All of the exhibitors have a commercial reason for supporting the event but it isn't just about that. If you last went when it was Focus on Imaging then a lot has changed:
There are almost 500 different sessions taking place around the show to help you improve your photography and creativity including inspirational speakers such as Salgado, Albert Watson etc etc
There are demonstrations of enormous amounts of new technology that will likely effect the way you take pictures if not now but in the future.
There are also activities (ie. a photowalk with Joe McNally) around the event as part of Capture Birmingham.

I went once a few years ago, and everybody was trying to sell something. Since I'm not buying, why go?
