It’s time for the Apple Phone name. We have Apple TV and then Apple Watch. Let’s get away from the “i” thing once and for all. So many other companies now use it anyway. You have iThis and iThat from everywhere. I vote for them to finally just call it the Apple Phone.
And while they’re at it, they need to change their phone ???? emoji to at least include the X as an option. Dontcha think?

Just call it iPhone. I’m tired of the naming scheme. Just the 2018 iPhone, just like they do with Macs. Unless there is something actually pro about the new iPhone, like pencil support, I see no need to call it pro.

iPhone pushed me to Galaxy.
That’s what they should name them.

How about iPhone X2?

I’ve been shopping for an alternative to my new MBP with TB, but all the prior MBP and MBA models are very confusing. People recommend one of the 2015 MBPs with the old (better) style keyboard, for example, but it’s tough figuring out what’s what. I wish they were designated more clearly.

I think they should make the x next year with a much larger screen like the plus models and call it the iPhone XL

I think they may do another year and we’ll get an 8s but it would be confusing and kind of silly to come out with a 9 when there’s already a 10 and naming the next one as XS sounds like quite the marketing problem. I think there is one point being missing about changing it to just the iPhone, Apple doesn’t sell older MacBooks and iPads along with the older ones while it does with iPhones. So when there’s the new iPhone and the old iPhone being sold together how will they differentiate. Unless they’ll tack X generation which we are currently at 11th. So 12th generation, might be a lot going in

I think you are overthinking it. It is obvious what they are going to do. They are going to kill the iPhone branding completely and change it to apple Watch the way they have been branding all of their new equipment. Done and Done.

iPhone/iPhone Plus (Late 2018)
iPad Pro (Early 2018)
Apple Watch (Mid 2018)
If its been good enough for the Mac series, why not the iOS hardware?
Just my thoughts.

I think the Mac lineup is confusing to know what’s what when it’s a product you don’t follow. I think the numbering system is fine and makes it easy to know which is the latest and greatest product. I think at present people would go for the iPhone X over the iPhone 8, but going forward, I don’t think I’d like just ‘iphone’ and Some stats, unless they were different. They need some differentiation, whether it be the year they came out or successional numbers. I think buying a MacBook has become somewhat as a minefield and will only get worse with further years and more products following suit.
