What do you think of only having the center display on the Tesla Model 3?

I think we will get something like in Star Wars. Do you remember the aiming device that Luke disengaged shortly before attacking the death star? Tesla hired an expert for helmet huds. They did this for a reason and it is in line with the statement that it will look like a space ship.
When you have all the info right in front of your eyes you won't need a it on the windscreen.

What if some idiotic thief breaks in your model 3 to yank off the monitor thinking he can sell it for 200 bucks ? What would u do to monitor other car functions in the case ?

How about the day when you want to drive the car rather than the car driving you. You know like a Sunday drive to nowhere! I will have to see the final Model 3 before I cancel my order

What about a docking station for your phone, and a BT interface on the car, reporting the vitals to the app? Since you already carry the "cluster" in your pocket, why would you need another one attached to the car? This is not rocket science and it's not even new, OBD scanners have been doing just that since mid 90s.

My preference is to have a gauge cluster in front of me, and I would pay extra for it. I wear polarized sunglasses - so HUD would be useless during the day (for me).

If the only option is the center screen I'll have to see. It would be annoying not to have it right in front of you. At the same time a lot less gauges are needed for a tesla.

Was looking forward to and would prefer to have a heads up display even if it was an option to purchase as an extra. Do believe that it may still come available in future model 3 but not at the beginning when Tesla wants to release car without any hitches. If this is the case wish it would have the hardware available even if it would take awhile for it to be activated

    Let's see, what's on a regular car's instrument panel?
Speedometer? Check, Model 3 has this.
Fuel gauge? Check, battery level is there.
Odometer, total miles and trip? Check.
    Direction? (PRNDL) Check.
Oil Pressure? Tachometer? Pretty sure Model 3 doesn't need those.

Bottom line: it's easy to display the 4 or 5 things really needed on a 15 inch center monitor. Warnings can pop up as needed if the diagnostics detect something.
