I always ask that the item be sliced thicker for sandwiches. I don't want shredded meat or wafer thin products that fall apart when making a sandwich. I am always shown the first slice so I can decide if it is ok. I don't expect a free slice, only ones that are cut to my asking.

I buy my fresh cold cuts at Wal mart where as they are good quality and better priced as well as faster. Btw in order to buy a sub, they ask to many "do u wants" vs it comes with ?? And then the c/s make any changes I owned a high volume sub shop for 30 years:) it worked for me and expedited much faster
