Cheney is right. The troops in Iraq tell me they can only as a question and if they know the suspected terrorist is lying, all they can do is document their evidence. They can not do anything to get to the truth. Our President and his cronies need to understand you can't just say Please to these guys and expect them to tell all. Previous tactics have worked to keep the US safe.
This investigation flys in the face of every soldier and security person in our service. It is not just a broken promise, it is an insult to the American people.

1) We will end up holding KSM and other without trial for the rest of their lives, because evidence gained by torture is inadmissible in any trial. We're a republic of laws, and if your comfortable holding people for years without trial, your living in the wrong country.
2) If you love our soldiers so much, as most of you claim Obama doesn't, would you be comfortable with other countries torturing them, because we're essentially walking away from the Geneva conventions, do you mind them being waterboarded, threatened with pistols and drills, or having their family's threatened with rape?
3) If crimes were committed, people need to be held responsible, that's how this country works, and why we're not everyone else. We don't let dirty cops walk, we try them with more conviction than ordinary criminals, because their crimes are quite egregious. We must hold our soldiers and CIA operatives, and hired contractors responsible, if we don't we send a message to everyone, American's and others, that this is not a nation of laws.
4) Iraq was not involved in 9/11, there was no Al-Qaeda of Iraq until we invaded. Terrorists have been using Abu Gharib photos and other evidence of torture to recruit new terrorists, in stopping some, we're creating more. Not a very effective strategy, as recent reports indicate.
5) More soldiers have died in Iraq than in 9/11 and Osama is still free, but Cheney is making us safer?

Dick Cheney is absolutely correct and what Obama proposses with both the creation of his own intellangence agency and investagating the Bush's administration; not only undermines what Bush has managed to accomplished, it sets us and the world up for future terrorist attacks. I feel that Bushes greatest accomplishment is in getting our various intellegence agencies to work to gether and I believe that this also benefited the world as major terrorist attacks ceased.
What bothered the rest of the world about us is not our interference over affairs, but the fact that we would support them and in a few short years, pull that support allowing them to suffer the consequences. Ironically, this often coincides with changes of administrations or more accurately the political parties and philisophies.
The Oh intellegence agency will strictly be about control of the information and quite possibly be shared with the terrorists first as a prelude to any action taken towards affecting any terrorist goal and in the trying to attain peace first. Terrorism is a tyranny that not form or nation can allow to exist. Peace to them ammounts to nothing more then a delaying tactic that permits them to gain in strength, resources and brazzeness. Look at the progression from Carter, Clinton and eventually Obama/Clinton. I felt that Clinton bought the terrorists off, but Obama will be a patsy and perhaps instead of a change in administration, things will progress negatively on his watch.
I have seen similar at the local level in regards to crime, where prosecuters lie about sentences to store owners. They may say that the person has received a four year sentence, but a search of court records reveals that the person had 3 years, 9 months and 21 days suspended. At the same time, internal police investagors, investagations and charges are found out to be falsely applied against police officers for personal or dubious reasons. Then Baltimore wonders why it has the problems it has. Without due care in thought, this nation will be doing the same.

Cheney is absolutely correct in his assertions. First it is imperative to understand that the President is ultimately responsible for any actions taken by a member of his cabinet, and Holder is a member of that cabinet. Secondly, it is an abomination to neutralize the ability of the CIA to do it's job satisfactorily by going back to previous administration approvals of their actions with an investigation. We are talking the same department, the Justice Department, after changing administrations, exhuming dead, or previously reviewed issues. The CIA's clandestine activities are paramount to protecting the security of our nation, and those jobs are completed by human beings. If I were an agent of the CIA knowing that my performance is today acceptable, but maybe not acceptable after a new President is elected, I might think twice about accepting an assignment. If Holder is successful in pursuing this investigation, watch an exodus from the ranks of the CIA and a refusal on the part of the International Security community to cooperate with our security agencies. This will open the door to increased terrorist activity within the borders of this country as well as those interests outside our country where our citizens are working. It is impossible to understand why the President has washed his hands of what Holder does, allowing him to go off like a loose cannon. Repairing the damage to our country's security once the damage has been incurred will take a very long time, if at all. It is very important, even though they don't seem to listen, to contact your elected representatives in the House and the Senate and let them know how you feel about the castration of our security in this country.

The safety of this country is the primary responsibility of our President. He is the chief law enforcement officer. His Attorney General reports to him and is responsible to him for his decisions. Those who think restricting our country to asking nicely for information about future attacks are naive and lost in a little utopian world that never existed. These charges have already been investigated. This administration is so mixed up that they are trying to find a way to blame the former administration for everything as well as trying to change the subject which is most pressing to current Americans. Obama had no experience. He is not growing gracefully into this office. He is my president so I hope he gets off the campaign trail and assumes his real responsbilities. 1) We will end up holding KSM and other without trial for the rest of their lives, because evidence gained by torture is inadmissible in any trial. We're a republic of laws, and if your comfortable holding people for years without trial, your living in the wrong country.
2) If you love our soldiers so much, as most of you claim Obama doesn't, would you be comfortable with other countries torturing them, because we're essentially walking away from the Geneva conventions, do you mind them being waterboarded, threatened with pistols and drills, or having their family's threatened with rape?
3) If crimes were committed, people need to be held responsible, that's how this country works, and why we're not everyone else. We don't let dirty cops walk, we try them with more conviction than ordinary criminals, because their crimes are quite egregious. We must hold our soldiers and CIA operatives, and hired contractors responsible, if we don't we send a message to everyone, American's and others, that this is not a nation of laws.
4) Iraq was not involved in 9/11, there was no Al-Qaeda of Iraq until we invaded. Terrorists have been using Abu Gharib photos and other evidence of torture to recruit new terrorists, in stopping some, we're creating more. Not a very effective strategy, as recent reports indicate.
5) More soldiers have died in Iraq than in 9/11 and Osama is still free, but Cheney is making us safer?

Dick Cheney is absolutely correct and what Obama proposses with both the creation of his own intellangence agency and investagating the Bush's administration; not only undermines what Bush has managed to accomplished, it sets us and the world up for future terrorist attacks. I feel that Bushes greatest accomplishment is in getting our various intellegence agencies to work to gether and I believe that this also benefited the world as major terrorist attacks ceased.
What bothered the rest of the world about us is not our interference over affairs, but the fact that we would support them and in a few short years, pull that support allowing them to suffer the consequences. Ironically, this often coincides with changes of administrations or more accurately the political parties and philisophies.
The Oh intellegence agency will strictly be about control of the information and quite possibly be shared with the terrorists first as a prelude to any action taken towards affecting any terrorist goal and in the trying to attain peace first. Terrorism is a tyranny that not form or nation can allow to exist. Peace to them ammounts to nothing more then a delaying tactic that permits them to gain in strength, resources and brazzeness. Look at the progression from Carter, Clinton and eventually Obama/Clinton. I have seen similar at the local level in regards to crime, where prosecuters lie about sentences to store owners. They may say that the person has received a four year sentence, but a search of court records reveals that the person had 3 years, 9 months and 21 days suspended. At the same time, internal police investagors, investagations and charges are found out to be falsely applied against police officers for personal or dubious reasons. Then Baltimore wonders why it has the problems it has. Without due care in thought, this nation will be doing the same.

If the CIA is going to lose its ability to gather information, I would assert that the war on terror is over. For their safety, we need to remove our troops from Iraq and Afganistan. If you believe the US has a right to torture, then we as Americans cannot say a thing when our military men and women are tortured. We would have no moral ground to stand on. Even McCain says torture is wrong, why because he has been there. So if we can torture legally, then so can our enemies.

Cheney is absolutely correct in his assertions. First it is imperative to understand that the President is ultimately responsible for any actions taken by a member of his cabinet, and Holder is a member of that cabinet. Secondly, it is an abomination to neutralize the ability of the CIA to do it's job satisfactorily by going back to previous administration approvals of their actions with an investigation. We are talking the same department, the Justice Department, after changing administrations, exhuming dead, or previously reviewed issues. The CIA's clandestine activities are paramount to protecting the security of our nation, and those jobs are completed by human beings. If I were an agent of the CIA knowing that my performance is today acceptable, but maybe not acceptable after a new President is elected, I might think twice about accepting an assignment. If Holder is successful in pursuing this investigation, watch an exodus from the ranks of the CIA and a refusal on the part of the International Security community to cooperate with our security agencies. This will open the door to increased terrorist activity within the borders of this country as well as those interests outside our country where our citizens are working. It is impossible to understand why the President has washed his hands of what Holder does, allowing him to go off like a loose cannon. Repairing the damage to our country's security once the damage has been incurred will take a very long time, if at all. It is very important, even though they don't seem to listen, to contact your elected representatives in the House and the Senate and let them know how you feel about the castration of our security in this country.
