Gee whiz!! Why do we even need laws?? Anyone with any intelligence would want to have WORKING fire/smoke alarms and CO2 detectors in their home to prevent unnecessary deaths. An electric plug-in CO2 monitor cost only about $20-25, less than a bottle of liquor. Priorities!!!!!
I did forget to mention, how many people have died due to smoke detectors NOT WORKING? Getting a legislation passed is fine and dandy on my tax dollars, but what about those who fail to make sure the arms are in working order?... ahhhhh the landlord or the builder!
Multifamily is not and shouldn't be different than family homes. Its required since 2010 for multi but not regular homes. CO2 detectors have been on the shelf for many many years, so those individuals that place blame on someone else....well, have nothing to say about that. Social media has informed individuals to purchase CO2 detectors over and over. I am a renter, landlord and home owner so with that being said as a renter, it's my reponsibility, as a home owner, it's my responsibility to ensure my family is safe, as a landlord, it's the tenants reponsibility to ensure their family is safe. I have provided co2 detectors in rentals but they go missing when tenants move out, as so the fire extinguishers and rope to escape should need be. So.....new homes should be in same category as multi, not sure why there is a differance here but ALL homes no matter who is building them perhaps should have co2 along with the smoke alarms seeing how people will continue to be lazy and place blame on others.
I have been a home owner and renter, I thought it was already the law or at least at minimum a bylaw. I have had CO detractors in my home since 2005. They’re inexpensive to purchase but I also thought our city has an annual fire protection program that provides people with smoke and CO detectors?
