@Dee I 100% agree with you about Rob/Edward. I loved Edward in the books. He was sexy. Rob was not what I imagined when I read the books and I was kind of disappointed. I do realize there are women who love his Edward (and some who just love Twilight and love Edward because of that) which I respect. But Rob to me isn't the sexy Edward and I have a lot of friends who agree.

Okay, I'm a fan of Edward Cullen. He is beautiful, peaceful, romantic and does not drink human blood. But what draws so much attention to it? The eyes? The way he talks? I do not know, but girls fight over him, and that's weird. Imagine you, fighting with her best friend because she is completely in love with Edward Cullen and you also, but in his mind he is only your, and she has right to dislike him. I've seen, girls fighting for he, and it is not normal.
I'm also a fan of Damon Salvatore. He is beautiful, funny, their facial expressions are the best, it might seem bad, but he is very cute. He drinks human blood, but if he did not drink, would be like Stefan: weak. I do not care that he drink from someone, because lately he has robbed the blood banks in hospitals. What really draws attention to him, are the eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes, that bind you, that makes you go into space and back to earth. They are so blue and deep, that you fall in love. After all, he's a nice guy.
I know it's a difficult choice, Damon or Edward?
I thought a lot, of course, and arrived at the conclusion that despite all the supposed perfection of Edward Cullen, Damon overcomes all this perfection. My vote is for Damon, always will be. @D Ian said Twilight was the reason VD got so much attention, which is true. Vampires are not a novel concept, but Twilight did bring them into the spotlight again (they kind of faded back after Buffy). I do think Vampire Diaries would have had a chance without Twilight. It is a popular theme (vampires + romance = viewers) and it is on the CW, where its ratings don't have to be as high. People having vampires on the brain did give it a boost, and there were people obsessed with both Twilight and True Blood (which came out before the Twilight movie to good ratings) which gave it a boost. And I know a lot of Twilight fans who find Rob not sexy (myself included). It's personal opinion. And yes, Twilight dominates in fans, but apparently Damon has a few of his own seeing as how it's hovering around 50/50 :)

Shows like TVD and True Blood need no help from Twilight's sparkly ass to be popular, they're just badass enough. What Twilight did is popularize the vampire genre, and that's all. Any other vampire shows or movies aren't any better or worse BECASE of Twilight. Really? TVD books suck? First of all, this is a discussion of how hot the actors are, and not how good the books are. Second, i think majority of intelligent people would agree with me that LJ. Smith is a much better author than S.Meyer. Yeah, she was supposed to be blonde. So? That bothered me at first, but the TV show is BASED off of the book. It's not an exact replica, or else that would be boring. *cough* Twilight *cough. Living under a rock has nothing to do with the eye of the beholder. That just proves that you sir, are "going with the flow" of thinking that Rob is sexy. @Dee I 100% agree with you about Rob/Edward. I loved Edward in the books. He was sexy. Rob was not what I imagined when I read the books and I was kind of disappointed. I do realize there are women who love his Edward (and some who just love Twilight and love Edward because of that) which I respect. I'm also a fan of Damon Salvatore. He is beautiful, funny, their facial expressions are the best, it might seem bad, but he is very cute. Vampires are not a novel concept, but Twilight did bring them into the spotlight again (they kind of faded back after Buffy). I do think Vampire Diaries would have had a chance without Twilight. It is a popular theme (vampires + romance = viewers) and it is on the CW, where its ratings don't have to be as high. People having vampires on the brain did give it a boost, and there were people obsessed with both Twilight and True Blood (which came out before the Twilight movie to good ratings) which gave it a boost. And I know a lot of Twilight fans who find Rob not sexy (myself included). It's personal opinion. And yes, Twilight dominates in fans, but apparently Damon has a few of his own seeing as how it's hovering around 50/50 :)

Shows like TVD and True Blood need no help from Twilight's sparkly ass to be popular, they're just badass enough. What Twilight did is popularize the vampire genre, and that's all. Any other vampire shows or movies aren't any better or worse BECASE of Twilight. Really? TVD books suck? First of all, this is a discussion of how hot the actors are, and not how good the books are.
