    BC Govt motivations for, potentially, building a new hospital in Surrey are a consequence of perceptions that this is what South of Fraser voters want...

    Due in part to their limited perspectives on complex issues with "province wide" implications, most Voters are not always right in terms of their parochial objectives for govt spending in one or several neighboring constituencies...

    This is one of those rare occasions...

    There are currently provincial govt plans and enormous financial commitments to build (and or dramatically expand) half a dozen other new hospitals across BC, in addition to whatever decisions are made re potentially building a new Surrey hospital...

    Instead of building a brand new hospital in Surrey, the existing Surrey Memorial hospital complex should be expanded, with criteria that would make SMH a Centre of Excellence in one or more medical specialties, with formal ties to the University of British Columbia's medical faculty and research programmes...
