Ratings are dropping, & they are discussing taking away the kickoff? Smh If it wasn't for the kickoff the Giants wouldn't of scored a TD at all against Baltimore in the Superbowl. Yes it's a violent sport, news flash people like violence just saying. Don't keep asking why ratings are going down, if they keep taking stuff away from the game.

I agree with Dan. Eliminating the kickoff would prevent a lot of injuries. However it would eliminate kickers and other specialty players. Players association would not vote for it.

The NFL is just trying to look after their bottom line. As they get more popular/rich they will push more safety. When will they put headgear and gloves on UFC fighters?

If they keep taking away the essential elements of football, which is by nature a violent sport, I will quit watching eventually. Why do you think these players are paid a bazillion dollars? My team the Packers won a Super Bowl because of kickoff returns. How many great games were won or lost because of the kickoff? Kickoff fumbles...ect?

How do you fair catch the ball when the kicker drives the ball down the field on the ground? Every kick will be a squib....
