The Hall trade was done to make room for Lucic, you need to look at that deal from "Is Larsson and Lucic worth Taylor Hall?" and in my opinion yes they are.
Oilers CANNOT score. Off course you blame coach and his staff. It's been going on for number of years. Don't blame the goalie he needs support. Gretzky HELP
Chiarelli has decimated the Oilers. First with the second worst trade in Oiler history by trading the franchise player in Taylor Hall, who is having an awesome year. The Eberle trade was made out of spite, Jordan didn’t play well in last year pkayoffs but at least he scores in the regular season.
Ryan Strome just isn’t in Eberle’s skill level and makes way too many mistakes. Another bum deal from old Peter C
Not re signing Matt Hendricks was another Chiarelli blunder. Look at the tenacity he brings to the Jets, he isn’t sexy but wow could we use him eh Pete?
The one thing Chiarelli did manage to do was kill any chemistry the club had last year. Ya it’s not sexy is it Pete? I can’t inagine you doing much worse, well you’ll probably end up trading away Connor and trying to tell Oiler fans it’s a sexy deal.
Chiarelli has made some moves which have hurt this franchise, the move of obtaining Strome for Eberle has not panned out, that was a bad trade!!!. Why did he let Tyler Pitlick go? , Pitlick was one of the best forwards last year racking up points until he got injured. Not to mention the Taylor Hall deal which was not in Edmonton's favour. He should have moved Hall for PK Subban when the opportunity was there unless Subban did not want to come to Edmonton. Charley need's to find a veteran puck moving defenceman to anchor the underachieving defense core. Not to mention the Griffin Reinhart deal which was another bad move on Chiarelli's part.
Obviously the oilers will not make the playoffs this year , Chiarelli should be fired. However having said this there also needs to be a serious look taken at the coaching staff on the specialty teams side also. If they cannot get it right with putting the right players in the right role get someone else who can do the job.
