We are in dangerous times internationally and this investigation is harming our ability to exercise diplomacy. Mr. Mueller may be a decent man but in 18 months he has slogged along without a rudder. These investigations are always disruptive. But in times of historical turmoil they pose a real and existential threat to the nation. The lack of transparency in the investigation would appear to be completely unnecessary and further erodes faith in the process. This is coupled with worrying information about far too many of the critical players with McCabe now joining Strzok and others.
There are signature moments throughout history where a nation doesn't get a second chance. This haphazard investigation is further dividing the nation at a very dangerous point.
The nation can survive the firing of a special prosecutor if the evidence he has collected is turned over to Congress. We may not fare quite so well if the president is backed in to a corner and cannot effectively negotiate with Russia or other nations. Where we may work together for peace the president will be accused of bowing to Putin. Where we may need strength he will be accused of wagging the dog.

Rather than fire him, I think "times up" is a better strategy. Have Mueller show his cards to Congress now. If he has nothing related to Russian collusion, probe should end. It is wasting tax dollars and is damaging to America.
