I think Mayor Megan Barry is doing a fine job. There's been a lot of hullabaloo by people, whose motives I find questionable, bothering themselves over something that is really a personal, family matter. I have read a lot of distasteful remarks on this site. I hope that type of negative energy does not turn the audit into a witch hunt. Because of the good work by past mayors and the continuing good work by Mayor Barry, Nashville is, right now, at the threshold of becoming the 'it' city. Growth, the kind that Nashville is experiencing, has to be done right and Mayor Barry is driving it in the right direction. For those who are determined to sling mud, please get off the main stage to do it. All you are accomplishing is making Nashville look bad. Mayor Barry presents our city very well to the world, despite her personal matters. Put down the mud and quit being a distracting side-show, there is so much more good work to do. Let's stand behind our Mayor and keep making Nashville a beautiful, vibrant and growing city.

The Mayor did not resign as an honorable act; she was caught by her husband and her lover's spouse. She was forced by them to admit her behaviors, or be outed. Second- her behaviors are not comparable to anything Trump has purportedly done- he has not had an affair while in office and has not used taxpayer money to fund an affair. She has- there is absolutely NO WAY to explain away the fact that she stayed in Greece 2 days after her "conference" had ended, with her lover, paid for by Nashville. And the same thing was orchestrated on other trips with just the two of them. She clearly has issues with arrogance, and the ability to lecture students at Belmont on the topic of ethics while carrying on a long-term affair verges on sociopathy. Her flat affect regarding her transgressions and push to move beyond as though the city should simply ignore it is further evidence of emotional/sociopathic issues. It is readily apparent she is unable to understand the magnitude of her behaviors (again, sociopathy). The mayor needs help- her issues run deep. This has nothing to do with her gender- if anything she is getting a pass because of it. This has nothing to do with the love of God, nor religion and forgiveness. Yes, He forgives and we forgive, but her behavior demands justice. She pledged an oath to the people of Nashville, and she has acted criminally against them, betraying and abusing the city.

What would have been an approximate five-year period isn going to turn into 10 or more years of municipal heartache.

They got busted, and prior to going public and "being brave" (trying to maintain some sort of control over how the story was told after she got caught apparently = bravery these days!?!?) they made sure Mr. Forrest had the opportunity to retire to retain his pention and benefits, which should be handsome considering it's based on your best 5 years income wise! She stood up and was honest and forthright which does not happen often with men and this is what she gets.
