    I have read both series, watched all of the movies and TV shows, went through a Twilight Obsession, then a TVD obsession, and now I am obsession free. I still feel that Damon is a sexier beast.

    @Marie, You SHOULD be ashamed of your fans, Twilight Saga is an internationally released movie. Lets take facebook, it has 11 lac fans over there. And TVD has only 2 Lac.     I am offended! first of all i'm not a little girl. And second of all Vampire Diaries would not be a hit with out the twilight fan base, even the actors and the one who played Damon said it. And i tried to read the books, and they seriously suck! I thought the girl was supposed to be blond! And for those of you who think Rob is not hot/sexy, have you been living under a rock? I'm totally in this for Edward! soo all you twilight haters, please leave us alone and we'll leave you alone.     How many people voting Edward have actually read all of both series of books and watch the all the movies and all the shows??? I have....anyone else in the same boat that chooses Edward over Damon I respect. Everyone else if you have never even seen the show yet feel like you can have an opinion....I giggle at that! Yeh of course you can but a 12 year old would realise that its ridiculously biased of course!

    when I did not know the vampire diaries, I was a big fan, so after I met felt that DTV twilight was futile, and that DTV had an interesting story about vampires and still the man most beautiful, sexiest, most everything I've ever seen , And so many more that I'm Shallow DAMOM TEAM FOREVER!

Stop a random on the streets and go have you heard of Ian Somerhalder or The Vampire Diaries and they will probably say no....I am guessing if you ask the same about Twilight they will probably would say yes! I'm just basing this off my real life friends. I'm the one that loves american tv shows and watches lots on line they watch their english soaps and english tv programmes and non of them would have a clue what I am talking about.

    The only reason this is 50-50 is because Twilight's twitter KEEPS posting the link .. Otherwise Damon would be winning .. No offence Edward fans, but only Nina retweeted the link & yet it's still a tie, Twilight has Facebook AND Twitter that are posting the link for it & yet Edward isn't in the lead like expected? Obviously more people that are Damon fans are finding this without the help of big groups or whatever to help .. Not to mention that Vampire Diaries doesn't have as big a fan base as Twilight yet Edward isn't soaring ahead ... Must say something about Edwards supposed 'sexiness.'

    Some of the views on here might be shallow but to be honest the people driving the votes are the more obsessed passionate fans. TVD is a show that majority of people have never heard of..the same goes for Ian. For it still to be this close shows the dedication of Damon's fans. It should be a complete landslide in favour of Edward right but its not and that says a lot. To be honest we are probably massively driven by our hate for Twilight!

    I read Twilight to see what all the fuss was about and because I like vampires. Initially I thought the reason why I wasn't going gaga for it was because I'd finally outgrown teen romance. Then I realised that wasn't at all the case. Just nothing about the story gelled with me at all. It horrified me. On the shallowest level possible just as a story involving vampires, werewolves and the like its barely bearable but its meant to be taken deeper and it makes my skin crawl. I suggest people read some better books. I have never read the TVD books but I happen to like the show a lot!
    Read Anne Rice and Sergei Lukyanenko those are my favourite! Let the Right One In is also very good!

    Also notice that the majority of commenters are Damon fans. There may be more Edward fans but we are most definitely more devoted. And most of the Edward fan's comments consist of bashing and "♥Rob♥Rob♥Rob♥ ".
    Don't get me wrong, the Damon lovers do bash, but most of the time it's because Twilight lovers take a jab at us.

    @Isabella. Well said. It is personal preference. I don't think sexy describes Edward to me, in fact he's not even close, but that's my opinion and there is nothing wrong if you like him. On the other hand, I find Damon extremely sexy. And with me personally, my love of vampires started 20 years or so ago with Anne Rice and Joss Whedon (the Buffy movie) and I have loved vampire books/movies since. And while there are usually a set of standards in vampire stories, everyone tells theirs a bit differently. Some are easier to grasp than others. For me, sparkling is a bit far fetched. I was alright with the concept in the book but I think it was overkill in the movie. But it's just like any other genre, no two things are the same and you pick and choose parts or the whole of something new to like.
