Hi Kim, what is the actual cost of this project or? I have seen an e-mail that says it is over $10,000 and it is not completely covered as you say in your earlier quote. As a taxpayer I would like to know what the proposed cost of this project is.

Why invent the wheel? The old logo is unique and represents history which means a lot to many of us who used to see Russ Greenwood with his buffalo driving down main street. Why trade that in for a generic boring logo and waste time and money on that. New is not always better!
I like our present logo. I think changing it is a huge waste of taxpayer's money. Surely our counsellors have more important issues to address. Is this change, just for the sake of change?
I have to agree with some,fix the old logo,don't spend my tax dollars on this, fix the river banks
My thought of a logo is something that would cause people to remember a specific place when they look at the logo. Aside from the name "SUNDRE" below any of these nothing there would cause me to relate any of these to the community at all. They are all basically the same with a change in the lines or color. If I saw this anywhere after I visited Sundre I would not remember any of them or the community. I know you have a very difficult task but think you need to go back to the drawing board on this one. GOOD LUCK!!
Out of those presented, I pick #3. However, I think that there are other choices that would reflect our reality better. Add something to reflect the river and it's recreational potentials such as a fish or a fisherman, a representative of local wildlife such as a moose or an elk. These are just a couple of possible examples.
There is nothing wrong with our existing logo other than the fact that not a lot of people understand what Greenwood Country represents anymore as Russ has been dead many years and we have not done a good job educating new residents or visitors as to the significance of his historical legacy.

As a new resident of Sundre I very much prefer the original logo. If you are talking about the natural atmosphere of Sundre and standing out not being like every other little town logo, that's what our current logo is portraying. To change it is ridiculous and a waste of money.
I would have to vote for option #4 none of the above
What we have now is a unique, one of a kind, distinctive symbol that attracts your attention, captures ones imagination as well as being quite literal,another words its structure includes all the elements that tell a story.The three options don't come any where close to identifying Sundre better than what we have now.It is a well recognized and remembered motif. So lets leave well enough alone,and be satisfied with what we have.
If a new logo is required, cannot the general populace of the town decide ? Or does a " select" few get to make that choice.
Why are we exploring a new logo? All of them are generic. #1 is a box, #2 has color and movement, #3 is a simple attempt to represent our local features. Our present logo graphicaly demonstrates that Sundre has unique characteristics. If the logo must change, where is the stylized version of our present logo? It is silly that we have spent about 40 years waving that image around and now we should begin building our brand all over again. Not worth it to satisfy a consultant who says we NEED a new logo, lets look at modifying the one we have or just leave it and we'll stand out from the crowd of color swatches. Several people have voted for the old logo even though it is not one of the choices, that says something.
I like the third one best, but I dont think any of them really capture the essence! The first two are too institutional and at least the third one has the tree, though I do agree that it has a cartoonish dated look.

I think that the logos are not yet what the Town envisioned for Sundre and I am a bit disappointed. #2 is modern but says nothing about Sundre. #3 is unique but is more suited to a small business and is not professional enough in design for the Town as it is presented. #1 is a very familiar logo, it is too angular and needs to be less boxy but it does depict Sundre. Though I do not feel that any of these logos represent the Town yet, I voted for #1. Why are the mountains blue in all the pictures? I don't get it!
I like #3 the best out of all these, but the current logo for the town of sundre is way better than all of these. I think the old logo best describes the grass roots of sundre and is just a much better representation of the spirit of the town.
I like #3. It is different.
If I had to choose one of these it would be #1, BUT, I like what we have now far better. It really is distinctive and well recognized. I also resent the spending of my tax dollars in this economy to change highway signs, stationary and everything else involved.
I like #1 . The colors represent the basic elements of the geography here. The wave shape doesn't feel right to me. It should be reversed. When our eye scans information it moves down and to the right. We are more comfortable with that direction of line. With the architectual styles of the businesses on main street, the simplicity of the shapes seem appropriate. Yes , I like #1 the most, but I would make that small change if I could.

I like #3 ,but it looks like clip art .Could it be made more life like with wildlife in it.
#3 conveys more of a visual communication of Sundre which most people use to identify likes and dislikes.
I like #3 because of the tree...I don't know why, but I feel like we have to have a tree! Also, I am drawn more towards the simple mountain outline. I can appreciate the abstract design the other 2 are going for, but I like to think of Sundre as a 'in your face', 'love it or leave it' kind of a place. However, I agree that more could be done to make it look more professional. The river does look like it is a ribbon coming off the tree - could that be changed? I guess I'm just sad that the old logo is going. (sniffle) Change is hard, but I'm sure whatever design is decided upon I will learn to love it. Good luck and thanks for caring about our opinion!
I like #2, as it is stylistic, easy to reproduce and has a modern-look to it. #3 is similar to another logo for an "unamed" municipality
This is a tough job to take on! It is difficult to distinguish a little Town in the Foothills from other little Towns or the County of Mountain View.
The logos presented are not inspired by the Town of Sundre.
I do not think that the Red Deer River is depicted well in any of the options.. it has been added like an afterthought.
# 1 is okay but it is too static. Also the colours and the theme are too similar to other local logos.
Layering the blue, green, yellow is familiar to everyone.. everyone knows what it means i.e. Mountains, trees and prairie. It is kind of like using a box and a triangle to depict a house.
The Font in #1 needs work. It also does not translate well to the all black version ( which I assume will be used for forms etc.) too blobby.
What if the view that is depicted in #1 was presented in perspective.. as seen from high places around Sundre. A trail over a river going West...
#2 does look like a sporting goods or sports plex thingy.
#3 does look like clip art.
Perhaps thinking about Sundre as the "Little Town With a Big Back Yard" might help with inspiration.

I like concept 3 with Sundre in red and the green tree.
I'm in the minority. I liked number one. I agree that it does look familiar. Maybe that's what I like about it. I think it fits into the whole Alberta emblem/theme with the mountains. I don't think there is a day that goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars that I grew up and live where I can see the mountains every day. I like the river going through the middle of it. #2 looks like a blob that doesn't signify anything. #3 looks like something I'd draw ie. here's a mountain, here's a tree. This is a very inclusive way to get feed back. I appreciated being asked.
Sorry, Kim, but I'm not sure I like any of them. I'll grant the designer has a hard road to plow -- how do we distinguish ourselves when so many little towns on the Eastern Slopes all the way down to Mexico have a similar view -- but I think the design needs to be rethought. Ask the designer to walk up the scar on Snake Hill at about 5 in the afternoon and look around for more inspiration.
Concept #3 is T-shirty and looks like clip art.
Concept #2 doesn't seem to communicate anything distinctive. (Is this for a leisure centre? A pharmaceutical? A running shoe?)
I think concept #1 is closer (the stand-alone image is not bad, but could use a wider color palette), but the sans-serif font is much too rectilinear, reminiscent of the screen titles from "The Six Million Dollar Man". (Google that one, youngster.)
And don't be afraid to use more color. The designer seems to be worried about printing costs, but that's not what's important at this stage.
#3 I like. Better if the blue line at bottom of scene was wavey to represent the river.
I like three the best. It is simple and a good depiction of mountains and trees. The others are somewhat more typical and I think this would set Sundre apart.
I like number 3 best, but i would like to see the Red Deer River added if possible.
I prefer #3 the best. It looks a little "cartoony" but represents our town with the mountains and tree look that you have going. It also has more flow that the other ones that look more square.
The other ones look a little more like a aquaplex logo to me!
Just my thoughts.
I prefer concept 3.
Logo One is my preferred but looks similar in concept to many that I have seen - ie County of Mt View, County of Clearwater - basically follows a theme that is popular today. Not sure about "blue" for the mountains- too close to a "water" concept. Second logo choice is interesting, but fails to convey the "river" component of Sundre although does a better suggestion of Sundre's location in the "foothills". Again not sure about "blue" for mountains. The third logo looks less professional - has potenial but think that text and tree need re-working.
I personally choose #3, it captures the artistic and more natural atmosphere of sundre. Number 1 and 2 remind me far to much of MVC and OLDS logos(NO!!!!!)
