Wondering if the individuals complaining about this change know the history of the song? I'm not sure how many versions there are, but this recent change, I belive, brings the song more in line with originally adopted version!

  • ChantalP - 6 years ago

It is part of our heritage and the new words don’t even make sense! What a waste of time, So just leave it the same. Waste of Canadian dollars on this bill!

  • Gloria Baratta - 6 years ago

I sang this National Anthem just the way it is for over 70 years and I do NOT want it to change!
The tail is wagging the dog in this country! JUST STOP ALLTHE NONSENSE!
Your job is to govern... try doing that for a change!

  • Adela Tarnowski - - 6 years ago

Ridiculous!! .... are they going to change also ..."God keep our Land...." because people who doesn't believe in God may be uncomfortable??
There is not need of any change!!!

  • Cheryl - 6 years ago

Might as well change "Our home and Native Land" to "Our home on Native Land"

  • Martin Fehr - 6 years ago

Absolutely rediculous. This Counrty will never have any real heritage as we continue to listen to minorities and make changes to suit them vs listening to the majority!

  • Greg - 6 years ago

When someone says "That offends me" It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't hold weight and they need to get over themseleves. So It it offends you, So FUCKING what

  • Trevor - 6 years ago

In 1984 the words were changed to include God Keep our Land because our Anthem repeated O' Canada 100 times during the song.
    That was a welcomed change.
    Not this time.
Let's just revamp the whole song.
Sick of being called a racist because of saying I don't like something or someone.
I guess I'm a frigging racist then and PROUD OF IT!!!

  • East Duchess - 6 years ago

Sounds stupid and is a total waste of time and money; I don't plan to sing this latest change which doesn't even sound "English".

  • Cathy - 6 years ago

I am tired of having everyone’s rights pushed down our throats. Quit wasting money on such trivial matters.

  • Bob - 6 years ago

Again. The voices of few far outweigh the views of many. This crap is just going to keep happening unless we all stand united and protest against it. And for the LGTBQ community, don’t push your ideas and agendas on me!

  • Jane & Duane - 6 years ago

What next? Can we please start to govern & quite all this stuff. They couldn't pass Wynn's Law which would have helped police forces all over Canada but they can WASTE time & money changing the national anthem!! Where are their priorities?

  • Karen - 6 years ago

Our government (paid via our tax dollars) is hard at work on such a trivial matter - changing the anthem. Please, please, please focus on homelessness, the Trans Mountain Pipeline, the economy, infrastructure, tax evasion by the wealthy, the integrity/morality of politicians and senators, etc., etc.,etc.

  • Janice Loffelbein - 6 years ago

Doesn’t majority ALWAYS rule? Why are decisions being made with the minority? Is anything sacred anymore? I will STILL sing O’Canada the way it’s always been sung. I will STILL say Merry Christmas! I will stand up for MY beliefs & MY choices. Enough is enough!

  • V.Walline - 6 years ago

I will sing the national anthem as I learned it as a child. Everyone has rights except the white straight person. We are not denying anyone the right to live their life. I just do not want it rubbed in my face every time I turn around, turn on a media source or walk through the city. I hear the next suggestion is to remove God from the anthem. Again, whose rights have been infringed upon?

  • Lanis Davey - 6 years ago

I will continue to sing the Anthem the way it has been sung since 1914! (In all thy sons command) period!!!

  • Donna Moore - 6 years ago

Where is Trudeau coming from. Get rid of him .Things were ok the way they were.. he is getting as bad as Trump. Why do you take polls and when the majority are against something and you still pass what they want. Just get RID of him .

  • Sandie - 6 years ago

I am soooooo disappointed in our federal government's ability to stand up for our national and giving into these people that can't figure out were to even go to the washroom.

  • Patrick Roden - 6 years ago

I am proud of our Canadian heritage.
Please leave our heritage alone, never
    change it.

  • Stacy - 6 years ago

I as a woman have never felt excluded. I will continue to sing our anthem as it is. I'm not changing. I'm getting so sick of everyone offended about everything

  • Rick - 6 years ago

When will this ever end. The Majority have become the Minority. Everytime you listen to the news there is something else being pushed down our throats as we now live in this Politically Correct Society. I am concerned and disgusted with the direction our Country is heading. Having to be Everything to Everyone.

  • Red Fox - 6 years ago

I understand what they're looking to do, but at the same time what about the rest of us Canadians. Some other guys dying wish is shoved down our throats, I'm fairly certain I won't be able to command that kind of control over a country upon my death. It wasn't something that hurt people's feelings or reminded them of who they aren't. Who stood guard over Canada......Men did. So to honor their courage and bravery we now pretend that we all stood guard over this country. In my opinion it is disrespectful to the MEN who fought for our rights and freedoms. Then again.....this wasn't our country to begin with and we shoved our crap down the natives throats.....i guess in the end we deserve it. Karma is delighting im sure

  • Ryan - 6 years ago

"Sons" is meant to be used in the same way as "Men" when referring to human beings. Today's world makes me very sad.

  • Nancy - 6 years ago

The phrase “in all thy sons command” was not meant to exclude anyone. I never sang the anthem feeling it was excluding me as a female. It is part of our heritage. And the new words don’t even make sense! What a waste of time, effort, and, of course, money, as they have to reprint everything that has the national anthem on it!

  • Terry Lucas - 6 years ago

God, hasn't mentioned that all people on Earth are his sons I am emphasize on the word all, which means women ,children and race are his sons. Need I say anymore so just leave it as is we all are the sons of God

  • Frank - 6 years ago

How can changing the anthem possibly make Canada a better place? Waste of time.

  • Deb - 6 years ago

I am a very proud Canadian and understand about equality. I worry that if we start changing the anthem then where does it stop. Not just with male/female. This is our heritage and I'm proud of it. I do not agree with the change.

  • D - 6 years ago

I believe we could better spend our tax dollars and time working more important issues.

  • John - 6 years ago

I'm honestly disgusted by these "independant" senators who aren't even representing the people's will, but instead what they're doing is passing a bill out of their own will. This is a decision that should be left to the citizens of Canada, because these senators aren't even representing us too well. This is disgusting how these senators get so triggered over one word in the anthem. This is not only an unnecessary and pointless change, but it shows how liberal this country has gotten. I am completely blown away by this bill.

  • Irene Cornwell - 6 years ago

I certainly hope Canadians can rise about the petty emotions displayed by some citizens of our the southern neighbor. Canadian values are so much more than those two words. In fact, the original anthem used the word "us" and was gender neutral. Canada is bigger and brighter than this behavior. Don't allow and divide and conquer mentality to flourish.

  • clarence - 6 years ago

Is there no end to the movement to make a heterosexual human being extinct? Pretty soon the words male and female will be outlawed. How much taxpayer money will we waste on this petty exercise to please a few people

  • Barbara - 6 years ago

As a woman living and working in the 21st century, I say “Of course! it should be gender neutral! Why did we wait so long?”

  • Dean Jones - 6 years ago

Looking at all the polls on this issue shows how COMPLETELY out of touch the Liberals are with mainstream Canadians. They don’t reflect us and our values at all.

  • Dave Wright - 6 years ago

If its not Broken don't change it lol

  • Kathleen Lafleur - 6 years ago

I am sooooooo disheartened by this federal governments' ability to blink and alter a nation! I am 61 years young and have lived through the first Trudeau's decision to alter the national anthem....the nation now gives Quebec the highest dollar amount of 'monetary sharing'!
I fear what will be available for the heterosexual Christian population in the years to come. I am weakened that those demanding change, and achieving it, are just one portion of our nation. The 'squeaky wheel' really does 'get the grease', I am saddened.
