    I don't think It'd be 8, just because if it were true how they would name the iphone of 2018?
    Making it "pro" it can have a continous numbering ...
    2017 --> iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 7 Pro
    2018 --> iPhone 8s, iPhone 8s Plus and iPhone 8 Pro

    anyone? =)

    Apple Phone !
    Great to see that I'm not alone with this (somewhat logic) idea.

    IPhone Infinity (the infinity symbol)

    I like iPhone X, or Anniversary, or as someone suggested 7X
    I think skipping numbers or not using them gets confusing.
    Technically, I have the New iPad, which is a 3. But they didn't call it that.
    So, I have an Old New iPad. :-|. See what I mean.

    Let's face it one of the smallest functions an iphone has nowadays is being a phone, so let's drop that. what does an iphone actually do? it connects you with the world (via phone, text, internet, social media) so lets call it the "Apple Connection" or something along those lines

    iPhone 2000

    Slightly outdated, yes, I know that, but giving a nice and warm reminiscent glow on that futile y2k frenzy.

    Apple Phone. Now's the time to rebrand iPhone and this is the year they can do it.

  • Chris - 8 years ago

    Apple needs to get rid of the numbers after the name. They should name them like an iPod touch or like the macs.
    "iPhone" (11th gen) OR "iPhone" (late 2017)

    Something like Era or Decade. I got it, Dynasty - One that dominates their league for an extended period of time.

    To continue with the rebranding of Apple products away from beginning with "i" the new flagship iPhone should be renamed Apple Phone
