I have always been a Richard Petty fan, and truly believe what Richard said is true. He is very honest and trust worthy and is a man of high principles. I do not believe Smithfield Foods at all. Smithfield Foods is just another big company who do not stand behind what they say. I do feel that RPM could do a lot better and now is the time to get a good driver when there are a number of really good drivers available out there who are looking for a ride. Good Luck RPM and Richard Petty.

Been a Richard Petty fan since the late 70's.. I'm really disappointed with Smithfield for leaving but I'm more pissed that they have accused Yhe King of lying. If Richard says there was a handshake ???? deal, there was a handshake ???? deal.
Bacon used to make everything better, However Smithfield brand leaves a sour taste!!!!! ????

I've been a fan of the king since I was a little kid. And if he said they had a hand shake deal then they did. No way would the king lie or create false hoods. Can hardly believe smithfield said this. Fare well to them us true petty fans will always root for the king rpm and the famed 43!!,

Richard Petty has done more for the sport than anyone. He is respected by all that know him. This sounds like the problem with society today. A verbal agreement and probably a handshake is unfortunately no good when you are dealing with someone who doesn't keep their word. I think it is obvious who is not telling the truth here and it is shameful. What Smithfield has given to the sport is a drop in the bucket to what Mr. Petty has contributed. There is a big difference between the Petttys and the Stewart part of SHR.

I first met Richard Petty in 1966. At that time Richmond was a dirt track. I believe him to be a man of the highest integrity. I believe the representative for Smithfield Foods has been called out and is trying to cover his lying rear end. All of us Petty fans will continue to pull for RPM Motorsports no matter who the driver is and I'm confident another sponsor will jump at the opportunity to be associated with such a fine organization.
