  • Adam - 7 years ago

Peoria doesn't have to rely on perfect weather for the city hall to look good. It does it all by itself.

  • Richard Partlow - 7 years ago

Pasadena's city hall and civic center are very beautiful but are jeopardized by the council's illegal give-away of parkland and deal with a private developer to build a six-story hotel near city hall steps.

  • Laura - 7 years ago

Pasadena City hall is so beautiful, and surrounded by other lovely buildings. It is a pleasure to walk around there!

  • Gidget - 7 years ago

    Vive Pasadena !!

  • Barbara Rogers - 7 years ago

Pasadena by far exceeds the beauty and history of ANY city hall that may compete against it. While the iconic structure has been used for many TV and film locations because of it's beauty, it is the essence of the city's most important feature which is it's amazing community.

  • Barack Obama - 7 years ago

Peoria, so beautiful ????So if you disagree I bet you haven't been to Peoria.

  • Silvia - 7 years ago

Whenever I see Pasadena City Hall, at day or at night, I stop to take a long look. The building is so beautiful, both from afar and very intricate upon a closer look. It is also placed in such a way that it is in a corridor of other city buildings - the library and the convention center, and that views from streets leading to it allow for nice framing. Seeing it makes me smile :)

  • Juice - 7 years ago

    Lets GO Pasadena, Ca

  • Babs - 7 years ago

Historic Pasadena's exquisite landmarks have provided the background for so many movies and commercials! How proud we are of the elegant and often unique architecture of our homes, bridges, hotels, Caltech grounds, and the truly majestic CITY HALL. The last two times I visited City Hall, I witnessed a very excited tour group -- exclaiming over the lush and peaceful grounds and the lovely flowers -- and a bridal photographic shoot, which was delightful to watch! This landmark is awe-inspiring, and I always leave with a smile on my face and a sense of serenity that positively affects the remainder of my day! Hooray for our City of Roses!

The Pasadena City Hall is the magnificent jewel at the center of the City's Civic Center. With it's dome, palatial facades, balcony corridors overlooking a beautiful fountain and courtyard, the Pasadena City Hall is a place sought out by residents and visitors alike for its character and it's calm, not just it's function for carrying on the peoples business.
The Pasadena City Hall's beauty and elegance is symbolic of the grace, sophistication, and welcoming spirit for all people that Pasadena seeks to become.

  • jmw - 7 years ago

What does Peoria have vs Pasadena? This isn't a city contest. It's a city hall contest. But since some folks seem to want to make it that way, consider this:

    BORN IN PEORIA:
Jack Brickhouse (sports announcer), Charles Correll (Andy of Amos and Andy), Wayne A. Downing (US Army 4-star General), Dan Fogelberg (musician), Betty Friedan (author, feminist), Joe Girardi (baseball catcher and manager), Harold Goodwin (actor), Tom Irwin (actor), Jim Jordan and Marian Driscoll Jordan (Fibber McGee and Molly), Tami Lane (Oscar winning makeup artist), Shaun Livingston (NBA), Billy and Bobby Mauch (twin actors), James Milhollin (actor), Richard Pryor (comedian/actor), Jack Quinlan (sports announcer), Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon), Matthew Savoie (Olympic figure skater), Bart Shatto (Broadway actor), Cynthia Stone (actress and wife of Jack Lemmon), Jim Thome (MLB), James Marshall Thompson (actor), Liv Warfield (singer, songwriter), Frank Wead (Oscar winning screenwriter), Richard A. Whiting (composer), William Bert Woodruff (silent screen actor). There are dozens of others.

LIVED IN PEORIA AND/OR ATTENDED BRADLEY UNIVERSITY:
Philip Jose Farmer (author), Neil Flynn (actor), Jerry Hadley (opera tenor), Hersey Hawkins (NBA), David Horowitz (consumer advocate), Robert G. Ingersoll (orator), Sam Kinison (comedian), Camryn Manheim (actress), Kirby Puckett (MLB), Albert Pujols (MLB), Kristen Rakes (actress), Aaron Michael Reilly (actor), John Shalikashvili (US Army General), Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (radio and television host), Hope Summers (actress), Sander Vanocur (TV journalist) and Christopher White (TV production manager.) There are dozens of others.

Peoria isn't some tiny hick town. It also isn't a suburb of a much larger city, as is Pasadena. Yes, you have the Rose Parade, but Peoria is the home of the longest running Santa Claus parade in the country. It also has the oldest high school west of Pennsylvania that is still open. The National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) is in Peoria and developed the first industrialized production techniques for penicillin. We are home to Bradley University, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and Illinois Central College. There are 20 Peoria listings on the National Register of Historic Places, including our city hall.

Our city hall was designed by Reeves and Baillee, in 1897, at a cost of $271,500. It was dedicated in January, 1899, and is still in use as the city hall. The Peoria Civic Center was built around it in 1982.

  • Edwina Travis-Chin - 7 years ago

Not only is the city hall in Pasadena, California a beautiful example of Mediterranean Beaux Arts architecture, but it also has the distinction of being LEED certified!

It serves as one of the architectural crown jewels in a city that prides itself on being socially progressive, ecologically sensitive and dedicated to maintaining cultural diversity and a sense of community .

  • SMSteve - 7 years ago

Pasadena's City Hall is awe inspiring. The kind of architecture that just does not exist at that level anymore. Move out of the way Peoria, Pasadena's coming for you!

Pasadena City Hall is the most beautiful and inspired City Hall. It is my simple pleasure to drive by it whenever I can, especially at night when it is all lit up. My husband and I went there on our first date! Let's go, Pasadena!!

  • jmw - 7 years ago

It's awfully strange that in the last round, Pasadena only got 599 total votes to beat Mosier, OR, who got 226. Why the sudden interest?

  • Barbara Wood - 7 years ago

We love our Pasadena City Hall. It is beautiful in daylight as well as at night. The inner courtyard is lovely and everyone is invited to enter and to stroll around and enjoy the garden and fountain. So it is not only the center of our city government but a destination as well.

  • YoshiAndAstasMama - 7 years ago

omg just kidding, duke it out, guys!

Pasadena Native and hands down our city hall is the most beautiful! Countless weddings, quinceneras, prOM photos, engagement photos, films, and television series were filmed at City Hall. Leslie Knope wouldn't have it any other way!

Whoa, whoa, whoa ... let's all just take a deep breath okay? I live in Pasadena and am definitely voting for the home team, but you can't say Peoria has nothing to offer! Peoria is America! I remember first learning the phrase "If it plays in Peoria." And if it's good enough for Groucho. . .

Pasadena, CA is home to several tourist attractions; the Rose Bowl and January 1st, Rose Bowl football game, the annual Rose Parade, the Wrigley mansion, many architectural significant private residences, our
City public library, and our unique City Hall! Sited at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, a portion of the incomparable Sierra Madre range, our warm climate makes for ideal living conditions. Please tell us what Peoria, Ill. has to offer?

Pasadena City Hall is the crowning jewel of our city. It's a classic building and is used in many movies, wedding backdrops, and City functions. It's not uncommon to see a wedding party gathered in the courtyard or hallways for photos. You'll find photos of the building in many of our local businesses, too, along with other vintage phones of parade floats and some of the many historic homes.
