This is the most unfortunate situation in our history. We can say many things and we can fight. But damage has already done.
UNP has some good people too. They could have brought these people to fight with Mahinda. If Mahinda is not good for the country, people will not give him another chance so the other person can win the election. We can understand Ranil. Why Somawansha did not come? Because they know Mahinda is better than them. So they have created this drama.
What they did was completely wrong. They should not have created this kind of situation. The whole world including LTTE supporters laugh at us today. I heard some Sinhalese in Italy started to demonstrate. Demonstrate for what? What kind of message they are giving to the world? (I do not think people in other countries (specially western) would do something like this to make people laugh at our country)
Once victory of the war was an unbelievable victory for all of us. It is a joke today. The main actors are fighting. This has never happened in world history before.

I can see above, someone with name from "KH" has post very truth of the both candidates of up coming presidential election. I think he is (KH) one of the person who love this country very much, i appreciate it.
As he has mention, of course SF and his support are selling the war like item they made which is very bad and talking all secret of the war we had in public. I can see only the thing, they are showing the jelous again the MR and they don't have any vision or mission about politic.

Gen. Sarath Fonseka the common Presidential candidate said today (13) when addressing a Press briefing at the JAIC Hilton Hotel, that he did not state that Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse gave orders to kill those who LTTE ers who came to surrender during the last phase of the war.
The General told this when answering a question raised by a media personnel with reference to a news item appearing in today’s Sunday Leader newspaper.
He told he has been misquoted in the news. The question asked from me was what action Gotabaya and Basil Rajapakse took when several LTTE leaders were preparing to come forward with white flags to surrender on 17th May 2009 after Basil and Gotabaya were informed of such a move by the LTTE leaders through the Norwegians.?
The answer I gave was, ‘I did not know the story of the LTTE leaders trying to surrender carrying the white flags. I came to know of this later through the media. That was known only between the two of them , as expressed by the media. T he media revealed to me , the Defense Secretary had instructed a high officer in the war operations not to allow anyone to escape whether they came with or without a white flag.
This is a story heard by you from others in the same way as I heard. Due to the security and safety of the media personnel who told me this , I cannot disclose his name. These details were revealed to me by a Media personnel who was on the battlefield on that day. The Defense secretary has instructed the high Army Officer over the phone.’

Very disturbing to see still people are worshipping a mare politician who got lucky to come to power in 05. They don't realize that this victory was part of many issues such as breakaway of karun which was caused only because of the peace process. lets put that argument aside. people do not own ANything for MR he has taken enough from the country. IF this so called king is so good how come a minister from his cabinet and take a gun and threaten an official in national tv and get a way with this. this is not democracy. I agree we do not need to worship people King or Queen. Mahinda never asked people to call him "King". It came from people's hearts. You may not remember now. People suffered for more than 30 years. Some politicians wanted to stop it but they were scared. Mahinda was the only politician who had a backbone to face that. I still remember someone forced people to call him "Uthumaneni". Mahinda is in that position now. Did Mahinda ever ask anybody to call him "Uthumaneni"? I know you may like to call someone "Uthumaneni" again. But we do not.

It is dissapointing to see how some people still have inferrior and submissive mindset to worship "Kings", Queens", and "Royalty". Human civilaization has come along way inmany parts of the world and people forget that they are in control of their lives. It's the people who elect the leaders. When they treat democraticlly elected people as "Kings"and"demi-gods" then the leaders forget that they are representative of their voters.
This has been the case whether it's SLFP and UNP. A leader elect doesn't become "Athi Garu", "royal", or "divine". Our country needs a cultaral change and sense of independance so that they don't feel like bending their backs infront of politicians. It's okay to call a president, "Mr.President". That way they are reminded that they are elected to "serve the people" and not "served by the people".

I know what you are saying. But we see the big picture. We know what is going on in Western countries right now. All the LTTE supporters are waiting. They want to make SL unstable. They do not need to fight to get what they want then.
Fonseka cannot run a government. He is greedy for power. He would do anything to get the power and keep the power. That's for sure. UNP and JVP will break up soon after (if) Fonseka win. People will fight. Fonseka will try to use military experience to control the situation. But it won't work. Fonseka has to work with Ranil. We already know what is Ranil's democracy and what kind of love he has for the country. JVP will not have any control over general or the situation after the election. I appreciate your commets very much. Not only Sinhala Buddhist, all Sri Lankans should support Hon. MR if they are truely Sri Lankans. Gen SF is a great leader for the army. But we cannot appoint him as the president of SL, because he does not hav any experience. Also the people around him are not very honest. JVP and UNP wants to defeat MR in any cost and they dont have any plan after that.

No doubt G.S. Mahinda will create a good country for all of us, All Sri Lankans. Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, Burger, others, everyone. We all are human no matter what. Fonseka talks about minorities now because he wants their votes. He has already made racist comments about minorities. People cannot change like this. This man changes his talks all the time. He says one thing in the morning and another thing in the evening.
If Fonseka win (It will never happen), he won't cancel executive presidency. The man is greedy for power and control. Mahinda used executive presidency for the country during the war. He has never used that to destroy Sri Lanka. He has never used that to hurt anybody. But if this goes to hands of a wrong man, I do not know what will happen. I do not think JVP really believe Fonseka will cancel executive presidency. I think they just talk about it because they have nothing else to talk other than executive presidency and corruptions. They are blind with anger. They just want to take the revenge. They do not think about the country.

Yes. Gamunu you are absolutely right. Fonseka could not do anything if Mahinda decided to stop the war. Mahinda was the one who decided to fight against LTTE. Gotabhaya was the one who planned everything and handled all three forces. Army did a great job. But without Air Force and Navy we could not win the war. Fonseka did his job. If Mahinda did not give him that job, he would be in US now as a retried officer.
I do not honestly understand what this man says. What is Mahinda doing to destroy Sri Lanka? Mahinda always says country first. Now he stole it from Mahinda. Fonseka says many different things. The Tharunyata Hetak Organization is reportedly facing a severe financial crisis after spending millions of rupees on an advertisement for the Presidential election campaign.
The Organization has requested for a loan from the Bank of Ceylon to resolve the crisis and it has been decided to provide assets belonging to the organization as sureties.
The Organization is faced with this crisis due to the advertisement currently being telecast on state TV channels where the head of Tharunyata Hetak, President’s son, Namal Rajapaksa
requests people to support his father at the Presidential election.
Interestingly, although there is no direct request being made for the people to vote for the President, such a request is made through innuendo.
It is learnt that while some artistes have been paid between Rs. 5 – 10 lakhs to appear in the advertisement, some have been threatened to do so.
The respective advertisement is telecast free of charge on state TV channels while it is given a special rate by the private channels.
However, sources from the Organization said the Secretary has already in writing informed Namal of the financial crisis.

Gen. Sarath Fonseka the common Presidential candidate said today (13) when addressing a Press briefing at the JAIC Hilton Hotel, that he did not state that Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse gave orders to kill those who LTTE ers who came to surrender during the last phase of the war.
The General told this when answering a question raised by a media personnel with reference to a news item appearing in today’s Sunday Leader newspaper.
He told he has been misquoted in the news. The question asked from me was what action Gotabaya and Basil Rajapakse took when several LTTE leaders were preparing to come forward with white flags to surrender on 17th May 2009 after Basil and Gotabaya were informed of such a move by the LTTE leaders through the Norwegians.?
The answer I gave was, ‘I did not know the story of the LTTE leaders trying to surrender carrying the white flags. I came to know of this later through the media. That was known only between the two of them , as expressed by the media. T he media revealed to me , the Defense Secretary had instructed a high officer in the war operations not to allow anyone to escape whether they came with or without a white flag.
This is a story heard by you from others in the same way as I heard. Due to the security and safety of the media personnel who told me this , I cannot disclose his name. These details were revealed to me by a Media personnel who was on the battlefield on that day. The Defense secretary has instructed the high Army Officer over the phone.’
