How can that be fare to the drivers that spend most of their time on the road eating at truck stops and restaurants, that can eat with his wife at home????? Bullshit

I read one story and the per diem is retained, another says the per diem is gone. Seems like no one really knows what will be available for drivers to take. If I lose per diem, I will lose money. Simple as that.

Not all of your income will be taxable. Your standard deduction doubles. Makes filing taxes easier with less paperwork. You don’t have to pay a tax guy at the end of the year. If your trucking company makes more money there is a better chance they keep you rolling instead of seating at Flying J being broke. What good is a per diem if you don’t get it until next year?

With the elimination of per diem all of your income will be taxable and could push you into a higher tax bracket meaning more taxes. On the positive side, Trucking companies and management will make out like bandits
