If you don't have kids and are a broke ass couple, a do it yourself divorce is great idea especially if you're trying to get out of a marriage quickly. NYS offers free divorce meditation where you and your soon to be ex can hash out the terms of the divorce without hiring an expensive lawyer. Luckily, my union offers free legal help so they helped me spell out the terms I wanted.
