Should Yandere Simulator be an open-world game?

Do open world like that game

  • Angelica - 9 years ago

This is what I think would be best for Yandere-Simulator, while keeping in mind the original intention of the game, having Yandere-Chan get rid of people who love Senpai. School Atmosphere makes the game more intense and fun. What I think Yandere-Dev should add in the future is a feature called Real Life Consequence. If you kill a certain number of students, the school shuts down due to it no longer being a safe place to go to. This forces Yandere-chan to spy on her rivals AT THEIR HOUSE, making her even more of a monster, that no one is safe. This option is only available at night, and if she catches a girl mentioning that they like Senpai, the option to kill them is then available. You sneak into their house and kill them so they can never return to school. That way we get a new environment, but the essence of Yandere-Simulator is the same. KILL ALL WHO LOVE SENPAI. I'd be more than willing to volunteer and help Yandere-Dev

Well another idea if you want is: I see in the game you have gymnastic outfit so make gymnastic lesson and a pool would be nice if you can

  • Just a suggestion... - 9 years ago

I think you should just comprimise, but put quests for the situations at school. Like how the purple haired girl has a relationship in susuta town, you could interact with that said partner. Or how she is being abused by her father, you could form a relationship with her and then go to her house to gather information... Only if she is the actual rival though.... On and you should be able to go to senpai's house and find out who he hangs out with....

I think not every open world need such as this kind of huge town.
but you can assassinate your enemy after class is such a good idea.
because the must dangers time for a student is not in school ,or at home,is between home and school !hahahaha(Yandare chan's voice )

may a shopping street like "persona 4" is a good option , put some fashion store ,game center, bar ,KTV , cafe shop , family restaurant ,or a hotel to make the cocona chan's 援交 become real and you can take evidences by tail after her.All in one street like the country of japan is find.

many terrible tales always from japan's country school you know.

and final ,no matter what kind of choice, hope you choose a way within your ability ,We support you ,but we don't have to ask you too much !

    both have fun ,bro!best wishes!

  • Just my opinion - 9 years ago

I think the game should be open-world and theres a reason for that. Do you remember Enjo-kosai? Your rival is doing it in a town. So, you can actually GO to that town, take a picture of her with the man or even in bed, and share it on the school website in the game.
And of course, there are more potential in this. You may invite students to dinner or a bar, and poison their drink when they're distracted or went to the bathroom. If your friend is not close enough with you or you might have invited a large group of people to this dinner and some of which the victim doesn't trust, she will not drink the poisoned beverage because this is actually something that a teacher or her parents will encourage her to do because you never know who you could truly trust.
Another idea, you can visit a student or maybe even a teacher at their home and to make it not suspicious is to make them sick, either to wait or because of food poisoning because as I said earlier, you can poison their drinks. But there is a downside to poisoning them, which is other students may also visit the victim, so you will have a harder time killing the victim. And after you killed the victim, he/she can be suspected to died from food poisoning or he/she fell down the stairs and hit his/her head and bled to death because he/she is sick and weak. Taking out teachers will make the school hire new teachers which may not know where certain places are, the school gossip, what happened in the school before he/she came or more, which gives you an opportunity to lie to that teacher in order to frame a student or just trick the teacher into going somewhere so you can frame the teacher for a recent murder.
To make the game even harder, you can also add parents to this game and make it harder to just come home with this girl you just kidnapped and the victim's parents will get worried. Because of this, the amount of students in the school will decrease because their parents have transferred them into another school.
Talking about that, you can also feature another school other than the school Yandere is in. Maybe senpai will transfer there, which makes your relationship harder to keep up? Maybe Info-Chan knew that someone would transfer here and she looks really attractive and you just want to kill her before she reaches the school so that you wont be suspected as much because she went to another school that day.
See, even if you are not working on mechanics to kill students in school, you are working on killing students and teachers OUTSIDE the school, doesn't this make Yandere Sim a better game? You may need an army and a millionaire sponsor to make this, but when the game is released, it will all pay off because people will like a good game other than a game that came out recently. And I do believe that there will be more and more volunteers and donations when people start to realize that this game is on the right track.

I believe in you. That you can make Yandere Simulator a nice game. That you can make the players have an enjoyable time.

  • Yandere FTW - 9 years ago

I think its a great idea for Yandere Sim to become an open-world game. It already has the potential as it is somewhat of a "lifestyle" based game, and the addition of a after school hours with several more ways to interact with the world to create as many unique outcomes as you can afford to implement into the game. Also, since there would be more areas to explore ( provided enough people vote ), it may add an additional layer of immersion to implement options like skip school so that yandere-chan can set-up situations for any new 'out-of-school' NPCs or for the students and senpai when they exit the school. Thus creating consequences such as a bad reputation or things like the students such as senpai beginning to notice yandere chan's absence, may bring about the possibility of a friendship system? maybe? XD Ditching school may also give a possibility of stalking senpai, and sneaking into his home when he's at school? Just thought that it'd be cool but probably too much work. Maybe the guy on who gives yonder chan info may also have new functions? like a certain quota of underwear shots so that he'll still co-operate? kinda gives more purpose to taking shots of undies. OH one last suggestion, if a open world system is used, there may be so much to explore that the time limit of a week is too little. Ps if the time limit system was already planned for extension/ abolishment then sorry for stating the obvious. So sorry about this ridiculously long comment, just felt like this was a good opportunity to voice some ideas I've had. Thank you regardless of your decisions for Yandere Sim, just do what you can and want with it, I'm sure we'll all enjoy it either way! Great job and best of luck to the rest of the production. Time isn't an issue :) Take as long as you need... just not too long! XD

  • Cooper - 9 years ago

I don't mind waiting longer for the game to come out I love Yandere Sim so much with all i's features, and would love to explore a greater world, so I say go for it

  • Lily - 9 years ago

As much as I love the idea of an open world, I think it's better to just add environments. You can visit specific places like Senpai's house. I don't mind if you make it open world in the end, I'm just throwing my two cents. :>

  • Bakameo - 9 years ago

The open world design can be on Yandere Simulator 2, where you have enough budget to equip more resources in terms of manpower, budget, funding, etc.

  • soku - 9 years ago

Keep it simple, make a world to Shenmue, which is already quite open.

  • balabababa - 9 years ago

I think it should be uncensored and more action, maybe can add some sexual

  • Sensei Morris - 9 years ago

The idea of making yandere sim into an open world game would be good, it would have much more potential with maybe more characters, more ways to murder people and just more gameplay. You can't rush a great game. And I know that yandere sim will be just that. A great game! Just don't overdo it Dev, do as much as you feel comfortable with. :D

  • Jack - 9 years ago

Personally I think adding more environment would be a good idea. However I do not see the necessity of making the game open world. Adding an option menu when you exit the school to allow you to go to different places should be enough. No need to add too many places either, just a couple would be enough, such as a restaurant where girls hang out, a place where you can do part-time job, or to spy around senpai's house.

  • Yolo nickname Paine ect ect idk just ideas and why - 9 years ago

I think it's good to have a open world it adds more creative to the sneak and survival as in hiding and making minions to help and more challenges on how to get weapon and other things. Delays are fine in my opionon as the game is not yet know to the world like fallout saga or when elder scrolls skyrim came out.(also forgot to mention I'm a starting student in graphics and such and want to become indie as well ) Anywas the reason I say delay is good cause of how fallout 4 took a long time after fallout 3 which was about 7 years so alls a good in that department considering people be waiting for 7 years. I imagine this game is goining to be a boss like fnaf but maybe it be more Japanese lovers sinces it's a anime styled game. Now back to the free world idea like assassin creed in the games it had sneak and ect. They had lots of other stuff(mini games, shanty heck even a pirate theme on black flag but was still good.)In a big world and keeping a same idea in this they fixed the main character Edward with identifying assassin cloths which may not seem to be a big deal but that's helps. What I'm talking, and how? Is that the free world adds realism which is a big thing in games now, Edawrd adds his characterics(pirate and being real about it well being a assassin) Making him interesting in both parts since he is going into the world of assassin. Now here's your so far? I see yours as slice of life high school the character is a yandere and is murdeous. To help with free world you can default with shops like weapons and paintys and things that help with murdering. Hideouts where other torrtoures basement might be, and shrine of more obsessions of senpai. Sea or ocean to drop things in. Hide spot to hide away form students or detectives or stalking senpai. Also making poison sabotaging the police info and making atmosphere better by entering with community services. All this stuff sounds a lot form the original concept but I ask of you to look at the difference of popular games that had different ideas but change a lot and still keep the same idea elder scrolls being the very most change but same idea games sinces there are an old series that started in the 1995? Or somewhere around there.

The main thing you need to find out with this free world is the best of the best keep the small bits strengths those out in the world well keeping a big world. This might be hard but pulled off would make a great game if not another fnaf or bully popular. Ps bully the game will also help if haven't play it as well as having a good story to the game witch if you didn't notice help all the other free world games I mention

Lol the best part is you already have a great plot and story , ps these where just ideas and things that might help you if you pick the free world choice pss maybe add different endings, just a thought that has nothing to do with free world idea.

Pss can't stop you one of my role models like senpai notices or not? And also I wished to be like you one of this days at game making.

Thank you for making this game, hearing me out and being a great role model!!!

Form a starting student of game design graphics and animation.

  • Madison (Yandere Dev's #1 Fan) - 9 years ago

I really think that It depends on what functions you'd have in open world. Like killing, or stealing, or causing chaos, or gaining good reputation. An open world would be fun, but not worth it unless it was useful, or in anyway contributes to the main plot, of Yandere Simulator.

  • james - 9 years ago

That open world idea is a great idea
But if there are people in the town would you be able to kill them
And what happens after school when some students don't return home and the Parents get worried

  • Benjamin - 9 years ago

Open world would be awesome with money and weapon shops and police station so you can destroy the evidence!!

  • Employee Mangler - 9 years ago

Open world would be awesome, but at the same time could be daunting. Maybe just a few more accessible locations, like the path to Senpai's house, Yandere's house, and school. You could stalk him down the streets, or find hiding spots/locations from which to take more pictures of him. A police box (or whatever they're called there), a conbini, maybe a library and a few restaurants w/ a handful of NPC's would give off the air of a small town neighborhood w/o being too extensive.

Alternately, you could have a sort of stalking mini-game so that when school ends, you have to follow Senpai home w/o him noticing, which gives you elements of an open world w/o the whole shebang. I'd be totally cool w/ waiting a little longer, too. You've done an excellent job so far. :)

  • 33 QQHH - 9 years ago

Dont listen to sandbox/open world minecraft fags!, Yandere Sim was supposed to be a strategy/stealth game, and why take the example of Natsuiro High School?, that game is awful, this game should not be for kids, they dont know what they want!!!. Sooner or later they will drop the game, cause nothing satisfied them! Just stay with the school environment and make it shine, you will enjoy it more than a limited and mediocre open world.

  • Augusto - 9 years ago

HI, I say YES, but I think it should be cool in a sequel maybe, keep focusing on the stealth stuff.

  • Sherisse - 9 years ago

I would honestly Donate to an OPEN-World concept, I would be glad to help make something like this come to life and I would be happy to volunteer if I can.

  • Anon - 9 years ago

Open world? Nah, the initial idea was good. Strategy, deep personalities, cruel scenes, complex dialog.... Well, I guess the open world is gonna win anyways, and "gamer" quality is low nowadays... so GTA Yandere is coming.

  • Khayla - 9 years ago

I'd like it if it was a compromise. kinda Persona 4 Golden like. Add maybe a store for items like weaponry or accessory (like earrrings- adds +2 charm during social interactions) and whatnot so that Info-chan only provides things that make sense for a sleazy creep. Also would give that chance for Yandere-chan to have a small town rep outside school so that store owners or random people would maybe defend her if she was a suspect of a crime, argue on her behalf for suspension, and random panty shots from any skirt wearing female. It could literally just be a small town that revolves around the school- with very few adults and most things being student run, like off campus dorms or something. So that way it's more like an extension of the school without being too much like the 'real world'. I will donate money for that

  • Fairiegirl101 - 9 years ago

I think a compromise would be best. I'd love to see features such as being able to stalk girls or Sempai home or buying new panties or other items in a store, but I think making Yandere Simulator into a true open-world game distracts from the idea that you're a school girl serial killer. Making the game more closed creates the idea that this is the ONLY thing Yandere-chan has to live for and focuses the player on the task at hand- making sure no other girl steals Sempai from you.

  • Some guy who wants to make games - 9 years ago

I support the idea of a compromise, something similar to the style of persona four in which there are many other environments that are selected by an over-world map and unlocked through progression or specific actions. The thing with a purely open world is that not only do you have to create all the "inbetween" areas to bring together the areas which have the players heightened interest but also you would have to worry about every little detail working properly. For instance, many open world games are indeed immersive, however the small details matter more than the big picture for this type of game. Take for instance that for every five buildings, one is explore-able, that being your house, senpai's house, a convenience store, etc. Players would be disturbed by the inablility to walk into every house they see. Then lets say you give them the ability to explore every house, every house would have to feel unique, otherwise again the immersion would be taken away. In my opinion, you should put the game on a hill, with a tram going up and down outside the entrance, from there allow players to select where they would want to go; to yandere-chan's house, the grocery store, a theme park (to follow senpai), the beach, the shopping center, etc. As we can see from your vision and updates, quality matters first, and because of how you are essentially a one man team, being aware of those limitations is very important. An open world does not always bring the most enjoyment to players, especially if not every nook and cranny, alley and street is interact-able. Its like the difference between a b-list mmo and skyrim(just a mainstream example that i'm sure you'll get). In the mmo, they have you doing preset quests and dungeons, giving you the "illusion" of free will and exploration, but in fact its the same grind everyone else is doing. What gives the most pleasure to players in open worlds is the ability to play the game next to others playing with them and all look at each other and say "wow i did something entirely different in that area" and I think yandere simulator so far does a great job of keeping that personalized experience thus far.

  • Keith - 9 years ago

I would love to see open world. With an open world you could actually increase the scope of the social mechanics. Examples: Planting evidence in your rivals home and calling in a hot tip, or taking photos of your rival in her underwear, then sending to everyone at school in the hopes she goes and kills herself. Maybe even go huge, like starting a fire in one part of town in order to cause distraction and/or slow police response times. The possibilities are numerous.
Have you ever considered multiplayer ? Competing against a real world rival could be both fun and intense.

  • Daisy - 9 years ago

How about a "little bit" of open world in this?
for example, being able to follow senpai when he meets up with friends ( at a karaoke bar or something )
or maybe being able to steal trophies from his home ( like the tooth brush )
maybe you could add these things as little ''extra missions"?
I feel like creating a full open world version of this game is something for the far future, but i certainly wouldn't mind that.

  • Melissa - 9 years ago

how about instead of a whole town just have the road and building in front of the school accessible. Put a couple of businesses including Yandeere's home.

Yandere Simulator is a freaking awesome game even it's only 10% done right now.Actually,it is a good thought to create a town in order to enrich the whole game. But,as far as I'm concerned, this kind of design can also be a obstacle that handicap Mr.Yanderedev, his own plan.
I hope everyone here can be more rational -- cribbing the game idea from Yandere Simulator or just the game it self could be a very dangerous possibility,a risk that we have to consider if the project takes too much time.
Well,as we all know,Yandere Simulator has a huge potential and a numerous supporters and players who are willing to play the final game.If a company, for example,a very big game product company--Tencent has the comprehension of the potential of this game, they may have a large chance to copy any part of this master piece, which is none of us wanted to see.
Anyone who hope this game can be a much better game,as I'm a fan of Yanderedev,I highly recommend, show your love to this game and help Yanderedev finish his town if you have any assets that can contribute.
To create a town,to make the game much bigger could be a impossibly gigantic job without more professional volunteer's help.
Only vote for "Do a bigger game",as I mentioned before, when you have 100% sure that final work of this game can be waited,or you are capable of helping Yanderedev.

Dont need to be huuuuuge open world, make a town like bullworth from bully, you can learn many things from this game, like the classes where you learn things by doing mini games.
    GOOD LUCK!!!

  • Valkyrie - 9 years ago

I think you should aim high; an open world town version of Yandere Simulator would change a great game into an amazing game and allow so much more potential to the core mechanics as well as the little (but important) side mechanics and exploration.

Compromise make the school bigger and better for example throw bricks at students and drop bricks on students that's all from me

I chose compromise, because i realize that a open world is very strenuous to make, but we still need trips, because they're still in school, and schools do field trips and stuff. Therefore, not open world, but more environments please!

  • daniellekimchi - 9 years ago

i chose open world because this game has gotten so much attention in just a year when it's not even finished. i think the final product should be as great as the fans want it to be. imo the kickstarter will definitely get alot of funding for the game esp since HUGE YT gamers like pewdiepie and markplier have already been playing this game and have made several videos of it already. once the game is finished, i have no doubt that theyll be playing it again.

the kickstarter will get you enough money for your vision of this interestingly thought out game and an understanding person would be patient enough for the game to develop.

good luck! ill even contribute to the kickstarter once i hear about it.

Maybe Yandere sim doesn't have to have a small town but add more to the highschool like maybe a library or a pool or an autitorium with different features. You don't have to change the game just add to it. But if you do end up making a small town maybe there can be houses where some mpc's live or more important characters like Sempai and the orange haired girl. Thank you!! And I love your game!!!

  • Asang Sangma - 9 years ago

I think you can take the best of both worlds. While not entirely open world per se it can have multiple hub areas so to speak. That way things can be balanced out I feel.

  • Rinyu - 9 years ago

It's interesting, it will make the game variegated and beautiful. What will the game be like? Though the open-world is irrespective “murder”, I think you will contact with it.

  • Fluffy - 9 years ago

I think it should be a open-world game. Having other activities than going to school and killing people will make it more realistic. A open-world game can have more items and purchasing items with money. Not only could this be a good for popularity but $$. Aside from money a open-world map can have different transportation which yandere-chan can kill people outside of school (maybe)... :3

  • XiaoXue. - 9 years ago

i think there could be an area where no-one goes to (maybe a secret hideout or something) where the dead bodies are kept. yeah n you can go there anytime and checkout(?) the bodies. for me i like draging them //////

  • Shadow12000 - 9 years ago

One personal thing that I thought about for a while was that if you're going to get info on them, you definitely wouldn't get all you need just at the school. The art of yandere is stalking, and using that power to follow a rival around town to get dirt on her. Not to mention, seeing opportunities present themselves.

  • Zpoint - 9 years ago

I think it will be cool if Yandere Simulator become an "Open World", but you can miss Yandere Sim's Quality and spend more money and time. So, you'll be better to concentrating to improve a game's quality such as variety, catching bugs and so on Of course, it doesn't mean no-extra area like library, convenient store. They will increase a variety of Yandere chan's crime-method.

  • Kiffin - 9 years ago

How about, instead of making a open-world game, make some areas available, classic stuff, cliche places. You got the school already. Make a parc, a bridge, Amusement parc, Arcade, Wood, small beach or quarry, Shopping Mall, Train Station. You could board the train to go country side to like a resort/hotspring there. Maybe make a school event there sometime like you see in anime. Trying to get pictures or sempai in the bath O.O

Your game is already good even if its not finished, any new features you deem worthy will only make it better.

Also most gamers dont like invisible walls, so instead of placing invisible walls when you try to leave the area, instead of blocking, make Yandere-chan says something like: I cant leave yet, or open a UI box that asks where you want to go, or better, a small map with icons of the places available which you can click on like in Fate Hollow Visual Novel.

  • jacky penguin - 9 years ago

Actually, you can make an "open world" DLC. An expansion pack for those people who want open world.
You can release this game on schedule, and ask for extra money for next developing of "open world" DLC.

This, you know, is just my personal opinion.

P.S. My English is pretty limited, please don't mind. And hope my opinion can help you.

  • Jackie Mission - 9 years ago

Yes we can wait It's should be a world wide game where we can murder shop owners and spy on people in there house In my opinion MAKE IT WORLD WIDE

  • ImoutoBreaker - 9 years ago

The compromise is the best option. It would keep the game from getting stale, and allow more in depth gameplay of stalking and killing girls after school, or on weekends. But you absolutely shouldn't waste time on an area unless it serves a good purpose.

For example, a shopping mall would be a good environment, because you can add places to buy accessories, there can be places for students to hang out after school, there could even be a restaurant where students might go for dates. Another good/simple area to do might be something like a park. It'd be a nice quiet place for students to hangout, relax, or be stabbed to death and left in a bush.

  • NPC - 9 years ago

I think you can make a calendar like real calendar in our life, and you can also add some event on the calender, like gakuen sai, sport day or more.
If the event has been come then the school atmosphere will be change, and there will also organize some event in school.

  • R - 9 years ago

The game is therefore considered that freedom height requirements need to be considered OpenWorld

  • Mickey - 9 years ago

i think you should add more environment maybe making the world big enough so you can walk home/senpais home so you can stalk him xD to add fun. but the game should mostly be focused on killing your rivals and destroying your rivals rep

  • Andrew - 9 years ago

I think that either an open world or compromise works best. You should however, keep the main setting school and keep the main points about stealth and killing. It would also be great to be able to interact with everyone (yes even senpai) normally and if you lose your sanity (too much yandere) then they could get suspicious and think your weird. As for the people wanting romance with senpai I don't think that is really needed at all and it would take away from the main point of killing senpais friends . Just ri let you know, money and a store would be apreciated (to buy extra clothing and supplies)
But remember do not over work yourself . We can wait for as long as we need to (reasonably)

  • Jake - 9 years ago

Making an open world seems to take away from the main point of the game. It would be much harder to focus on the reputation, stealth, and social aspects of the game when a whole town is involved because then you have to worry about town reputation (what the townsfolk think of you), adding hundreds of npcs in town and assigning some specific purpose in the game like adding police and their pathing in the game. I feel like it takes away the focus about girls trying to get with your senpai and you trying to sabotage them. If your afraid the game will get boring, just make the school bigger and add cool secrets to it. Adding new places in the school could make having the game open world meaningless. For example a pool could be where you dump bodies to make it seem like a drowning. In an open world an ocean would be the equivalent but would be a lot more work because youd have to add the docks, boats, etc.

  • spaghetti - 9 years ago

An open world is too much. You just can't do it, at least for now.
The complexity and originality of the game would suffer, and that's what we liked in the first place.
Stick to the original plan, release the game, get famous, get sponsors!

  • xbb1024 - 9 years ago

You don't need to do everything in the first game, just do the core stuff and expand on what works in the sequel. But if there is enough demand here for a big game, then maybe consider going to a publisher.

  • C - 9 years ago

I definitely wouldn't buy the game if it was just the one small school environment because I know I'd get bored easily, so I'd definitely prefer an open world game because I feel like it would feel more professional so I'd be far more likely to get it then...

I really like the open-world concept!!
It will be way more fun to me
Maybe it can make the whole game more complicated, not just focus on only one or two things in the whole game

  • Shiro - 9 years ago

i think it would be a very good addition to the game but why not release the game while only the school is avaiable, then start working in the town, if ppl like the game at first they will be more likely to donate and volunteer i think, and then you can update the game with one "huge" update, dunno if thats possible tho xD

  • Lina - 9 years ago

Openworld is definitely a cool idea but don't stress yourself out. Safety first. It would make the game a lot more interesting and fun, and it would give a few additional methods in killing some girls such as sneaking into their house or planning out hangouts at a special place then ends up murdering them. I think that Yandere can talk to adults and possible help them run errands to gain reputation and to fool people. If you actually do follow my ideas, I think a week is too little time so extend it to two weeks if it's a good option to you. I don't know, I personally think they're cool ideas so if you can't do it, don't over stress yourself. Also I don't mind how long it's going to take for Yandere Simulator to be complete as long as the result is good. I hope you actually read my comment and hope you didn't take too much of the time reading it. Good luck!

I think that we should be left with a compromise. But my best friend and I talked about this and she thinks that it would be cool to have another small inviorment to go to. She also said something about at night time, sneaking into the girl's houses and killing them in their sleep. Personally I think you shouldn't outwork yourself, and that would be cruel of us to make you do that. The game is really great so far, keep up the good work!!

  • Lexie - 9 years ago

I think you should compromise. I do like open worlds, but that would take a tremendous amount of hours for you to work, and it wouldn't be good to overwork yourself. But it WOULD get boring if the game took place just at the school. I'd say that you should add some sort of map to the game that takes you to different locations.

  • Michal - 9 years ago

As much as I love open world games, you should pace yourself. You've already had delays just making a single school area. . Finish the game as planned, THEN make an open world sequel.

  • Slemmen447 - 9 years ago

I think the Open World sounds interesting. Even if I think so, you should focus more on the core mechanics of the game. You can still make it open world, but I think the main aspect of the game (Stalking, killing etc.) should remain intact. If you add a small town, you would have places to actually buy new weapons after you have disposed of the old ones. The Open world Idea is good, and I think it should be added, but I also think you should focus more on the core mechanics than the actual open world thing.

  • YOHOHO - 9 years ago

Open World is, I think that the production version after the completion of the school. Now that I use a translator because the foreign fans, please understand this article even longer.

  • Tsumiki - 9 years ago

I love the idea of an open world environment, but I think that keeping it in a smaller context is a lot more efficient. I think that the main action of the game should still continue taking place in school, so I'd prefer a smaller neighborhood where you can visit your schoolmate's home without any unnecessary places such as a cinema, cafe, hospital or something. One of the charms of Yandere simulator is the fact that you would need to use your 'skills' to commit a murder. So, if the game has too much environment where Yandere-chan can murder someone or prepare for a murder (a drugstore to buy drugs or bookstore to buy scissors) the game can get pretty boring,

  • Nikki - 9 years ago

I think that you should first focus on more social and sabotage features, like gossiping, maybe bullying (leading into suicide) and making two students fall in love, so to stop the girl from becoming your rival (or Senpai's girlfriend) because I think that that is what the game is all about.

But YES, as you said, I have a feeling that Yandere Simulator would become boring if you were confined to the school (no offense). So maybe you could add in a small beach? It would be the perfect place to confess your feelings to Senpai, a great place to dump bodies (muahahaha), you could socialise there and maybe buy things on the pier (like roses for Senpai for if you confess, maybe stationary, for bribing, to make Yandere-Chan look nice or to even make Senpai notice you (a teeny, tiny, little bit - if he fell in love with you at first sight, what point would there be to the game?).

Or you could maybe add in a park, with a "good old friend" to remove any evidence if it was a tricky murder, a rebellious student to give you the answers to your pop quizzes in exchange for panty shots, a secret spy to help you stalk your rival and their every movement or an assassin to kill off one of your enemies. But of course, a pond to drown one of the girls, or a tree to push someone out of. And like the beach, wouldn't it be romantic, confessing to Senpai while the sun sets, just Yandere-Chan with her one true love, and cherry blossom petals drift down onto the lake? Ah, love... sorry, I got a bit carried away there. But it would be SOOOOO cute! *I hope Senpai agrees*

But your judgement level is way beyond mine, not even the "8" debug in class will make me as smart as you ;P

    Yours and forever yanderely,
    Nikki

Jan dere simulation is like going to need an open world
If something is boring, but only if you walk around the small town high school who also wish I'd escaped the police report as I care system even if additional Jan dere and I hope, like the murder of the villagers even murder is possible only if you want to simulate and saw a woman character characters Decorate with heart wish I had been a man, or even the character and Jan dere is also a bit like a murder complaint but wish to simulate sensor Pai hoping ridiculous bet
When teaching in the classroom or children seated in accordance with the character for each sitting on the same story geodo place went to break the story or sit down on the desk just as I hope not stand up stand up and talk round gulge
I wish doeteumyeon game releases smoke, but surely ready to release!

I dont think a town is a very good idea. I would LOVE it but I think its already too many work for you. However,if the gae had a little park and a cliff it would be cool. We could stalk senpai to the park see if there are any rivals confessing. Or we could just push our rivals from the cliff to the sea. This way the school aura wont get affected. We could even dispose bodies and weapons with the cliff. But, as I said, dont overwork yourself please, the game is already going very good!

  • sfBluepan - 9 years ago

    Hello, yanderedev.
After I read this poll, I thought about it a lot.

Although an open-world game sound interesting, I don't think this is a good idea to make a 3d town map in this game.
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING!!!
This will make a big negative impact on the core of the game, especially its Original value of Gameplay:
"Yandere Simulator is a stealth game about stalking a boy and secretly eliminating any girl who seems interested in him, while maintaining the image of an innocent schoolgirl."

However, maybe it's okay to use visual novel selection system to show the very simple 2d map of town in game.
The system help player to get any useful tools or information.

This is a very great game, I like this game!
    Best regards!

I think the open world is great! We can do many things there. We can buy scissors or drivers in stationary. In the real world, there's no those things on the road, right? And we can buy some drinks or food in the supermarket. If we drink energy drink- Yandere Chan can run faster for few minutes. Umm... it will be very hard, I know... But I just want this! If we are in the same place everyday, it must be very bored. Oh, we can have some events! For example, we can pick up a wallet. We have two choice. To get the money, or bring it to the police station. Then her reputation will grow up!
    Please think of these things.
I can wait for you to make the open wolrd!

  • Euan Johnson - 9 years ago

In my opinion, Yandere simulator shouldn't be completely open world. However, I do believe that the game should have different stages/levels of the game, associated with different tasks you decide to do. For instance, in the current build, the game has a feature to kidnap people. However, once you tranquilize someone, Yandere-chan automatically takes the person to the basement for you. Instead, you should be given the option to take the kidnapped person through a level of your choice, avoiding the general public that may be walking around. If you are somehow spotted, you have to talk to the person and explain to them what has happened or what you are doing in order to calm them down and stop them from calling the authorities. You could also make friends in the game that could act as partners in crime, or just use them for information on rivals or Senpai. I'd really like a part in the writing for the story of the game, so I'd like to help you voluntarily :)

  • Setsu - 9 years ago

I don't think open-world is necessarily the way to go, but it would be interesting to add some different environments. Maybe there could be a café popular among the students where you can go to stalk/talk to/kill other students. Or a park with a similar function. And it might be interesting to have some more rooms in Yandere-chan's house, or perhaps there could be the option to break into Senpai's or your rival's house.

I also think that it might be interesting to have a texting and/or social media function. Texting could allow you to talk to other students and ask you to meet them somewhere without having to be in the same area; it could be a challenge to befriend an NPC to get their phone number. Social media could be used for social subterfuge and for stalking.

  • Rutkiskacsa - 9 years ago

The landscape I am interested in exploring in this game is psychological, not geographical. I am not looking for a slice of life sim. Yandere-Chan's world revolves around Senpai. The only locations that should be included in the game are places Yandere-Chan would come in contact with Senpai. The outside of his house is a possibility. MAYBE her rival's house. But not an open world. Her actions center around the school. That's where she is going to interact with Senpai and her rivals. Having an open world to hunt them in just reduces the challenge by trading difficulty and obstacles for time and distance. Focus on the various ways to defeat rivals in the current environment, not adding landscape.

  • Psyckosama - 9 years ago

I'd like to quickly say thank you for all your time and effort making this game and that IMHO you should stop worrying about how long it takes you. You'll be done when the game is done.

Along those lines I'd like to comment your statement from from your video that if you go open world, Jumping is critical. It is useful as part of mobility and stealth mechanics allowing you to quickly find cover and to take unconventional routes.

I'd also like to suggest that if you can find the time, play Bully: Scholarship Edition. The game is very much an open world school game and I believe you may be able to get some ideas.

  • Blanc - 9 years ago

Well, there are a lot of people who choose "Yes! open world game!" but please, reconsider just go and make the game with the original plan (i have some friends who a programmer) if you want to make it open world, i think it's too much, but if you could and willing to do it nobody could stop you :)
i think it's better idea to make some more environment/locations/places/venue and then transverse using loading screens than to make it open world.
My point is, you better start 'small' but great, polished, and better, than aiming for too much goal for the open world environment.

  • Foxy the Foxy - 9 years ago

YESS, YANDERE SIM SHOULD HAVE AN OPEN-WORLD ENVIRONMENT!!!

I voted "Yes" because I can't help but think that the Yandere Sim should be an open-world environment, mostly because of the students on the game, and the home-to-school option by walking, running, or riding something home!

It would make the game 10x more fun, and I don't care how long it takes ^^ !!!!

  • Yu - 9 years ago

I agree strongly with An. This is a STALKING simulator. Consindering the fact how obsessed with Senpai Yandere is the stalking shouldn't stop with the school grounds.
BUT considering the amount of additional work this open world would bring I would think of making it an expansion pack so that for now the focus lies on Yanderes methods. If the reception is good enough some additional sponsors might apper too and make it easier to get the help and money you need for the open world.

  • Rawk - 9 years ago

I agree with other comments, if it is open world, it must be worth it, providing more opportunities to stalk senpai and destroy rivals.

  • An - 9 years ago

Guys. this game is actually senpai-stalking simulator. That's the purpose of this game! All of Yandere-chan's behaviors (murder, study and etc.) are only for stalking senpai! And stalking senpai should not be stopped at school, it should get into senpai's whole life, even he is in his house or going shopping. Open world is a best and only way to realize real creepy stalking. It should be!

  • Nonixel - 9 years ago

I love how there's a big vision for this game, but for the sake of your sanity (heh), I recommend sticking to the original plan and maybe making a fancy sequel instead of adding on to this one. I'm not impatient about the game's release date, I'm just hoping it isn't too stressful for you and the team. >_

  • Agnes - 9 years ago

Maybe you could just add some small locations, you know, with a cafe, shops etc., without making it open world? I also like the idea with loading screens connecting them.
Whatever you decide, I doubt anyone would mind waiting a little bit longer for the full version. At least that's mine opinion, if that means the game would be more... polished?

  • David - 9 years ago

I know a lot of people are voting "Yes", but if you are reading this I want you to reconsider being that ambitious.

Stick to the original plan and make it the best complete game you can be proud of. THEN, move on into making a town if you want to.

I think adding all features and game play is more of a priority then adding more environment.

  • 신민철 - 9 years ago

    오픈월드로 만들면 원래의 목적에서 벗어나는것같습니다.

  • talis - 9 years ago

I think your game is really innovative, but I felt somewhat monotonous; just slaughtering students, dragging body to the incinerator for too long(of course it'd take a good much time for a teenage girl to drag a corpse in real world but I felt, on the side of a game player, it boring)..
I guess others have already suggested similar comments as mine.

  • thepureheartofdark - 9 years ago

I'm torn. On one hand having a open world can only add to the game. On the other hand, not only would development be stopped for a moment to include all that, the need for other resources increases or even multiplies, development time increases and likehood/amount of unforeseen problems increase as well.
I say stick to the current plan and if it becomes a success build from there, after all, all software can have more than one version. (Yandere-chan 2.0 'insert subtitle here')

  • Heather - 9 years ago

I think favors would be a cool add on. And you could also make other places. Example: You start the game in her room right? when you go to the door it gives you an option to either go to school or the basement. why not make more choices like the arcade where senpai likes to hang out with his friend, his fav place to eat, the street senpai lives on.
Another idea is you could have Yandere stalk Senpai when he's out with girls that like him but he doesn't know and he just thinks they are being friend. She could kill her or make her look like a fool, etc.

PS I'd also like to see this Info-chan.

  • SirxObsidian - 9 years ago

I think open world would be an amazing feature. I definitely have no qualms waiting an extra 6 months for it, or even an extra year. It has a lot of potential to add extra activities (such as actually requiring the player to return to school in order to retrieve a sedated rival to kidnap her and take her home, adding to the stealth dynamic).

  • Ginconomp - 9 years ago

Actually a open world game would be kind of awesome!
You could do more events, maybe some group exits where a girl goes too near to sempai and then kill her in the forest.
Or go in the rival's house and actaully kill her there!
maybe faking a suicide with a rope or pills or something else

I mean, with an open world game there would be more opportunity of killing!

  • y94 - 9 years ago

I think open world would be neat, but only if you could actually DO something with it. If it's just an environment to run around in, it's not really worth all the time and effort since it serves no purpose other than eyecandy, which the school could become instead. Maybe something more to do about Senpai or other students? Stalk them all the way out of school, or invite them on outings to gain trust, or find more out-of-the-way areas to kill them in and other ways to dispose of their bodies / frame it as someone else's work / a suicide. All of that sounds like a whole lot of work to program and find volunteers or money for. I'd put it on the same page as the bloody water thing. If playtesters want more levels of complexity (REQUIRING more interaction outside of school), maybe go for it. If they think the current level of complexity is enough or approaching too much, don't bother with it.
