Moonlight stayed with me long after I saw it. I found myself really rooting for the characters and felt it was just so beautifully told a real wonderful movie.

sad that a film like lala land is considered to be "best picture" by s0 many.. ..not even a good homage to the classic movie musicals, and with a common storyline, not original in content. With so many other choices that are meaningfui...just a dumbing down of the viewers in my humble opinion..

Why would it be LaLaLand? So many better films were made last year that weren't ridiculous musicals. Don't get me wrong, parts of LaLaLand were interesting and cute, but lets face it, it was just Oscar bait. Fences is also Oscar bait, whereas Hell or High Water, Moonlight, and Arrival were just movies that needed to be made, that people happened to respond to well in order to be nominated for Oscars, which is just so much better. When you see a movie, you shouldn't immediately think "Well, this was obviously made to try to win an Oscar". It's just a formula now, and it's sick. There are plenty of lower budget films with far better acting being made that should be recognized.

Christ, no; I hated the disjoint yet overly stagey, and gauche musical LaLaLand, Damien Chazelle's followup entry to his own Whiplash (2014). Whiplash was **good**.
This really isn't. Mr Chazelle should see LaLaLand as a personal embarrassment precisely because he is a good writer.
A self-congratulatory ridiculous **musical** is a poor way to have a conversation abt jazz.
Urgh. (PS Musicals don't play so well outside the USA...)

Lalaland was easily the best picture of the year.
