Since it seems she wasn't paying attention to her child and the child wandered up to the chained dog, she should be stabbed in the face! Not the dog. So yes she should be charged to the fullest extent. But this happened in Hempstead so what do you expect. All those people know are violence. Such trash!

Well given the area that this happened in, I'm not at all surprised that she resorted to violence and cruelty to the animal because that's how these people are in that neighborhood. However, since it doesn't seem that the child was seriously injured, this bitch had no right to stab the animal MULTIPLE TIMES. I don't think it's a mental illness like another person said, I think it's just ghetto trash.

She should definitely be charged and never allowed to own a dog. They don't bother to tell you that the dog was in its own backyard on a chain and the POS who stabbed the poor dog allowed her child to go into the backyard and allow her 1 year old boy to pull and bother the dog as it was outside and chained up so he doesn't run so he couldn't go anywhere. The mother should not only be charged with animal cruelty, but also with endangering the welfare of a child. What mother would allow their child to torment a dog that is on a chain. That poor dog is currently in surgery because of what that child's mother caused to happen. The dogs name is Rex and he's a beautiful 1 year old husky. I am glad that Rex's mom pressed charges against her sister and I hope they throw the book at her. What's really scary is if she would do that to a defenseless dog she would most likely eventually do it to another human being.

She's clearly insane and she be put away , who acts like this ? She needs to be treated for mental illness , no healthy person would start stabbing a dog let alone her family's dog because they got angry peope piss me off everyday I dont go stabbing them , it's pretty scary a person like that would be walking free , I understand you feel protective and upset because your child got bit and they're many many other ways to deal with the issue . Was she watching her child ? I know children and they are not gentle with animals unless you teach them they pull on the tail and fur and hurt the animal . And judging by the mother actions she clearly not an animal person so she must not have thought her child to treat the animal with kindness . She should be charged she's mentally ill .

I don't know the severity of the bite to the one year old child... I think she went insane and reacted crazy

Dog should be put down the the owner fined. Of course with the standard lame Patch reporting we don't really know what happened. But if a dog aggressively bit one of my kids i would kill it right away.

Being a father, I can empathize with this mother regarding her reaction to her 1 year child being bitten.
And if she had done it to protect and prevent her child from being dangerously mauled, I would condone it.
That being said, I am a fierce dog lover, and I think her actions were a gross over reaction and feel very bad for the dog.
