This is a hard one to call. It would be great to develop more well maintained and managed railway lines (Are you listening Amtrak...?) in Oaxaca and elsewhere in Mexico. But we know that corruption is rampant in Oaxaca. Monies earmarked for major projects such as the highway from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido or the garbage processing plant outside of Oaxaca City go “poof” and then come endless excuses as to where the money went and why the jobs are years behind or never even started. No wonder Mexicans are so pessimistic. The last president that they trusted was 150 years ago.
