I've done dine and dashes as a teenager, once I made it to college, I stopped. One time during prom weekend. About 3 friends of mine and I decided we were keeping our money and getting some extra weed. So, I told my friends at the table, I'm going to leave first and start the car. I will leave my sweater at the table to make it seem like I was coming back. I told one of my buddies to grab the sweater as they left. Keep in mind this was one of my new fits, for the weekend of festivities. I leave as planned and pulled the car around front. Everybody comes running to the car, we drive off and I hop on the freeway, on our way to the weed man. Every body is laughing it up and partying. Then I ask my friend where is my Fat Albert FUBU sweater? Everybody is sitting there looking stupid. I yelled at my friends so tough. Since I paid too much for a sweater, that was only going to be in style for a couple of months. I turned my car around and went back to the Denny's, against my friends wishes, but I was gonna get my sweater back one way or another. I walk into the Denny's and a waitress says "You lookin for this" raising up my sweater in her hand. We made a deal and I paid for my food and got my FUBU sweater back. This was one of the last dine and dashes that I did, but I got several more stories about dine and dashes. Oh yeah, we still got the weed with the rest of the money that wasn't used on Denny's.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I voted yes. Back in college I was with colleagues for a summer work program in Boston. While we were eating, a giant roach crawled on the wall next to us. Everyone at the table started panicking, so I went and got the manager. He told me that that just means someone left the back door open and that was nothing he could do. So I told everyone that we were each leaving $5 on the table and getting the hell out of here. The manager came to us as we were leaving and told him to ask the roaches for rest of the bill.
Having worked minimum wage jobs in my youth I have a real understanding of how close to the edge people are who work such jobs. And servers make less than minimum wage plus tips. I could never take advantage of them like that.
