, I have a PC so I use the oldie but goodie from my iOS Jailbreaking days, F.Lux. Even using it at work during day, reduces my headaches I get. I wear contacts so they dry out less when I have it turned on = less headaches cause I'm not squinting.

I also have my monitor calibrated with the spyder 5 utility. Photography is only a hobby for me, but of course I also need the colors to be accurate when working on my photos. That make a function like night shift useless.

I currently use Flux sometimes, but noticed a performance hit on my base 2016 13" MBP.

I'm a designer and videographer, so I don't use it when setting up or monitoring color for projects, but after the colors are defined and just adjusting things it can be nice. I hope the sierra feature comes without the perf. hit I noticed with Flux.

I am a photographer. I demand accurate colour and consistent brightness at ALL times. I re-calibrate my monitors every month and they, and the ambient light around them are monitored at all times by a Spyder 5. This "feature" may seem cool to some, but people fail to remember how important accurate colour is. The number one reason mail order products are returned is because the colour doesn't match what the buyer saw on his/her computer screen. With "features" like this it's no wonder!

I'm a designer so I can't use nightshift because it's changing the colors of the display and my work. I'll consider using it while reading a lot at night.
