If guns are banned, then only politicians (with their exemptions) and criminals (who really care for the law) will have guns!

I dont want to be a victim or much worse a statistic. People should open their eyes to the truth. Criminality has been on the rise and our law enforcement cannot protect the people. I dont want to encounter a criminal and stare at the barrel of his gun and beg for my life or the lives of my loved ones. Why should the government take away my right to protect myself and my family? I say NO to the proposed permanent gun ban.

  • J Ceasar Villarama - 16 years ago

Hell NO! GUN BAN=HAppy Days for Criminals!

  • Joy Amador - 16 years ago

All law abiding citizen should keep gun in their home for protection. The police can't be there 24/7 to watch and protect you. In USA we teach young kids as old as ten to use gun. Guns don't kill people do. My kids know how to use guns rifle and pistol.

  • Roy Claudio - 16 years ago

Permanent Gun Ban is definitely NOT the solution to crime rate... Bad guys don't observe gun ban, so why the Responsible Gun Owners made to suffer?

USA has a Free trade policy regarding arms, do they have high crime rate because of that???

Let the people choose whether to bear arms or not...

  • Richardson Sim - 16 years ago

Please visit www.progun.ph for the real gun ban death figures! please do not deceive us with your ERVI (Election related violent incidents) the PNP must include "THE WHOLE PICTURE"

  • Arianna Denise Cedo - 16 years ago

GUN BAN a success? Think again. There are more than 500 cases of gun related killings to date. Election related or not, still, it's a failure. The PNP's claim about the reduction of gun related incidence is mere public deception.

Add a comment...The right of a living creature to defend itself is a right granted by nature. It is not a privilege granted by law. Personal protection is a personal responsibility, not that of a cop who makes less than the average wage in an already stressful job. Your choice is to kill the killer or let the killer kill you. If you let the killer kill you, then that killer is free to kill and kill again. And you are an accessory to each subsequent crime. All because you did not value human life enough to provide a way to defend your own. This is not theory or opinion. It just is.

Ban criminals not guns of good guys!

  • Eugene Ocampo - 16 years ago

Can the government guarantee the protection of my family 24/7 ?
The proponents of the gunban should wake up from their utopian dreams and be awake from the stench of crime & corruption plaguing our society.
NO to foreign intervention. NO to IANSA. NO to gunban.

NO to Gun Ban! If the government is serious in fighting crime, there is no need to us,responsible gun owners, to have a gun..The problem is, the police is inutile in solving simple crimes! Or they are just lazy doing their job! I have many experiences that police DO NOTHING! So why rely on them??

  • Ernesto Tabujara - 16 years ago

A total gun ban is unrealistic and not feasible within the Philippines. While other countries and organizations such as IANSA (International Action Network on Small Arms) may advocate such a ban, the conditions prevailing in other countries as well as the Western European countries where IANSA has its base, are different from the Philippines.

Unlike the Western countries, the Philippines suffers from rampant crime in the form of robberies and thefts, kidnapping, drug violence, terrorism in the South, Communist insurgency, and political and profession related killings. In spite of the best efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces (AFP), these crimes have not been curbed or lessened over the years. If anything, the crime situation in the country has gotten worse.

The mandate of the PNP is to preserve general state of peace and order. The PNP are not mandated to protect individual citizens on a 24 hour basis, seven days a week. Stated otherwise, the police cannot be present everywhere and always to protect its citizens. For this reason, the more affluent Filipinos hire private security guards for their homes and subdivisions or personal bodyguards for the even wealthier. However, for the ordinary citizens who are not as moneyed, a total gun ban would leave them totally defenseless against criminal elements.

  • Jay Llamas - 16 years ago

Criminals don't care about any gun ban. Disarming us will make us more vulnerable to crime, furthermore, the government cannot provide police protection at all times.

  • Jose Miguel Dominguez - 16 years ago

    NO NO NO NO!!!

Guns are made kill??? Then how about these as well:

Knives are also made to kill. How many people die by the knife every year? Start lobbying for TOTAL KNIFE BAN!!!

The car is a modern version of the chariot, a carriage designed to make efficient use of cavalry and increase enemy kills. How many people die by the car every year? Start lobbying for a TOTAL CAR BAN!!!

Before any weapon was introduced, the fist was the primary weapon used to kill. How many people died by the fist? Hell, let's start chopping off everyone's hand!!!

WE ARE NOT CRIMINALS. SHOW SOME RESPECT. RESPECT OUR RIGHT TO CHOSE THE MEANS FOR SELF-PRESERVATION.

  • Anton Palma - 16 years ago

AdThomas Jefferson: "The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes....Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria in Chapter 40 of "On Crimes and Punishment", 1764. d a comment...

  • Arnold Tuazon - 16 years ago

No to permanent gun ban! for one main reason, who can possibly protect our love ones especially my children from lunatics of our society... the police? barangay tanods? when they themselves can't give protection to their community, how do you protect your selves from criminals who has bad intentions to your family.... goverment should give extra effort and concentration to those who are carrying loose firearms. pano naman din yung mga kaibigan natin na nasa gun industry? they have families also to provide.

  • Marcos Lomerez - 16 years ago

    NO to total gun ban

    YES to more police presence/checkpoints

  • Clip Fernandez - 16 years ago

GUN BAN means open invitation to all criminals that the season for hunting is now officially open...

    BIG NO TO GUN BAN...

  • Robinson Montoya - 16 years ago

NO!! lawless elements, hold uppers, kidnappers, rapists, robbers, killers, maniacs will thrive if they know that their targets are not armed... its like proposing that nobody is allowed to put up gates and fences in their homes. Fiesta ito for the bad guys!! do you believe the police can protect you 24/7? in some cases are you protected from them??!

  • Geno Ferri - 16 years ago

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Why should a law abiding citizen have his rights abrogated because of a minority population of criminals? Laws that take away rights are not good laws. Enforce the laws already there. From my point of view enforced traffic laws would save mor elives than guns take away.

  • Reli Buenaventura - 16 years ago

    Big no!

  • Jessica Correy - 16 years ago

NO TO GUN CONTROL!!! NO TO TYRANY!!!

Mandy Pacheco and his minions should relocate to Maguindanao if they want a total gun ban. Better yet, they should move to antarctica where he is 100% safe. No neighbors, no guns, no problem. Exactly the kind of society they want.

  • Ramon Lee - 16 years ago

no to gun ban, who will protect to our love one.

  • Ellen Bawar - 16 years ago

    definitely NO

  • Miguel Santiago - 16 years ago

It will be a big, big mistake. Let's think of the citizens 1st, not personal interests. How can it even be a thought when statistically proven, our law enforcement is not capable of safe guarding the citizens. The Philippines is not ready for something like this. Can't believe we have bird brains out there leading us.

  • Mark Jacinto Calixtro - 16 years ago

no to gun ban, simply because our PNP can't protect us 24/7.

  • Obyndjd Odtuhan - 16 years ago

  • Dyeneziz Delos Santos - 16 years ago

no to permanent gun ban po!

  • Ed Bar - 16 years ago

a gun ban only bans legit guns....

  • Marc John - 16 years ago

In a third world country like us, gun ban for the responsible and legit is a real nonsense.

  • Mon Garcia - 16 years ago

    NO to permanent gun ban!

  • Crisanto Perez - 16 years ago

David won against the bad goliath because David was armed, I know there was no gun at that time but in our time we also have goliath in the form of robbers, kidnappers, carnappers, killers, rapist, private armies so how can we protect ourselves if we don't have a gun or there is a gun ban?
Do lawless criminals respect gun ban?
Do police stay with us at all times?

  • Aris Canete - 16 years ago

Every Law Abiding Citizens has the right to defend Himself against those who wants to Harm or Kill him/her and their Loved-Ones....Kaya nga some of us are studying Self-defense because we value life .....

  • Real Deceiver - 16 years ago

    NO to permanent gun ban.

  • Jojo Dizon - 16 years ago

If this thing happens only criminals will have guns, how about us law abiding citizens who just want to protect ourselves and our kin, we have to agree that the police and military even on 24 hour duty cannot protect us all.... sila nga outgunned na.. tayo pa kaya...

  • Brian Cordevilla - 16 years ago

gun ban does not work. give us the right to keep and bear arms.

  • Buboy Velas - 16 years ago

    No for me.

  • Mike Alcantara - 16 years ago

    No.

  • Anthony Lopez-Vito - 16 years ago

There have been no cases anywhere in the world where firearms prohibition has effectively prevented criminals from obtaining weapons. What makes them think it would work in the Philippines?

Rather than appealing to emotion and scaremongering, I would like the anti-gun groups to come up with actual facts to back up their claims. No more manipulated statistics. Just come up with an example of where banning guns have kept them out of criminal hands.

  • Joey Casimiro - 16 years ago

  • Lito Bawar - 16 years ago

Permanent Gun Ban? YES... only to the lawless elements, but not to the responsible FA owners.

if the gov't can assure it's people that they can protect them 24/7 from criminals, only then should they implement total gun ban.

  • Chet Cena - 16 years ago

Stricter gun laws is the key and not total gun ban.

  • Renato Ong - 16 years ago

no to gun ban! gun ban affects only legitimate gun owners and not criminals who do not respect the ban.

  • Arvin Pagsibigan - 16 years ago

i do not own a gun. would love to but can't coz i have children at home. for people who do have guns it serves as a protection provided they are responsible owners. if they have something wrong in the head it serves as a tool for instilling fear in others. gun owners here's my challenge! show the world ( the philippines) that guns can be a tool for maintaining peace and not war.

  • Edrick Luartes - 16 years ago

i don' think total gun ban will lessen if not eradicate gun related crimes because most of the guns used in these incidents are illegal or unregistered. The PNP should instead intensify their checkpoints and other anti criminality campaign so as to weed out people who carry guns without authority or permit since they are the ones who usually do the crimes.

  • Ivan Uy - 16 years ago

say NO to crime! say NO to a permanent or extended gunban!

  • Cet Concepcion - 16 years ago

total gun ban would only ban guns that are duly licensed! criminals and bad guys never obey total gunban. what verzosa should do is implement is increase the ratio of policemen to citizen, solve crimes so that the number of criminals would be reduced and police visibility. sumama na din sya sa pagpapatrol kung hindi kaya ng mga tauhan nya

  • Lhance Maduli - 16 years ago

    NOOOOOOO to permanent gun ban!!

  • William Todcor - 16 years ago

Why should bad guys the only one to have guns, when PNP cannot protect 80 million filipinos? how about good guys don't they have the right to protect themselves with guns?

  • William Savage - 16 years ago

a BIG NO to permanent gun ban!

  • Dante Morales - 16 years ago

permanent gun ban!!! that is absurb! if the PNP can protect every citizen i agree...but i dont think so,every filipino has the right to defend themselves and their love ones from lawless elements....

  • Dan Santos - 16 years ago

Think of it in these simple ways:

When our government, such as it is right now, is able to protect me and my family effectively and consistently from lawless criminals and drug addicts who more often than not are carrying ILLEGAL weapons, then I will start leaving my pistol at home.

And reflect on this, if your home is invaded by a group of bad guys intent on doing you and your family harm, rape your wife/girlfriend/daughter/niece, steal or destroy all your expensive possessions and your only recourse is to use a gun to stop them, wouldn't you? Or would you rather try to 'talk them out of it' by asking them nicely to leave? Would you call the police knowing that it will take them at the very least 30 minutes to reach your home, hoping in vain they will save you and your family?

Banning and severely limiting the legal use of firearms will only make people go underground with their weapons since the fear from criminal activity will always remain. Hence, even more firearms will become unlicensed. The problem then becomes bigger rather than the opposite. More illegal guns will become unregulated.

  • Albert Montano - 16 years ago

We have the rights to defend ourselves....!!!!

In your case Vivian sa Middle East, what about the country of Israel? they are all Citizens Army both male and female carrying guns in there homes to protect their country they are all Reservist.

  • Jon Roz - 16 years ago

I can understand why criminals want this to happen. It's like saying "rob my house I am defenseless."

  • Vivian -Malvar - 16 years ago
