Do you think women in prison should have free access to tampons?

I said they should get tampons for free. But as I think about it we should be pushing for our young ladies in schools getting them first. It would be nice if some way health insurance would cover it just like it cover birth control and plan B. I know it’s a little far fetched.

If pads are free why not allow them to receive pads instead of tampons. Tampons are a health hazard. Provide the pads as a free basic need not the luxury of free tampons or they should pay for tampons

I don't get them for free, why should they?? Because they broke the law, they should get free tampons and pads?? Why?? Make them work for them... they should have to work for everything they have on the inside just like we do on the outside.

I agree with Cathy G. The tampons wouldn't be for "free"; we pay extra for laundry detergents, clothing, water, body soaps, mattress cleaning or replacements of any of the above, and more
in association to women's hygiene, without tampons. Give them the tampons for those who need them. They are not dogs. Treat them with humanity. Yes, the choice of prison was unfortunately on their own ( if even called for), but they are still humans, and in such, humanity for males too. It's a hard pill to swallow, coming so close to feel hatred for their unacceptable actions...we just HAVE to be bigger than that. Just how many times are they allowed to change their soiled underwear, pants, sheets, towels, etc? How many times a day are they even allowed to wash themselves and their clothes if need be? Whether by machine or hand wash? What are their limitations? It may seem as though tampons are a luxury, but so are pads...pampers or cloth diapers? Which is the luxury? Perhaps no pads and no tampons and let them use cloth? How's that for spending?

Felamle prisioners can earn money by doing the laundry to by extra pads and tampons. Let Family and friends put money on their commissary account instead of the tax payers giving it to them.

Seriously? Six pads free and pay for tampons? How about the cost to do the laundry for the pants that they are given to wear to be cleaned? The mattresses to be cleaned? I get that jail is jail...but can we not think about dignity and ultimately transitioning to a re-entry program?? Maybe I’ll take up a collection in the community to support basic dignity and self care for all females incarcerated!!!

Absolutely, it’s a basic health and hygiene issue. I am surprised that they aren’t.

Why are our tax dollars going to jails to give them free sanitary products when the people who actually work and earn that money have to buy their own? If every woman got the for free than it would be one thing but my money is being used to give them free products when I pay for mine.
